(GRADED) Deep Dive #2 Nevada Battleborn, 4 points in 22 games - Lobbanet - 07-05-2021

This i quite a sad topic but for some people, like myself it could be very interesting to do a deep dive about. So lets check under the hood of Nevada and see if we can find out why they are so bad after 22 games so far in the season.

The easy answer for this would be to say that half of the team are players drafted from the most recent class, and thats true i guess. Its pretty hard to stay competetive when all your players are rookies. Fair enough. They only have Rude Sniff as a S57 draftee and Vladlen Sidorov from S58, and he isnt looking like the most active guy. Lots of pizza and chocolate in his belly. Eero Makela from S59 who currently sits at -25 +/- for the season even tough he played good averaging 23 minutes a game. Pretty damn heavy minutes, cant be very fun for him playing with all the rookies. And then you got Jimmy and Anton from the S60 class also playing solid minutes for the team. Hopefully they stick around so see their rookies develop along with them.

And then they have the huge pool of rookies from the most recent class of S61 with a massive 13 players, most of them very active with Melvin Majestik-Moose leading the way in to the future for the Nevada Battleborn. Melvin together with Willie Miller could develop the team to be a really strong contender for the 4-star cup in say maybe 2 seasons? If everything pans out correctly and they manage to keep the team going with rooking developing nicely in the future to follow their current rookies. Obviously after this season they will again have a bunch of nice draft picks who can step in the third or fourth line next season and cover up the current defensive mess. Willie Miller will also become much better the next season giving Nevada a solid level of goalkeeping. So if and, there are many ifs, they manage to continue riding the storm this season and the next, things will get a lot easier.

Looking at the draft picks, they need pretty much players on all positions. Maybe not a goalie since they already have Willie Miller, they can draft another goalie in 2 years and still stay competetive and always have a good starter. They should try to draft atleast 2 centers next year, good teams always have depth on that position and the recent class did help hem out with centers but maybe not as good as they hoped. Defensemen are also always good to have so i think we can assume they will draft something like 2 centers, 2 defensemen and 1 winger the upcoming draft. Wich has been rumoured to be a reddit draft. But i havent seen that confirmed yet. They should have to much to worry about either at the upcoming expansiondraft with 2 new teams coming to the leauge. They can protect their active core and weed out the rest pretty much if they wanted.

So the Nevada Battleborn might look stupid and bad now, but in a season or two, they will be good. Perhaps even a contender.
