New Orleans Specters Punishment - Sean - 08-14-2021
Hey SHL Community,
Earlier today, New Orleans Traded a 2nd that they did not own. SHL HO Caught it and did not approve the trade. According to the rules
Code:
If a team trades a pick they do not possess at the time of the trade, they will lose their closest, highest owned 3rd round pick. A second infraction of this rule will result in the GM being fired.While the consequences of this infraction specifically were minimal, this rule is in place because of how important it is for SHL GMs to be fully aware of their pick situation, and we’ve seen numerous times in the past how badly a double traded pick can impact the process for all GMs at the SHL level.
Therefore, the punishment is as follows:
- The New Orleans Specters forfeit their next team-owned 3rd round selection, which will be the 41st pick in the S61 draft. Tagging @JKortesi81 and @Pythonic for visibility.
The previous example of this punishment was from Tampa Bay Barracuda
As always, Head Office continues to work on ways to catch infractions like this as early as possible, and while we never enjoy dolling out a punishment, I’m really happy that our draft trade processing system has allowed us to minimize the fallout that stems from situations like this.
