(GRADED)Deep Dive #2 - Nevadas Rookies - bk1689 - 08-26-2022

In this deep dive, we will take a look at the likely league champion, Nevada Battleborns draft and see how each member of the rookie team helped this season with the teams success.

Pick 1, Round 1 - RW - Alexi Piastri - 265 TPE
Nevada started off very strong with this pick. @vbottas recreat Piastri is an offensive masterpiece of a player. 56 points on the season saw him fall just short of a PPG pace which is fantastic for a rookie. 23 goals, 33 assists, he is a threat no matter if hes thinking pass or shoot. His 14.2% shooting percentage proves how dangerous his release is. A natural right winger, Piastri was convinced by his new team to give a try at centre. A faceoff percentage of 53.5% is great as well for a veteran, let alone a rookie that has never played the position before. This player was a huge cog in the machine of the Battleborn.

Round 2, Pick 25 - C - Paul Peterson - 296 TPE
@tdz has created one hell of a player here, and how he fell to the second round is beyond me. 29 goals and 42 assists for an astounding 72 points on the year. Nevada hit it out of the park with this offensive dynamo. 296 TPE puts him right up near the top of the class in earners and he is making everyone pay for passing over him not once, but twice. Another rookie that is great at faceoffs as well with a 53.8% win rate. This just goes to prove how much of a help it is to have players that can win the puck and give you control right off the bat in this league. Being one of the top rated rookies also may help a little bit.

Round 4, Pick 43 - LW - Foxy - 209 TPE
A LW recreate in Foxy was Nevadas pick after a 1 round hiatus. And just like the 2 rookies before them, Foxy also had a stellar offensive campaign. 15 goals, 28 assists and all while seeing no special teams time is great season for the rookie. The 108 times Foxy lined someone up is also a huge help in this 2 way players game. Players are constantly thinking twice anytime they see Foxy step over the bench and know they need to keep their head on a swivel.

Round 5, Pick 67 - Baby Shark
Not much can be said about this player as I see no record of him having ever touched the ice. Who is this mysterious man? Some say Shark was the best player they ever saw touch the ice, others said players only said that out of fear of him. Unfortunately, we will l never know what could have been.

So there you have it. A look at the very successful team Nevada has assembled and how each one of their picks contributed along the way, instead of just being a body out on the ice. A team that was comprised of veteran players
