The Ideen Fallah Trophy for MVP as decided by the Awards Committee is the most coveted individual award in the juniors league. Who is on track to win it this season?

bnana n waffles (det) - 77 points is insane, leads the league in goals and is second in assists. may be benefiting from playing on a standout line with bastein primeau and jojo larkin but is driving play extremely well with insane advanced stats (56.9 corsi for, and a staggering gf/60 and ga/60 ration of 5.2 to 2.6). my favorite to be the mvp, and and not simply because of the scoring
sophie bordeleau (qcc) - much has been said about bordeleau's stellar junior career, including by the player, so i won't waste your time. 69 points (nice) and 36 goals, but with linemate portgas d. ace producing at a similar clip, it's hard to see bordeleau getting many votes
billy blazes (yum) - yukon have been a middle of the pack team, but blazes has truly shined this year. 65 points, 9 more than his nearest teammate, and while his advanced stats aren't the best, they paint the picture of a player whose team is worse with him off the ice and better with him on it. if the awards committee is going for a van der heijden over williams type jawn, blazes will garner first place votes. it's between him and waffles.
aleksandr iskrandrov (van) - the whalers have been absolutely mediocre, but iskandrov, with 59 points, has been by far their standout player. if we're looking at a player the most valuable to his team, that is what iskandrov is. his advanced stats are interesting (poor corsi and fenwick, and while his team gets outshot with him on the ice, they outscore opponents), but he will garner down ballot votes and probably sneak his way into the top 3.

The obvious choice is Bnana NWaffles, because having 77 points right now is insane. Split nearly evenly between goals and assists is huge, we also can't ignore the 69 (nice) points of Sophie Bordeleau. They're a big force on QCC, but I don't think they're as valuable to their team as NWaffles is to DET. COL has some big hitters with Koivu and Nilsson at 63 & 61 points respectively, along with Pedersen at 59 for a high powered forward line. MET also has Mando Lorian and Nibbles The Squirrel in the first page of point leaders, along with REG having David-Arturri Donskoi as well. Looking at these leaders, I just have to give it to Bnana NWaffles. They're the most impactful for their respective team, and in my opinion are the most valuable to their team. The closest person on their team is down 21 points from them, that's so huge that I don't know how you pick anyone else

There is definitely a few people that have stood out from the rest. Look no further than Detroit to see the first major standout of this season. Bnana NWaffles is not only leading the league in goals but is top 3 in assists and first in points by a large margin! He has single handedly helped propel detriot to an unforeseen season. Secondly on the list should be one Sophie Bordeleau, who has helped QCC sit 3rd in the league. She is second in the league in points and trails NWaffles in goals and total points. Now throwing a home town nod in here for top players this year. Looking at Emil Egli as one of the top defenseman of this season. He is currently leading all the D men in the league in points with 46 and has been crucial in The Timbers success after a rocky start. He has not only had a career year but has shown the way for the young newcomers in Maine.

Currently the front runner for this prestigious trophy is Bnana NWaffles of the Detroit Falcons, and it's not even remotely close. With a staggering 77 points in 50 games played, if the trophy were handed out right now, it'd be to him. This also doesn't mention that he leads the league in plus/minus, goals and assists as well, you'd expect him to not be top in at least one of those catagories. Runners up currently include Sophie Boreleau of the Quebec City Citadels who is hot on NWaffles trail for the potential goals lead as well as being the closest player to NWaffles in points with 69. Our other potential option is a toss up, however, I believe that Billy Blazes of the Yukon Malmutes is the third outside shot with a very balanced season between goalscoring and asists to sit third in points but not terribly high up in the league leader positions for goals and assists.

