S70 SMJHL Awards nomination - Anthique - 05-14-2023
Hello!
It's my pleasure to bring you the candidates for the S70 SMJHL Awards! Again, the last season was a thrilling one with a lot of tight races, and aside from a few incredible domination performances, it was really hard to choose one winner. Narrowing these awards down to just a few finalists was incredibly difficult, and for every name listed here there are half a dozen who were just on the outside looking in.
Congrats to all SMJHL players for their season!

They deserve credit in great drafting.
Rookies getting a lot of points doesn't nessicarily translate to team success.
Vancouver finished lower middle in the standings and they loaded their rookies in minutes helping the rookies have success.
The rookies did amazing. In a season or two the team will likely be the team to beat and the seeds the gm has planted will grow earning honors they deserve at that time.

For the GM Awards, team success is a bigger factor than having 3 good rookies. We are looking at teams that are having great success in the last 2-3-4 seasons, and it's simply not the case yet for them.
Like spidey said, it's too early in their process, but I'm confident that Vancouver will be a team to watch in the upcoming seasons and they will be there at some point.

GMotY is probably the only award that's rated close to a yearly basis. Unless it's changed, it's based on performance in the last 3 seasons.
