Due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who started their eligibility in Season 66 or before (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ).
This is the final season for those with extra eligibility.

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain their original 7 seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing 8 seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to 7.

Hi! I'm pushing the ceremony back to 6:00pm EST!

RE: Season 73 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 05-22-2024

Good evening, and welcome to the Season 73 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!

To start tonight, I would like to remind everyone of the voting rules, and some changes that we've made to help accommodate for some mistakes and errors that were made in the past with regards to eligibility and who was on the ballots.

Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th).
Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to back up their choices.
These points are then totaled and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame

Additionally, due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who STARTED their eligibility between Season 59 and Season 66 (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one (1) extra season of eligibility.

This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time.
The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ) in the eligibility list.

This was the final season for those with extra eligibility.

Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain the original seven (7) seasons of eligibility.

The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing eight (8) seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67.
After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to seven (7).

Before we get to celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season. Because we actually have 2 classes where this was their final season, this list is extra long.
Fifty(!) players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 73 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame.

RE: Season 73 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 05-22-2024

Our first inductee this evening made a name for himself by being a rock-solid starter in the net for many seasons, and his efforts were rewarded with an incredible 4 All-SHL team nominations and 5 award wins. Two playoff MVP wins in two cup victories show that he was a star in the playoffs as well as the regular season, and he'll be entering the Hall of Fame with one of the highest winning percentages, GAA, and SOs in the postseason. Please join me in congratulating . . .

2x 2nd Team All-SHL
2x John McBride Nominee
2x Anton Razov Winner
3x Mike Honcho Winner
2x Challenge Cup Champion (S59, S62)

[Image: 4910.png][Image: 6031.png]

Committee Quotes:
“Has 4 All-SHL team nominations, which is the most out of any eligible goalie, has 5 awards won (3 Honchos and 2 Razov) which is most out of any eligible HoFer. Has the most shutouts out of any eligible goalie with 53, has the best save percentage at .910 and a couple of cups and additional award nominations.”

“4 All-SHL noms is outstanding, and 5 award wins is almost unheard of. Didn't win a McBride, but two nominations is also very good, and he hit the 350 win milestone, which for me is the threshold for long-term impact in net”

“Two playoff MVP wins in two cup victories makes him a major part of the league's history on top of a highly decorated goaltender. Also a three-time Honcho winner to go along with 4 All-SHL awards and a stats profile that make him a worthy addition to the Hall of Fame.”

“2 Razovs, 3 Honchos, and two McBride nominations. Cillian Kavanagh was an era-defining player for the Texas Renegades following a trade from the San Francisco Pride. You can't ask for more from a goaltender.”

“Kavanagh has 4 All-SHL appearances, a whopping FIVE award wins with two additional nominations, and extensive playoff experience where he truly shined. His winning percentage, GAA, and SOs in the postseason would all be among the highest in the Hall.”

RE: Season 73 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 05-22-2024

Our second inductee is one of those often seen protecting the net but without the extra pads of a goalkeeper. In just ten seasons, this player racked up over 2000 Shots Blocked, not only easily making him one of the top defensive defensemen in league history, but likely his goalie's best friend! His other accolades can't be ignored either, winning 3 Bojos and a Stevens for his heroic efforts on the blue line. Please join me in welcoming . . .

1x 2nd Team All-SHL
1x Bojo Biscuit Nominee
2x Scott Stevens Nominee
3x Bojo Biscuit Winner
1x Scott Stevens Winner

Committee Quotes:
“Eero Makela was one of the most dominant defensive defensemen in league history, with blocked shots and Biscuits by the bucket full. Add in a Stevens win and another two nominations and Makela stands out as an elite defensive presence for a decade on the Calgary blueline.”

“Won 3 Bojos and a Stevens, having more awards won (4) than any other eligible skater, has over 2,000 career shots blocked which was all compiled in a short 10 career season being the strongest defensive defenseman on this ballot.”

“One of the best defensive defensemen to play the game, and the only one eligible to win both the Bojo and the Stevens. I don't think people appreciate how much of an accomplishment that is to do, and he won the Bojo three times with an additional nom, and the Stevens once with two more nominations. While his career was short, it was a display of excellence pretty much every season.”

“Eero is easily the most decorated eligible skater on the ballot, with 3 nominations on top of his 4 wins (three Bojos, one Stevens) in ten short seasons. Though he never managed a cup, Makela racked up well over 2000 blocks, excelled on the PK, and had an impressive TA/GA ratio that's well over the HoF average.”

RE: Season 73 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 05-22-2024

Our third inductee tonight is another defensive defenseman who spent more time protecting his goalie than trying to score. He spent all but the final season of his relatively short career (only 11 seasons) playing for a struggling San Francisco Pride, but that didn't stop him from making his presence known through 3 consecutive nominations for the Stevens and 2 wins of the Biscuit. Please join me in welcoming our next inductee . . .

Career Regular Season Stats:

Awards:
2x 2nd Team All-SHL
3x Scott Stevens Nominee
2x Bojo Biscuit Nominee
2x Bojo Biscuit Winner

[Image: 4832.png][Image: 6130.png]

Committee Quotes:
“A defensive defenseman specialist who should get some more recognition. Was a Bojo specialist, winning the award twice and being nominated another two times, and 3 times for the Stevens (with 5 total award nominations tied for most amongst eligible HoFers). In a short 11-season career also put up over 1,400 hits and over 1,500 shots blocked which are similar numbers to other longer-tenured hall of fame defensemen.”

“Bjerg is a defensive defenseman with 7 whopping defense-oriented award nominations, two of which turned into Bojo Biscuit wins over a relatively short career. He has an absolutely absurd TA/GA ratio sitting at 2.36, and still managed to put up a pretty spectacular amount of points especially considering his role, as well as amassing defensive numbers resembling much longer tenured D men.”

“Bjerg, like Makela, was also a dominant defensive defenseman, picking up two Bojo Biscuits and multiple additional nominations for the Biscuit and Stevens. Had the type of career that shows a primarily defense-first guy can achieve the hardware deserving of a spot in the Hall of Fame.”

“Rikard Bjerg had a rather short career in the SHL, but they left an imprint with 3 consecutive Stevens nominations and a further 2 Biscuit wins and another 2 Biscuit nominations. The four season stretch from S63 to S66 proves to be one of the most productive peaks of any physical, stay-at-home defensemen in league history.”

RE: Season 73 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 05-22-2024

Our final inductee is another player who managed to shine while playing for a team struggling through a rebuild. A defensive-oriented center who spent more time worried about protecting his defense than scoring, this player's efforts were rewarded with 3 Dar nominations and a win. While his success on the ice was never quite reflected by team success, the Hall of Fame would like to welcome our final inductee . . .

Awards:

3x Jeff Dar Nominee
1x Aidan Richan Winner
1x Jeff Dar Winner

[Image: 4768.png][Image: 6027.png]

Committee Quotes:
“Only one all-SHL nom hurts, but we know those swing wildly toward scoring forwards. Winning a Dar with 3 additional Dar nominations is a huge mark of success, along with his 1200+ blocks as a forward.”

“3 nominations and 1 Jeff Dar win, and so unsurprisingly a checking and shot-blocking machine. Even as he tallied 700+ points, the defensive zone was where HLO truly shined. He was a huge piece of SFP's PK in both ends of the ice, and finished with a TA/GA ratio that would be third best among all forwards in the HoF.”