The current favorite for MVP has to be Bnana NWaffles, who currently leads the league in Goals, Points, and Plus-Minus, while also sitting third in Assists. The advanced stats also look good with a top five ranking in both CF% Relative and FF% Relative. Detroit currently sports a 31-16-3 record, good for 4th place in the league thanks in large part due to NWaffles performance this season. His 77 points puts him well ahead of second place Sophie Bordeleau's 69. NWaffles' linemates Bastien Primeau (56 points) and JoJo Larkin (52 points) are having solid seasons but are still well behind the production of their prolific centerman. Many of the other potential candidates feature linemates with similar production, such as Bordeleau's linemate Portgas G. Ace's 64 points or the Koivu-Pederson-Nilsson line of Colorado featuring three players within 4 points of each other. It likely will require a bit of a slowdown in production from Nwaffles down the stretch for someone to overtake him for MVP. The aforementioned Bordeleau/Ace duo and any of the Colorado top line could do it if they are able to separate themselves from not only their fellow MVP contenders, but their linemates as well. One potential dark horse is Alexsandr Iskandrov, with 59 points in a barely above .500 Vancouver team. Iskandrov is the only 50+ point player without a Point-per-Game linemate and features a +15 rating, impressive for a player on a team sitting in the middle of the pack.

The obvious choice, as you can see from the posts above is Banana NWaffles as 77 points this season is NUTTY. My issue with that is that ive always had issues with the MVP being awarded to a team thats not top of the pops, so instead I will do an MVP from each of the top 5 teams, as its a pretty close running. So without further ado, lets start with the current fifth place team.
5) Maine Timber: Emil Egli Defence- while there really is no stand out player for Maine as a collective, when you narrow it down to position Emil stands out for sure. With 46 points on the season Emil is the best defencemen on the team in terms of point production by far with almost double the next player.
4) Detroit Falcons: Banana nWaffles Center- I dont even need to justify this. 77 points is good enough for first in the league by 9 points going into the final week. If they can hold onto it, that will be amazing.
3) Quebec City Citadels: Caleb Hayden Goalie- holy shit, 30 and 12 record in 43 games. Safe to say if this goalie was even slightly more average, Quebec would be middle of the pack, but instead Caleb has decided to do his best Connor Hellebuck impressions this season doing whatever he can to keep QCC in the conversation.
2) Regina Elk: Davi-Arturri Donskoi LW- honestly it was hard picking here, no real stand out player, goalies seem to be pretty average with their starting goalie posting a 2:1 ratio. 56 points is good enough for top of the team though and thats pretty cool.
1) Nevada Battleborn: Ragnar Lothbrok Defense, and Dexter Harrison Goalie- this one is tough as with an objective view there also arent really any stand out players, without context. Harrison is rocking a 24-9 record slightly better than a 2:1, which has been quite helpful for a team that has struggled at times to start the game in the first period. Lothbrok, while not standing out in terms of just players on even footing is doing well for a defencemen, well enough for 3rd in the league for defensive points, that is until you remember he is a rookie. While he might not be the leading rookie scorer, that spot belonging to Bastien Primeau with 56, he is the top rookie Dman and also isnt playing on a line with the current scoring leader in the SMJHL. That player is also me so a little nepotism there for the soul

Jason Funderburker here with SMJHLAnalytics.com to discuss the MVP race as the season begins to wind down. With only 15 or so games remaining for each team, there are a few frontrunners for the MVP award.
The obvious frontrunner for the award has got to be Detroit's Bnana NWaffles, who is currently running away with the league lead in goals at 38 and points at 77 in 50 games, and is posting an absolutely staggering +38 in +/-. This is made even more impressive by his middling ATOI, at only 15th in the league in time-on-ice for centers. However, for those of you who pay a little bit more attention to the analytics side of things, NWaffles is far from an analytics darling, coming in at only 10th in the league in overall grade and 20th in offensive grade. Top spot in both OGR and GR goes to Regina's LW David-Arturri Donskoi, whose 30 goals and 26 assists are leading Regina into a very strong playoff spot and contending with the Nevada Battleborn for the #1 seed. You additionally can't count out what Regina goalie Alexis Texas is doing between the pipes. Posting a league-leading .905 Save % for goalies over 20 games played, Texas has also been an important part of Regina's fantastic season.
It'll be exciting to see how the rest of the season shakes out.

