Kondos Speaks Before Draft
When people see or hear the name Kondos, everyone thinks of Theo Kondos, who is currently set to play his last season in the SHL with the Toronto North Stars. However, there is another Kondos' that people should start to notice and that is Stavros. Stavros coming from Athens Greece is an unknown player, other then his connection of being the nephew to Theo. It is hard to find any stats on Stavros, even harder to find any video evidence of what the player has to offer. Many people are hoping he will come and break into the league in a similar manner to Theo, but is that truly believable with the great career Theo had? Well we had the fortunate opportunity to speak to Stavros before the draft and hear his side, in his first public interview!
" My name is Stavros Kondos, and I am not Theo. Theo is a great player, and being my uncle I could always ask him for advice. However with him playing in North America, and me in Athens we don't talk very often. I have been practicing and playing as much as I can - but it is hard with the limited options of ice time over hear. That is why I have declared for the SMJHL draft. It will give me the chance to play with better players, learn from coaches but most importantly give me access to constant ice time. I may not be the fastest player, or have the best shot right now - but I can tell you my dedication and drive for the game is unmatched and with access to more ice time I will be able to build on my physical and hockey skills like no other. I look to join a team, and help support them the best I can, well developing my own game. I am open to speaking with GMs and scouts, and explaining how I can help better their team."
Well there you have it, will this unknown player just be another player coming from over seas, or will they truly develop into their own star? No one knows, but come Sunday we will see where Kondos lands in the draft. We look forward to following their career into the SMJHL this season!
