(GRADED)Deep Dive #2 - The Undrafted - Dangles13 - 02-09-2022 The undrafted free agents usually only get one day in the sunlight, the day they sign with a team. Those of us fortunate enough to be included in the draft get a few days of buildup where we get scouted and get to compete against our peers for the top honours in the draft. I thought it would be fun to give the UDFAs some love right now. C - Daniel Benson Benson is a prospect who hails from a family with a legendary pedigree. The Swedish centre has only managed to find the back of the net six times and accumulate 17 points in 56 games making it look like Daniel will not live up to the family standards. I hope they prove me wrong and can turn it around. D - Duke MacDonald-Gagné A team-worst -20 in their forty games played looks like a bad mark for the rookie blueliner but Duke manages to provide a certain toughness that keeps opponents honest. I do hope they manage to shore up their defensive skills without losing that mean streak. D - Richard Dickbutt McFudderdudder II Another rookie from Anchorage, who is playing winger instead of their preferred position of defence. Early returns are underwhelming but I think once Richard settles into a familiar role they will see improved play. G - Keith Kākāpō The backup goalie has acquitted themselves quite well in their 26 games. They look poised for a solid junior career as long as they can find the drive to keep working. LW - Antonio Governo The towering forward from Glasgow has eleven points in thirty-three games and I think that the future is bright here. The physical game combined with a scoring touch will be a nice addition to the league. RW - JR Frankenstero An offensive dynamo from Reykjavik has scored an incredible thirty-two points in fifty-one games. Despite a late start to their career, Frankenstero has shown early promise and will be one to watch at the next level. RW - James James James has only been able to get into eight games so far but already has two career goals. With so little to go on, we are left to speculate and I predict a very solid junior career is about to begin. LW - Ike Broflovski Ike has shown a propensity for firing the puck and has seven goals in fifty-seven games to show for it. As Detroit works through their rebuild Ike should be able to improve their overall game. LW - Pil Sung A raw prospect with only sixteen games under their belt, Sung appears to have a ways to go with only one point in those games. It would be unfair to write the player off after a slow start and so I would caution patience with the young lad. C - Shylo Moxii A fun player who has also had a slow start in their first twenty-six games, amassing three points in that span. The boxcar stats don't tell the full story, there is a lot of working going on behind the scenes that scouts are noticing. LW - Ambrosia Snow Snow has as many points as teammate Moxii but in eight fewer games. That has to spark a friendly rivalry that will carry these two into the upcoming draft. LW - Olivia Kunai One point in three games is a decent start for this behemoth of a player. Methinks Kunai might be imposing for some of the other players out there. RD - double lutz Zero points in three games pretty much guarantee this player's career is over. Too bad because they were so young. I am going to have to wrap it up here as I am pressed for time but if you did not see yourself on this list then please stay tuned during draft season. I will do my best to highlight the best of the best in the upcoming draft. RE: (GRADED)Deep Dive #2 - The Undrafted - CptSquall - 02-13-2022 Approved, +5 TPE to @Dangles13 |