Bnana NWaffles on DET is the front runner to win the award for sure. 77 points is huge, especially up 9 points on second in the league. His line mates are good as well, but he still has a 21 point lead over them showing he is the one leading the charge on that team. League leading in +/- as well and is also 60% in the circle, he is truly the one the beat for the trophy. Sophie Bordeleau has to be next in line, currently 69 (nice) points and second in goals scored. I believe David-Arturri Donskoi to be in the running, topping the league in GR and OGR and still being top 10 in points. Goalie Caleb Hayden is doing everything to keep QCC up in the standinds. 30 wins, and 6 shutouts both league leading is impressive, but with a .893 sv% can't see it being enough for MVP. All said, this is Bnana NWaffles to lose, and with a week to go he would have to fall off a cliff, and he still might win.

With somewhat valid reaasoning behind their madness, other analysts will be looking at points, namely goals and assists, as a tool to determine who in a given championship would deserve the honor of being named league MVP. As a newly respectable figure within the league, hockey connoisseur and visionary, Tukin Boutus, prefers to base his determinations around an often forgotten advanced statistic to influence his choice when comes the time to fill his MVP ballot : PDO. Some, such as @RAmenAmen (hater) would say this stat cannot be trusted, at a fault. Despite this, PDO is a solid, valid stat that should be considered always, take Tukin's commitment to truth as all the validity you need for this. As such, here is the top 5 of players that should be considered for MVP of S67 of the SMJHL.

2: Ralph Ryan (C, REG) - 105.9
T3: David-Arturri Donskoi (LW, REG) - 105.8

I will be looking at the top MVP contender for forwards, defenseman, and goalie.
As a surprise to no one reading this and as everyone said above me, the clear favorite is Bnana Waffles from the Detroit Falcons. With 16 games left, Bnana currently leads the league in points (77) and goals (38) while being tied for third in assists (39) and faceoff win % (60.2 minimum of 100 attempts). Not only are his traditional stats great, his advanced stats are just as strong. His 56.7% Corsi and 56.6 Fenwick are strong and his CF% relative and FF% relative are top 5 in the league. Bnana has the strongest case of any player looking to win the MVP
The defending champions Nevada Battleborn have a strong roster, but their rookie defender Ragnar Lothbrok has taken the league by storm with an astounding season. He currently ranks as the top scoring point producing rookie defenseman and third overall in defenseman points. On the powerplay Ragnar ranks 2nd among defenseman in points and he leads all defenseman in shorthanded points. The advanced statistics back-up his claim as the best defenseman and shot at the MVP. Ragnar leads all defenseman in possession numbers with a 61.9 CF% and 62.0 FF%. The best player on currently the best team in the league has to have a shot at winning some votes for the MVP.
The leading MVP candidate for goalies this year could only be Caleb Hayden from Quebec City Citadelles. With a league leading 30 wins and 6 shutouts, Caleb has helped elevate Quebec City among the top teams in the J this year. He played the second most minutes this year and in is the top 10 for both GAA and SV%. If he can help deliver the Citadelles deep into the playoffs, Caleb Hayden has a strong chance of bringing home the MVP.

