The S77 SMJHL Playoffs are over and now it is time for Postseason Bonanza!
Wait! What's this?
Here's how PB will work: there are several tasks, each of which is worth varying amounts of TPE for putting in a little effort, for a maximum of 16 possible TPE total. You can mix and match, complete them in any order and do as few or as many as you would like (up to 16 TPE). Recreates, you will find this slightly different than CW.
Here's how TPE will be earned:
For every 50 words you write about a prompt, you will earn 1 TPE. That scales on, so 100 words for 2 TPE, 150 words for 3 TPE, etc. If you wanted to 800 words about one prompt, that would be 16 TPE right then and there.
The graphics TPE scale has remained the same.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please, after every prompt you write about add a Word Count (ie. 150 words). This will greatly help the PT Team!

2. Looking Towards the Future - 113 words + 2 TPE
I think the future is looking rather bright for the Knights. We managed to be competitive in a very close conference while playing nearly all rookies on defense and of course Goalie.
I was told we don't have a lot of assets for the next season, so we have to build on what we have right now and keep the motivation up.
Personally I think our window already opens next year, but S79/S80 will be the prime years if everyone keeps earning.
With that in mind we don't really have blatant holes that could be filled with draftees. It should be monitored if everyone keeps earning and adjust our needs to this.
12. On the radar - 174 words +3 TPE
Whoever drafts me can expect a guy who wants to see his player succeed and who does everything in his power to bring the player in a position to shine.
I am competitive and very dedicated, since I very much enjoy the roleplaying aspect in sim leagues and only create players with backstories that I am personally invested in, making the player a virtual extension/expression of myself.
Additionally, while I am very down for memeing and jokes, I consider myself to be the adult in the room, who strives to always be at his best behaviour.
You won't see bitching, brigading or whining from me. I am a good sport about practically everything that is not blatantly unfair (e.g. borderline-cheating meta-builds or sth. like that.)
In every team I have been in so far, I have been promoted to an administrative role very fast, which means I help out with tactics, scouting, LR user engagement or all of that at once.
If you draft me, you can expect nothing less for your team.
15. Charity Drive - 219 words +4 TPE
Gino would definetely be down for a lot of good charity causes, but the one I have a personal connection with, would be leukemia research.
I got my blood sampled over 10 years ago and have been a stem cell donator for a leukemia patient shortly after the sampling.
The process was very emotional. Let's just say that the ordeal pre-donation was painful with for example having to inject myself a liquid 3 times a day for 5 days which also caused covid-like influenza-symptoms.
I endured all of that, because afterwards, when the stem cells got extracted, they gave someone else a second chance at life and this seemed absolutely worth it.
I didn't know who I was donating to at that time, but one year later I was informed that the cell donation was for a middle-aged woman across the globe. Unfortunately I was also told that this woman died, because the ceels were rejected by her body.
I was devastated for a person I have never met. But the supporting team of the donation agency told me that I still gave her a fighting chance, that she wouldn't have had without me.
Even though this woman wasn't saved, I would go through all of this again without hestitation. And as an extension of myself, so would Gino.
16. Goals - 306 words + 5 TPE
I would be lying If I said that I don't want to get a good draft position and possibly can learn under a experienced Goalie at a contender team.
That said, I know that Goalies usually don't go early and I don't know why I would be an exception to this unwritten rule. I didn't research who needs a Goalie right now and prefer to be surprised. Looking very much forward to vibe with the Scouts that contact me.
No matter the place where I end up, a HoF career is the ideal that I strive to reach. I don't consider myself a min-maxer, but very, very dedicated to my player and relentless in the pursuit of TPE.
Everyone who "worked" with me knows by now that I like the roleplay aspect of the leagues and dedicate a lot of my time and attention to the player's backstory, progression and so on.
I find that the more invested you are in your player on a personal level, the more likely you are to log in, do your tasks and engage with others even when the results aren't there.
As a hobby writer this allows me to relax, be creative and social, express myself and be competitive at the same time.
Down the road I can definetely see myself GM'ing, preferably in the J's first. Since I already did jobs for the HO and got to know a lot of the important people + had the chance to learn about what is important in this league, I feel prepared for that for the future, probably when the player after Gino is made (so, not in the near-near future).
Having experience from other sim leagues (SSL), especially with the overlapping members that I know also brings me into the position to have a wide network of contacts accros the leagues.

I overall enjoyed the whole Updating and PT experience a lot this season!
You need to know that my first player originated from a season where the Portal didn't exist at all, so having that, combined with a polished index made for a smoother, better quality of life experience overall.
For this Bonanza or Championship Week, whatever applies, though, I preferred the fixed TPE amount for completing the tasks rather than getting paid per word so to speak.
I know it basically adds up to be the same, it just somehow feels a little different for some reason.
Still, I always enjoy these!

