It’s been a little bit since we last had one of these as we have built up quite a backlog but not to worry! There will be plenty of ceremonies in the coming months in order to catch us up to speed and celebrate the exceptional players of this league, those remarkable few who truly stand out from the competition and will enjoy undying fame and glory in the virtual hockey worlds equivalent of Valhalla! Before we begin I would like to remind everyone of how the voting procedure works. Each member of the committee (in people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for a 5th). These points are then totalled and all players who receive 35 points or more are inducted into the hall. Also note that each voter must provide a short written piece to back up their choice. Let's get straight to it by celebrating the players who have phased out of voting, and shout out an honourable mention who was close to getting in this season but ultimately fell just short. RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 There were five players who were on the ballot for the final time during Season 65 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame. Liam O'Callaghan S39-S43 | S44-S49 | S50-S51 | S52-S53 | S54-S55 | S56-S57 Reginald MacIntyre S41-S57 Nicholas Williams S43-45 | S46-57 | S57 Jack Tanner S37-55 | S56 Rafe Ulrich S42-S56 RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 We are very pleased to announce that we have two players and a GM to induct today, but before we announce the actual inductees of this season I’d like to acknowledge a player that did not make it into the Hall this year but still received a substantial amount of votes. RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Barret McCarthy S44-57 | S58-59 748GP 94G 370A 464PTS +74 985HITS 1269SB McCarthy received a total of 34 votes (2 1st, 2 3rd, 1 4th, 1 5th), but is still eligible for next season's Hall of Fame. RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Now on to our inductees! RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 JR95 - 70 Votes

RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - luke - 08-04-2023 Congrats jr RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Matt Kholin - 73 Votes

Career regular season stats: GP: 846 | G: 322 | A: 486 | P: 808
Challenge Cup Champion (S55) 2-Time 2nd Team All-Star Ryan Jesster Trophy Nominee (S48) Jeff Dar Trophy Nominee (S54) Aidan Richan Trophy Nominee (S54) “Matt Kholin had an impressive career and went on to help Buffalo win cups with the most playoff points out of eligible players, he has the second most points amongst eligible players less then 30 back of winters with over 100 less games player. While he did not win any awards he was nominated for a few and has gained some all star recognition." “Almost a point per game player for 850 games. Lived on the powerplay, but that probably just means they were effective. Killer instinct in the playoffs leading their team to 2 cups and multiple all-star and trophy nominations." “Kholin did it all. When he was traded from Tampa to Buffalo in his prime, he was a big name as one of the best centers in the league, but what he achieved afterwords was remarkable. His performance put him into talk of HoF as he was one of the major key pieces to a dominating Buffalo team season after season. It is difficult to separate the Hall of Fame user from the player here, but I do think his domination is deserving of a 1st ballot HoF. His power play points shows how devastating he was on special teams, at over 20 more than the next highest and his games played is honestly a relatively small number in comparison with other players who have totaled similar numbers - we're talking over 100 games played less than comparable - or 2 full seasons." Congratulations @Kalakar! RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Now onto our third and final inductee of the S65 SHL Hall of Fame ceremony! RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - Tomen - 08-04-2023 _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Big stick taps for a great player! RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Philipp Winter - 78 Votes

1 Time 1st Team All-Star 1 Time 3rd Team All-Star Ron Mexico Trophy (S52) Sergei Karpotsev Trophy (S52) Jay McDonald Trophy (S52) “Winters has the highest points amongst eligible players, won a mexico trophy as mvp and a couple other awards, was consistently dominant throughout his career, also had some all star appearances." “Good points ratio and one-time league MVP. Holds multiple LAP franchise records. 4 games shy of 1000, so longevity is there. Also decent SB/hits ratio to games played for a scoring forward." “Winter really has all you want to see on a HoF resume. Longevity, nearly 1000 games played, as well as great production and a strong multifaceted game. Although he lacks success in the playoffs he did play out the majority of his career during the period where both Calgary and Edmonton were absolute beasts so you can't really fault LAP for not going all the way. He also has some individual hardware from his best season (S52), including the Mexico." “Winter slides in next, and especially when talking about comparables. He does have more than 100 more gp than Kholin, but he has more Goals, Points, shots, and significantly more hits. Also I believe his longevity to be an asset as well in this case. It shows a huge tenure where he was very good for a long time." Congratulations to @RomanesEuntDomus! RE: Season 65 Hall of Fame Ceremony - hockeyfan - 08-04-2023 Thank you so much everybody! That wraps up the S65 SHL Hall of Fame ceremony - see you all again for S66! |