I want to take a page out of my teammate @minaj27 's approach, largely because I don't know how much more can really be said about Bnana NWaffles and I like VaRieTy.
MVP always favours the flashy stats, so NWaffles is an easy shoe-in as a contender. He's at or very near the top of the leaderboard in goals, assists, points, shots, shooting percentage, and plus/minus. If it's an offensive stat, Bnana is chilling there like he owns it. Even ignoring the numbers themselves, he is a huge reason for Detroit's success and that quite literally makes him their most valuable player. He's the "even with a blindfold" pick.
A defenseman pick is harder to sort out because you have to decide what about them is important in making them most valuable at their position. If I went with the all-rounder approach, I'd be going full homer biased and pick Alexander Minaj. I know he's a rookie, BUT: dude is in the mix for everything among his fellow dmen. Not only does he rock in offensive stats, but he also right up there in hits and plays a very clean game especially in comparison to other D who are above him in scoring. That said, my MVP from the defense group is Nash Topalo, entirely because he's adorbs and also tackles everything that moves.
As for the goaltenders, I actually WILL go full, unrepentant homer and put forward Caleb Hayden as my pick. He doesn't necessarily have the impressive individual stats other goalies in the league do. Many of them excel in one place or another, but Hayden is more often than not the deciding factor in QCC games in that he can watch his entire team collapse in front of him like pollen-drunk honey bees and steals the game for them. Even with 116 GA and a not so elite GAA of 2.75, he's #1 in wins and shutouts. Also want to give a special shoutout to the tandem duo of Jackson Cannon and Alexis Texas in REG.

I wanted to be a bit different, but I cant help it, Bnana NWaffle has too much in term of stats to just toss him aside, and pick someone else. Right now he's standing at 80 points in 53 games, that is crazy good, and he is leading in that departement with 7 more points than the second place that is Sophie Bordeleaux right now. He is in the top 10 of a lot of category too, 1st in goals, 4th in assists, equal first in plus minus with his teamate Cob Corning, and 1st in %shots with 23%. All these achievements, with a team that was not supose to be that good according to some experts at the start of the season. NWaffle surely helped them to get where they at now, and that is what an MVP do, he make everyone around him better, and maybe it will help Detroit to get far in the playoff.

For a long stretch of the season, it seemed as though the season's MVP was lining up to be Quebec City's own Sophie Bordeleau who currently has 38 goals, 35 assists for 73 points with a plus-minus of 15 as well as 168 shots on goals and a shot percentage of 22.75. However, that award was taken away from her seemingly by the emergence of Detroit Falcon's Captain Bnana NWaffles who currently sits on top of the leaderboard with 39 goals, 41 assists for 80 points with an impressive plus-minus of 38. He also has 169 shots on goals to date with a shot percentage of 23.08. Coming into third could be considered who may become Rookie of the Year in Detroit's Bastien Primeau. The 22nd pick overall for Season 67 has gathered an impressive tally with 26 goals, 31 assists for 57 points, and a plus-minus of 22. The kid leads the rookies in points so far this season, it must be said and he has a shot percentage of 19.26.
Defensively if we were to name an MVP the award could go to Main's Emil Egli who currently leads the scoreboard with 49 points including 13 goals and 36 assists. Detroit's Julian Florsh is easily in the discussion as well who is at 44 points including 15 goals and 29 assists. Detroit rookie Nash Topalo cannot be ignored either with 38 points, including 30 assists and a plus-minus of 23. Detroit's Cob Corning could also be considered he who seems to be often at the right place at the right time with a plus-minus of 38 and 25 assists to his name.
In front of the net, Quebec City's Caleb Hayden seems to be skating away with the win with 32 wins, including 6 shutouts and 1012 saves on the counter with a goal-against average of 2.72. Detroit's Jeff Newman is close behind he who has 27 wins to his name, a goal-against average of 2.70 and 997 saves to his name.

Just by looking at the offensive stats most people are going to see Bnana NWaffles of the Detroit Falcons
and immediately think, there is your MVP. He has 39 goals, 41 assists for a league leading 80 points, by far the league lead. He has his team in contention for the playoffs and a cup run, which in my opinion is a requirement for MVP. Will I buck this trend by picking someone else? Well the short answer is no. There isn't a clear competitor on the offensive side. Looking back at D I think Emil Egli : of the Maine Timber
has made a case for himself. He definitely has the offensive numbers as a defensemen however his plus/minus at only a +6 is hurting his chances.I took a look at the goalies as well but I don't feel anyone has really established themselves as an MVP candidate form between the pipes. Sure Caleb Hayden has a league leading 32 wins however that 2.72 GAA and .894 save percentage tell me that he is a product of a good team in front of him.
