[2x draft media] Where Are They Now? - S60 Class Edition - By-Tor - 06-04-2021

READY TO BE GRADED

A whole season ago, sixty players were drafted into the SMJHL. To me, it pretty much feels like 37 seconds ago. It went by so fast!

Year in and year out, SMJHL draftees are all over the board in terms of player performance and training. This article is going to outline where some of these players currently stand - how did they do in year one? What's their training and TPE gain looked like? Are they an active forum user? As we all know, it's pretty much impossible to tell players apart on their draft day. Pretty much everyone is in a very small window of TPE and activity is only based on a few days or weeks. Since a whole season has passed, it's my hope here to give everyone a clear idea of who's keeping pace in draft class S60 and who is falling off. In this way, we can pick out the draft gems and you may see which players have a chance of being drafted to the SHL this offseason and which players may have to wait around a little longer.

For TPE calculations, CW and offseason training buys are not included. A * indicates that there is extra TPE this week that has not yet been claimed.

Lets get into it:

Outlaws 1. Stan Din'desque - 326 TPE - For activity, what you see is what you get. Inf1d3l is in the SMJHL HO, posts pretty regularly outside PTs, and I think is pretty active in the Anaheim LR. For performance, Stan played in all 66 games this year, registering 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points in 9:17 ATOI. Compared to other forwards in the class, this isn't spectacular. Din'desque did have the worst Corsi rating on the team, which hurts to look at, but there's always room for improvement, right? With the constant TPE gain, I can definitely see him only getting better. Activity 10/10. Performance 5/10.

Timber 2. Duncan the Walrus - 323 TPE - SouthPaw is a SMJHL GM now, so activity is a big A plus. He doesn't have as much voluntary media posted as others, but GMing is a big time sucker. As a GM, I'm sure he is very busy within the LR chat. Duncan has kept the TPE pace and is among the top earners so far in the class. Duncan the Walrus had a pretty good full season as a defenseman, posting 8 goals and 13 assists in 19:17 ATOI. Walrus was one of the best possession players on the Timber and was defensively and offensively sound. Activity 9/10. Performance 8/10.

Citadelles 3. Greyson Cooper - 328 TPE - Another top earner, goilers has Cooper set up to succeed. Goilers is active and I can only assume another great LR presence for QCC. Greyson Cooper had a fantastic season - 18 goals and 12 assists for a big 30 points in only 1427 ATOI. Other stats outside points were pretty average for the team, but who cares when the puck is in he net. The skill is there, the activity is there, this is definitely a prospect to be picked up sooner rather than later. Activity 7/10. Performance 10/10.

Battleborn 4. Maxwell Carrigan - 324 TPE - Do we see a trend? The top picks of last year's draft, including Carrigan, are very active. SecondSucks22 is not only a GM of his SMJHL team, he is an updater as well. This is an extremely active user that sets up his player for a ton of future success. The activity level is also bound to make a difference come SHL draft time. For performance, it was just kind of average. 10 points in 19:49 TOI, pretty bad +/-. He did block a lot of shots which is a plus. Some of this an be excused due to how bad the team was, though. Activity 10/10. Performance 5/10.

Whalers 5. Uhtred Ragnarsson - 319 TPE - Just a hair behind other top earners, this player is another to watch. FiveForFighting is active - posting great general media pieces every now and then. The activity level has kept his player up in TPE, just a little ad luck on the PTs bring him down a few. Ragnarsson's performance was avergae this year, posting 3 goals and 8 assists in 14:03 TOI as a forward. He came more alive in the playoffs with 7 points in 11 games. Possession metrics are nothing to write home about. Watch his development closely. Activity 8/10. Performance 5/10.

Whalers 6. NeverBrokeAgain YoungBoy - 333 TPE - dmills zoomed to the front of the TPE race this week with a mass collection. Activity, no problem. You gotta think what the heck was he doing for two weeks there, but we can just excuse that as a vacation to Venezuela. Activity is all fine and dandy, but I want to talk about his performance. In my opinion, NBA YB should win (or at least be in the running for) rookie of the year. 34 points as a defenseman, stellar grades, and a fantastic playoff performance. Vancouver got a great player right here. Activity 9/10. Performance 10/10.