Word Count 253 5 TPESo, S77 is in the books and it is on to the S78 SHL draft. In this edition of On the Radar we take a look at Gordon McFisherman and see what teams can expect and where he stands going into the draft. Gordon is a Left Wing and eventhough he was a late create onto the scene, he has been an active create. His strength right now is his offensive game. He can zip in and out of tight spots and look for that needed GWG for the team. Even though he played in less than one third of the season he was third on his team in Game wininng goals, a pretty good stat to have. His defense is a little behind at the moment, but there is not much reason for you to worry. In the off season he has indicated he will be working on his reading of the defensive play to bring up those minor deficiencies he has right now. And hopefully by the time you are ready and in need to call him up he will be the well-rounded player that you need.
And the player behind the player, what do you get with kdr? Well, you get a player who is active, who strives to be the best and someone who knows how to take that input for the people who have been playing this game for a while and can help Gordon McFisherman become the best darn LW there has ever been in the SHL.

Word Count 304: 6 TPEWell, it is finally the off season. It was a short start to my MJSHL career as I came in on waivers, but it was an enjoyable one. I even went to the playoffs and played pretty well I the first round win. But now it is time to unwind and how does a McFisherman unwind in the off season? Why I fish of course. I am going to go home to Bath and meet the family for finish 3 or 4 times a week. There is nothing like waking up early and being on the waters for the sunrise. It is an amazing feeling as you watch the sun light the horizon with all the colors of fire to start the day. Then you turn towards the water and the fish there to do some battle. The calm before the battle where you have time for good chat with good family and friends. Raising a cold Beer, Root Beer of course because the McFisherman are alcohol free on ship. And when that line dips you know the battle has commensed. It is just like the competition on the ice, except it is one on one, you against the fish. Will you reel it in or will it get the best of you and snap the line and get away with the juicy bait. Yes there is nothing like it for relaxing and refreshing.
And then before training camp begins again I am going to meet up with my teammates on the Team of the Isles and Great Britain to see if you can cause some surprises at the International tournaments. IT will be my first time being called up to any international team and I hope that I can help make an impact. That is how I will be spending my off season.

The best kind of memorabilia is the stuff you can be proud of, a good talking piece sitting in the corner of the living room, possibly something that you may sell for a pretty penny one day as a collectors item. That’s why I believe a cardboard cutout of No This is Patrik recreating the famous scene he gets his name from signed by him as well would be something that fits that criteria.
#2 Looking Towards the Future
No This is Patrik doesn’t concern himself with the team’s management tasks. Whatever team he’s on is surely a wagon however. No This is Patrik is here to play puck, straight up, win or lose it does not matter to him. It’s not even the love of the game that’s gotten him here. The most fitting way to describe his motivation is, hockey is life and he’s damn good at it. That’s all

No This is Patrik is no dirty player, however should he care to even address his teammates or their playstyle he’d likely stuff their sticks full of sand, put brass knuckles in their gloves, and hide razor blades along the boards. Should No This is Patrik care to win he will leave his opposition hospitalized or 6 feet under.
#4 Funtimes
First off, No This is Patrik is an excellent motivator, when he wants to be. On this day he finds himself rather caring, so he convinces his team to help steal a private jet. Now this isn't the fun, it's just the beginning. That jet would be flown to St. Paul, Minnesota next where the team would then offload, rob the hertz car rental booth for all its luxury cars, and then and only then the team would go to the Mall of America to enjoy a day at Nickelodeon Universe. No This is Patrik is also an S tier schmoozer and tells the police that he was forced to by @ThePyroAlpaca who now awaits trial.

No This is Patrik doesn't know his teammates well, doesn't care to as it doesn't interest him, he's locked in on the grind. However when stuck in a dark room and asked what he thought about a few of his teammates, which he hardly recognized, he gave his flat out opinion.

#6 Team History
The Kelowna Knights, for all No This is Patrik cares, thinks the team should be called the Kelowna Patriks. He also doesn't care much for history and only considers the team to have existed the day he signed there. It's most significant moment was when they signed No This is Patrik. Inversely when No This is Patrik was told that the league existed long before his career he accused the interviewer of lying and proceeded to attack them with a chair.
#7 Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
No This is Patrik truly does not know who won the 4 star trophy, he in fact just learned the name. The only thing No This is Patrik does know is that it was not him because he was not lifting any kind of hardware when the team told him to go home, there would be no more hockey.
#8 An Alternate Timeline
To No This is Patrik, the rest of the league does not concern him, money is always green. To a man that goes where the money flows it is safe to say that whoever and wherever No This is Patrik plays, they will be successful. No This is Patrik will carry a very large impact on the team, only positive of course, and increase the odds of literally anything happening.
#9 What's In a Name
No This is Patrik doesn't know another player's name, hardly even his teammates, on a good day that is. To his knowledge and highly regarded opinion, he is the best, there's no one like him, and no one that can compete with him. However No This is Patrik invites anyone willing to challenge this notion, with a fight to the death.
#10 In the Zone
Obviously No This is Patrik was possibly one of the most crucial pieces put onto his team to contribute to their playoff run, "whatever that is" - No This is Patrik notes. The best approach to being considered a "playoff mvp" or a crucial part to a team is to approach each game the same as the last, which No This is Patrik executes flawlessly.

