The 20's is not even close to peak Jazz - Sopath - 07-16-2024 I think something that recently has started to irk me is that as I've learned more about the genre it becomes so evident that the cultural treatment of the genre is that it is this movement that happened at the turn of the 20th century and that's when it peaked. Coltrane, Davis, Holdsworth, Green, Pass, Evans etc. were all guys who tore it up in the 60s and 70s(not Coltrane). Like if I want to listen to Miles Davis I'm not turning on any of his studio albums. I'm turning on that live fusion shit he was doing in the 70s which is some of the weirdest coolest shit around. |