Raptors 7. Gonzo Gobbledygook - 333 TPE - Activity is pretty good, most evident due to that massive amount of TPE. I'm sure LR presence is a plus - all I heard going into the draft is how much everyone loves tweedle. He's not too much of a words on paper type poster, for his strength lies in graphics. Gobbledygook's strength are a little less evident. I want to say he had an amazing rookie season, but it just wasn't that great. Relative Corsi was weak, 16 points in 66 games was okay, but the overall play just wasn't what tweedle wanted, I'm sure. Activity 8/10. Performance 5/10.

Scarecrows 8. Marcel Beck - 329 TPE - Activity is okay. TPE is great. I'm not as active as others, but I do like the monster media pieces. As for Beck's performance, he did okay. 16 points in 66 games, 20:49 TOI. If anything can be said for Beck, its that his team really leaned on him and he was a great defensive player. The +/- is ugly, but look at that whole roster. Corsi is average. Activity 8/10. Performance 6/10.

Falcons 9. Zak Wilson - 330 TPE - I could be missing something, but BenDover's activity seems to be simply getting the TPE. (Which is impeccable.) Maybe the LR discord activity is a lot higher. Zak Wilson, on the other hand, went above and beyond in his first season. 21 points as a bottom pair defenseman is a great achievement. Plus/minus was great, Corsi was okay. I just say a pretty solid first season for Wilson. I'm curious to see what his numbers will do when he gets more ice time. Activity 7/10. Performance 8/10.

Knights 10. Satoru Gojo - 326 TPE - Matty has a job as an updater, which in my opinion is one of the heaviest jobs. Not much posting activity, but I see high LR activity and updating activity. A few of the mock drafts I've seen have him going 1OA, so there must be something there, right? Gojo is a performer, too. 7 goals and 21 assists on a stacked champ team (12:03 ATOI). He does have the worst possession metrics on the Knights which des not bode well, but such can be expected on such a stacked team. Activity 9/10. Performance 7/10.

Scarecrows 11. Maverick Seabrook - 309 TPE* - Another player with high TPE, Tonzy has kept Seabrook in the top tier of players. I love my fellow scarecrows, but Tonzy has not been as active as others. He keep getting that TPE, but there aren't many posts from him. Seabrook had 22 points in 66 games with 11:35 ATOI. That's pretty good for a bottom feeder team. His possession metrics weren't great but, again, that's almost to be expected from a rookie. In my opinion, he had a pretty good-average season. Activity 4/10. Performance 6/10.

Citadelles 12. Ryan Gardner - 310 TPE - Activity is average on the website, so I expect to see a higher activity level in the LR. He wrote a few good media pieces, which is a plus. He's a little behind the pace in TPE, but still anything over 300 is fantastic at this point. Gardner performed very well this season. He had the highest overall grade on QCC. 16 points in 18:27 ATOI for a defenseman is pretty good. He had pretty average possession stats, so he really made the plays when it counted. Activity 7/10. Performance 7/10.

Timber 13. J. J. James Jamerson Angler - 334 TPE - Is one of the highest TPE earners so far from round 2? You bet your bottom they are! I'm very curious to know just how active tMuse is in the LR, because activity would be the only thing holding them down from 10s across the board. I don't see too many posts on site, which is a knock. Player performance is perfect for 4xJ A. How many times do you see a rookie tie for points lead? 34 points in 66 games with 17:24 ATOI. This guy drove Maine offense. Activity 7/10. Performance 10/10.

Scarecrows 14. Nikolai Ayerzov - 272 TPE - faded is very active in the STL LR. He's really not that active on site, though. That fact is reflected a bit in the lower TPE compared to top earners. How do I grade high LR activity and low site activity? Performance didn't suffer from the relatively lower TPE. 17 points in 10:56 ATOI for 66 games. It's a little underwhelming as a forward, but not too shabby on STL's roster. Not great Corsi. I think this player will have a big show-me sophomore season. Activity 6/10. Performance 5/10.

