The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different goalies.
As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the preseason and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.
We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.
Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

The only reason I haven't retired my goalie and recreated as a skater is the hope that we eventually switch to FMH 8 in my player's lifetime and hopefully goalie TPE will matter.

Okay so I did not actually email these guys (surprising, I know), but I actually did the math on this, I booted up ye olde FHM and grabbed builds for Patrick Roy and Mike Vernon from the season in question.
Patrick Roy's build at that current point in time comes out to 1728 TPE (always possible i missed a little math since the player builder doesn't let me edit certain attributes).
Mike Vernon's build comes out to 1098 TPE.
So it's not quite 1900 TPE but it is about 630 TPE there. For those asking.
