HIRED: Unified Sim Team Head - sköldpaddor - 11-21-2022

Good afternoon SHL!

As discussed in the SOTU, we are beginning the process of transitioning to one unified sim team across the site for all four leagues (SHL, SMJHL, IIHF, and WJC), to take effect in S69. We are now hiring a Sim Team Head to manage this team, who will be responsible for the following:
  • Hiring/maintaining a team of simmers to carry out simming for all four leagues
  • Making sure that simmers follow a set of standards developed in coordination with the head offices, including standards for both presentation and procedure
  • Coordinating sim scheduling across all four leagues
  • Working with all head offices to improve the viewing experience for users
  • Addressing any issues in a timely manner and ensuring good communication between simmers and GMs
We have some guidelines and concepts that have been written up with input from head office members from all four leagues, but this is something we are glad to work on with whoever is hired for this position.

We do not have a set application template for this position, but some things that we’d like to know if you’re interested:
  • Your activity level (this is likely to be fairly demanding time-wise, especially early on)
  • Prior experience that may help you in this role
  • What do you think the primary issues are with the current streaming setup/experience?
  • Do you have any ideas for improving the viewing experience that you’d like to see implemented?
Pay for this position is 14.5M per season, with the possibility of a PT pass in the future depending on the workload and division of labor in the new system. Current SHL/SMJHL GMs may not serve in this role (if you are currently a GM and are interested in leaving that role for this one, please mention that in your app).

Applications for this position are due Monday, December 5th, at 11:59 PM PST. If you would like to apply for this position or have any questions, please reach out to me or any other member of HO on discord or the site.

I think we drew this process out about as long as we could lol.

We had a bunch of really great applications for the position. I’m pleased to announce that we will be moving forward with @_Blitz_ and @SDCore working together at the top of the Sim Team. Congratulations Smile

Elite duo!
Congrats!

I'm hopeful that these two can bring new and exciting things to the league and the sim team as a whole. I also wish that there was more communication and discussion with the other applicants during this process. I feel like better due diligence could have been done in this hiring process, but I also trust that HO has made a decision that has the best interest for the league at it's heart.

I have to agree with smith. During my interview process I felt that I HO gave me their absolute bare minimum amount of effort and professionalism, which was rather shocking given the severity and importance of the position that was being hired for, but I am interested to see how the decision that was made plays out.