Outlaws 15. High Haschdi - 335 TPE - Like J.J., High Haschdi is one of the top TPE earners of the class from draft round 2. Like others in the class, highhaschdi is active enough to keep the TPE flowing, but not so above and beyond active. LR activity is unknown to me. High Haschdi, the player, had a great season. They had 31 points in 14:04 ATOI for 66 games. They also had a very high +/- relative to the team and pretty good possession metrics. Definitely an offensive minded player, they had a 49 defensive grade. Activity 7/10. Performance 9/10.

Kraken 16. Bjorn Bjorn - 317 TPE - negs77 is an active LR player as far as I know. He's a big Swede-head and love his national team. He had a pretty good season with 23 points in 66 games (11:33 ATOI). He was not great on the team in Corsi and his plus-minus wasn't great either. I do remember he had a great WJC last year, so I know there is great potential there. Activity 7/10. Performance 6/10.

Kraken 17. Osada Tamura - 211 TPE - Going into this season, I really thought Tamura was going to be the goalie of the future. There's still time to bounce back, but honestly, a lot of PT TPE was missed. Gregarious is not the most active user on site - I can't speak for his LR activity. He had a pretty decent season as a rookie goalie with 9 wins in 23 games. (3.07 GAA, 0.901 SV). He did collect the only shutout of the pair of goalies this regular season. He came in reilief in 2 playoff games and was lights out. Maybe he should have started? Activity 4/10. Performance 6/10 (Playoff performance 10/10).

Kraken 18. Lucas Raymond - 314 TPE - jjlangabeer is my role model - that media production is absolutely flawless. There's really not much more I can say on activity - it's absolutely there. Production was high too. 30 points in 66 games as a rookie is fantastic. Raymond pretty much acted as an offensive specialist for this team - underlying numbers are average enough no o pull him down. Activity 10/10. Performance 9/10.

Battleborn 19. Jimmy Larkin-Conway - 289 TPE

Armada 20. Mikhail Novikov - 284 TPE*

Citadelles 21. Alfred Yankovic - 319 TPE  - Fairly active user, gets the TPE. His player had a pretty decent season for QCC. 11 points in 66 games. Activity 7/10. Performance 5/10.

Outlaws 22. Daniel Merica Jr. - 299 TPE - Very active poster. I am certain they are active in the ANA LR. Merica Jr had an okay season for a rookie 15 pts in 66 games on the 4th line. They were on par with many of the other Anaheim rookies this season. Activity 9/10. Performance 6/10.

Citadelles 23. Hail Bingus - 288 TPE - Everyone's favorite Bingus. Fairly active. Decent season 23 points in 66 games (15 of those, goals). Activity 7/10. Performance 7/10.

Outlaws 24. Zhen Rosa - 302 TPE

Kraken 25. Roderic Banes - 303 TPE - My boy Roddy B. Good media output. Probably good LR presence. He had a great year with 23 points in 66 games (11:10 ATOI). Honestly he was very close to his teammate Bjorn Bjorn this season in performance, so anything that can be said about one can be said about the other. Activity 8/10. Performance 6/10.

Scarecrows 26. Mars Stanton - 326 TPE - My Scarecrow brother! CD12 is a good LR presence and regularly rakes in the TPE. Honestly, Stanton and my player Beck are in a big time competitive match to see who has the better game each night. Stanton was picked up in the later rounds, but is having a better season than many above him. 16 points as a defenseman is pretty good. He had a great defensive rating and held his own against tough competition. Looking forward to see what he does next year! Activity 7/10. Performance 7/10.

Battleborn 27. Anton Harrier - 235 TPE*

Timber 28. Philip Demitra - 316 TPE

Whalers 29. Olof Karsikko - 309 TPE

Raptors 30. Eric Tokke - 285 TPE*

Scarecrows 31. Igor Isyanov - 185 TPE* - Inactive.

