SMJHL MEDIA RULES - MikeLiut - 11-04-2023

Welcome to the SHL Media sub-forum where you can write about the SHL universe to earn money to do cool things like improve your player, buy signatures, gamble, bribing simmers, etc. We live in a digital age where media comes in a vast array of formats. Any creative endeavour undertaken in this forum can potentially earn you money, but there are rules to the game and they are as follows:

The media grading team will be reading/listening/viewing every submission fully and if we feel like they consist of fluff and show little to no effort, your payment will be subject to heavy deduction. This will eliminate spam articles that people just hash out to try and get easy cash.

Grammar is taken into account, but as long as you show an effort, you'll get cold hard cash. People from other countries who may know English as a 2nd or 3rd language are more than welcome to submit media. These guys may be working just as hard or even harder than some of us who have spoken English our entire lives. They will not be penalized.

In addition, all media to be graded is to be posted in the general media section. Anything posted in another subforum will not be graded. In addition, any article that has been posted for at least two weeks, unless you have specifically told the graders, will be graded as is. So if you have a long-term article, make sure to let us know ahead of time.

We will also be giving out bonuses for any media that we think is extremely creative, well-written, and/or well-researched. You will be rewarded for producing high-quality media!

AI TOOLS FOR CONTENT CREATION

As each article is compensated, our current policy is to reject any media that relies on – or could be perceived by the Media team as relying on – these tools. You can read more about our policy related to AI tools for content creation here.

FIRST SUBMISSION BONUS AND DRAFT WEEK BONUS

Every season both the media department and the graphics department hold a "draft double media" week during/after the draft week. Every submission that is related to the drafts (SMJHL/SHL) will receive a 2x payout. Look for an announcement during that time that explains the exact dates. Every user who submits their first graphics on the forum is eligible for a 2x bonus payout, but it has to be mentioned somewhere within the post so the graders can recognize it as a "first submission bonus". These two options (first submission & draft bonus) cannot be combined. You are allowed to use your first submission bonus at a later time (for your second submission) if your first submission happens to be during draft double media week. The 2x bonus will be added to the final payout sum of your weekly submission.

MEDIA/POST-GAME RUBRIC:

All media to be posted in the main forum!

  • All media should relate to the SHL in some way, shape or form, whether it be player, stats, user, site, etc... Non SHL relevant media will not be graded.
  • SHL & SMJHL Media Scales has changed to reflect 100 words = 140k at a flat rate.
  • All written content to be graded has to be in the first post.
  • Minimum word count to be eligible for payout is 100 words. This is valid for every contributor in a media piece
  • Payouts will now have a maximum payout split of 4 users. Exceptions to this will be made on a case-by-case basis. Reach out to the media team before posting such articles.
  • Articles that go above and beyond word count are subject to bonuses (from x1.1 up to x2.0) at grader's discretion (ie. extensive stats, research, or graphics).
  • Pressers will now be worth 50% of the new scale (100 words = 70k).  (this has already taken place in the SMJHL Media section, it will now be in effect for the SHL Media Section as well).
  • All press conference answers must be in the first post
  • Spreadsheets & Data Dumps will also be graded under the Presser scale.

Podcasts:

Podcasts must be SHL related in some way, shape or form. I’d like to remind you all that we do in fact, listen to all podcasts.

  • Maximum payout limit: 1 hour (exception is made for special events/podcasts, e.g.: draft stream, at the discretion of the SHL Media teams)
  • 1 Podcast per week. 1 Hour per week.
  • Podcasts must be playable online. Any podcast that fails to do this will NOT be graded. http://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=96543
  • There will be a hard cap of 4 persons per podcast.

The new pay scale will be as such:
1 person - 4.2m/hr
2 person - 5.6m/hr (split into 2 = 2.8m each)
3 person - 7m/hr (split into 3 = 2.35m each)
4 person - 8.4m/hr (split into 4 = 2.1m each)

Which translates to:
1 person - 1,050,000/15min->4.2mil/hour
2 person - 1,400,000/15min->5.6mil/hour / split between 2 persons
3 person - 1,750,000/15min->7.0mil/hour / split between 3 persons
4 person - 2.100.000/15min->8.4mil/hour / split between 4 persons

PODCAST CONTENT IS AT THE DISCRETION OF SHL MEDIA GRADING TEAM. IF WE THINK YOU GO OFF-TOPIC TOO MUCH, YOUR PAY WILL REFLECT THAT.
