Amenities Wish-list

Sven is a huge believer that the arena is just as important as the team playing in it. It’s critical to provide a fun environment that has activities for people of all ages. When the owner let the Malamutes know that they were willing to invest $100M SHL dollars into renovating the arena and that they wanted the teams ideas, Sven jumped at one in particular. “I want to see an area set up for kids where they can go play together during games. We should have a floor hockey rink for them, a spot for them to take shots with a radar, and a spot where they can put on goalie pads and save foam pucks shot from a machine at different speeds. Kids who grow up having fun with the game of hockey grow up to love the game of hockey, and nothing is more important to me than growing the game.”

CREATIVE PROMPT / STORY MODE - Location, Location, Location

Written Task:

With the addition of the new arena it was pretty is a pretty good location. So it would make sense that the new arena would be built close to it in order to utilize the current parking. Not only is this part of the plan but they will be tearing down the old arena in order to build a new entertainment district for the new arena. Filled with bars and restaurants to create a new hub around the arena. Of course they will also have some hotels for those visiting to come and be able to walk to the game. On top of this the team voted on having a name for the new rink! There were a few names proposed but in the end the players had the final say as they are the main reason for the new rink being built in the first place. It was a close battle between The Foundary and Secret of the Ooze as both seemed completely fitting for the team. But in the end the Foundary is the one that won out!

Creative Prompt:

The new arena will be located in downtown NYC across the street from Madison Square Garden. It will be called "Garden 2" because that's a modern hip way to name an arena. The arena district is obviously similar to MSG, but some better, more impactful development will be built around the new stadium. As part of the construction, the financing group is upgrading the NYC transit system to enhance the transportation experience of the fans. The group will also set up an alcohol zone within the block so patrons can go between the local bars and the stadium without having to toss the beer. It will basically be a big playground. The team will use MSG as a practice arena because its so close. Eventually by the year 2140, multiple Gardens will be built and the whole area will just be referred to as "Paradise." There is a long term plan that will transform NYC into hockey central. Look out central park!

Amenities Wish-list

When Baltimore Platoon player Thomas Liebold heard that they were getting a new arena for the team he was ecstatic and he could not wait to see all of the fancy features that would be in the rink. one of the most important things he wanted to see in the rink was a nice locker room. a locker room is the most important part of the facility because it can attract people to want to play for the team and it is where the team spends most of their time so a nice comfortable locker room can help build team chemistry. the most important thing for the locker room to have is high quality showers, great water pressure and a clean shower area are a must. the locker room also needs to have a ping pong table for the players to use and an area in the film room with tvs and gaming consoles to the players can relax and hang out when theyre not playing hockey

Player Prompt:

As newly appointed team captain of the Yukon Malamutes, Alvin Wong had gained considerable influence within the locker room and with the management staff. With this newfound influence, he created a wish-list of amenities for both players and fans that he would like to see in the new stadium.

For the fan amenities, Wong would like to see more excitement and engagement with the fans during game days, so before and after every game there will be 1 hour of public ice time for fans to skate on the same ice as their idols. This will include free skate rentals as well as a chance to meet players as they join them for a quick warm up skate as well. The fans will be able to take home any sweat towels that the players leave behind (no matter the condition). During games, fans will be invited to take a plunge in the new ice pool (heated hot spring) that will be located rink side at center ice, the kicker? The boards along the pool will ALSO be clear like the glass, so fans can see the action alongside the rink/pool while taking a dip, and fans/players not in the pool can see the swimming action in the pool vice versa!

For the players, Wong has requested individual hot tubs and ice baths be installed into their new enlarged player stalls. Each stall will also have a massage chair, PS5/Xbox/Switch system with built in monitor so players can kick back and have lan parties in between periods, before, and after games.

Player Prompt

In Texas, we build a new arena like 2 season ago so the team already asked the players what they should have, and they delivered.

First, as a goalie we need space to stretch and make some exercises that players don't have to do. So in the weights room, we needed space and special equipment to train.

Second, a place to eat. A kitchen with some food that are prepared by some chef with all the things we have to eat to have enough energy for a game or a training.

After that a place where we can relax and chill alone or in group. After a good training, we need to relax our mind and our body so a spot to read a book, watch the news or a movie.

We also asked for a mini rink (like half a real one), where we can but our skate and test some new stick, new moves and one-on-one training. Sometime we get some new pads and want to try them on the ice before a real practice so we go there. Same thing for the players with new skates or new stick.

I think the most bang for the buck in stadium amenities has to be the bathrooms and their configuration and layout within the stadium. I am sure everyone here has had the awful experience of standing in the bathroom line for 20+ minutes just to have that beer they are drinking in line want to work its way back out of you 20 minutes later to start the process again.

Now I can not say what the perfect solution is, but I have to imagine there can be some statistics that can be run to figure out how to get that wait time down. There would probably be some mix of number of bathrooms, number of stalls, and locations that can help get this wait time down to a more managable number. Then to take that a step further, the huge line just clogs the walkways making everything else slower and really adds to overall congestion. Someone has got to be able to figure this out.

Time for a new rink in Kelowna! I think there are a ton of options available that could work really well for the city, the fans, and the players. Right now the current rink is located in downtown Kelowna which is a fantastic location but it isn't anything to wow about. Ownership would love to have something that amazes and can be the setting not just for hockey but concerts as well. Therefore I am proposing that the new rink should be built on top of the famous Okanagan lake with walking access from the beaches of Kelowna. This is a great opportunity to build something unique and utilize the lake for which Kelowna is world renown for. The rink should include features that promote not only hockey (water and ice) but also embrace the lake and numerous activities that Kelowna has to offer so out of town visitors can get a full cultural experience.