Armada 32. LaTrell Mcdonald - 296 TPE

Armada 33. Benjamin Jansson - 220 TPE

Berserkers 34. Evil AllBran - 319 TPE - Activity is decent, definitely getting that TPE. Berserkers found a late round gem. I'll be honest, AllBran did a pretty average job - they weren't popping off the scoreboard, but they weren't a liability either. 19 points this season is respectable for a forward. Is it a coincidence that Evil AllBran's Corsi for this season was 666? I think not! Activity 6/10. Performance 6/10.

Citadelles 35. Darrell Niskala - 214 TPE - Inactive.

Battleborn 36. Harley Fank - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Outlaws 37. Jonathon Hagan - 320 TPE - CampinKiller is a very active poster. One quick look at their posted threads and you see the value in adding this user to any team. I also get the feeling they are very active in the LR. Hagan had a great season as a rookie defenseman. The 4th round steal is an absolute gem. They had 24 points in 66 games as a 3rd pair defenseman. That's fantastic. Corsi was meh, but they had a ton of blocks and hits which makes up for it. A very solid outing the first time around - can't wait to see season 2. Activity 8/10. Performance 9/10.

Scarecrows 38. Jeffrey MacCabe - 210 TPE* - Inactive.

Raptors 39. Karl Detloff - 210 TPE*

Whalers 40. Isiah Lopez - 177 TPE* - Inactive.

Battleborn 41. Leon Doucet - 170 TPE* - Inactive.

Raptors 42. Josiah Hansen - 232 TPE*

Battleborn 43. Wet Jeans - 299 TPE

Whalers 44. Elvis Alexander - 266 TPE*

Falcons 45. Mike Doctor - 216 TPE* - Inactive.

Whalers 46. Gio Marsh - 174 TPE* - Inactive.

Citadelles 47. Kerbal Rais - 168 TPE* - Inactive.

Falcons 48. Janis Pacheks - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Timber 49. DJ Lord - 162 TPE* - Inactive.

Scarecrows 50. Major Chip Hazard - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Outlaws 51. Igor Bursov - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Timber 52. Miles O'Brien - 246 TPE*

Whalers 53. Mikael Andersson - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Raptors 54. Alexander Rask - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Armada 56. Toejam Picker - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Falcons 57. Bugsy O'Hoolihan - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Citadelles 59. Andrew Jackson - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Citadelles 60. Kevin Newman - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Timber 61. Siris Gruggsson - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Armada 68. Dustin Alexander - 155 TPE* - Inactive.

Undrafted:

(A general note about the top undrafted: Congrats, fellas. You're proving people wrong.)

Raptors Senji Seteki - 305 TPE

Falcons Ty Murphy - 302 TPE

Whalers Lev Lebedev - 300 TPE

Falcons Monsieur Pingy Pingu Lunga Gumba Esq. - 296 TPE

Whalers Ragnar Ragnarsson - 291 TPE

Citadelles Nor Dekes - 285 TPE*

Armada Guy Fieri - 274 TPE

Raptors Rinky McDangle - 271 TPE

Timber Rene Pu - 263 TPE

Berserkers Maxwell King - 254 TPE*

Armada Alf Magnusson - 228 TPE*

Knights Patrick Toes - 228 TPE*

Falcons Monster the Doctor - 227 TPE*

Citadelles Francois Gagne - 212 TPE* - Inactive.

Outlaws Tomas Kalnoky - 209 TPE*

Outlaws Rob Ford - 195 TPE*

Knights Corey McFarland - 194 TPE* - Inactive.

Armada Willie MacDougal - 174 TPE*

So there they are. As discussed, you can see a bit of stratification among the prospects - they are starting to break into tiers. Maybe this time next season more and more will break off the top pack. Now SHL clubs have the task of sorting out the zeros from heroes and the gems from the busts.

(Note: I'll be honest, I got tired of previewing every player lol. I started to pick and choose by the second round there. If you feel left out and want me to do (or add to) your write-up, comment below and I'll happily oblige.)

Cheers everyone,