It may be becoming fairly obvious on the direction of this interview of how this question may be answered, the best team that could possibly take the ice, representing the Kelowna Patriks, is an entire team of No This is Patrick's. When told that an entire team of himself isn't possible because he only plays as a defenseman, No This is Patrik asked "what's a position?"
#12 On the Radar
The best features of No This is Patrik is that he doesn't care where he plays, as long as he's paid, he'll sign whatever and do whatever is needed of him to play puck and survive. The positive features don't stop there however, No This is Patrik is a true do it all guy, passing is almost an urban myth to him and the only time he might get an assist is when a defender knocks the puck off his stick to his teammate close by to be put in the back of the net, surprisingly happening more often than you might imagine, No This is Patrik is a very lucky player.
#13 Superstitious
No This is Patrik isn't aware, nor doesn't care for many things, including playoff superstitions. The only way to get him to go along with something would be to bribe him. Don't touch a trophy? That might be a pretty penny and if you don't pay him to go along with your desires, then good luck stopping him. No This is Patrik does what he wants when he wants unless he is paid off.

No This is Patrik is still somewhat confused at the idea of an offseason, his head office has also hardly explained it. No This is Patrik is a man of habit, waking up each morning and going to the rink only to get to the door and be turned away by a newly upgraded bank vault door with a reinforced frame because previously when the team tried to lock him out the first door was simply glass so he broke through it, the second door was thin metal so No This is Patrik ripped it off its hinges, the tests of will this newly upgraded door withstand the wrath of No This is Patrik are yet to be known.

2. Looking Towards The Future - 210 Words - 4 TPE
Looking at next season for the Newfoundland Berserkers, there are many holes to be filled as numerous key players depart to the SHL. The most glaring spot is at goalie, as their longtime starter Launchpad McQuack is now gone and backup goalie, Sami Samsonov is only at 155 TPE. Defence is also taking a hit with the departures of their top pairing Eric Vanderberg Jr. and Slowpoke. However, former centre Weston Windsor is converting to a defender and along with Leo Finnegan could make a young formidable duo at the back for the next three years potentially. Forward wise, the only notable loss is Alexel Kamensky, but they will retain their star top scorer, Jason Warwaha for his last season in the SMJHL. Along with him they will rely on TheGreatOne, and the development of now sophomores, Jett Labyrinth and Hannah Crowder. Overall, it will most likely be another year in the middle-to-bottom of the league standings for the Berserkers but they will have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks in the upcoming draft. It is imperative that Newfoundland do well in this draft as if they combine these picks with the current core of rookies, they will no doubt be contenders in the next few years.
6. Team History - 169 Words - 3 TPE
The Newfoundland Berserkers have a rich history and are arguably the most accomplished team in recent SMJHL times. Since moving from Lethbridge in S52, Newfoundland has six Four Star Cups, more than any team in that period. In those 26 years they also managed to make it to 17 conference finals, including 11 appearances in 12 years. On top of this they’ve also made 12 finals appearances in total, including 6 in a row, the first team to ever do so. Their rivalry with the Maine Timber has also been significant in their history with the two teams meeting in the playoffs 5 out of 6 years between S70 and S75. The Berserkers’ identity has simply been unparalleled dominance for many years, however recent years have seen some struggles, with 7 seasons without a cup being the largest gap without one in their history. It remains to be seen if Newfoundland will ever be that dominant again or if the rest of the league finally caught up with them.
12. On The Radar - 308 Words - 6 TPE
On today’s On The Radar, we have a profile of one of the top prospects in the upcoming SHL Draft, Jett Labyrinth. Jett is a 6 '3'' two-way centre from the United Kingdom and was Newfoundland’s first round pick in last year's SMJHL Draft. Jett impressed scouts with his maturity on the ice in his rookie season on the Berserkers with his 21:29 in average ice time leading all rookie forwards. His 48 points was enough for 7th amongst all rookies, a strong indicator that his offensive prowess is already better than most scouts originally thought. A plus/minus rating of -13 definitely stands out as a sore spot for the supposedly strong defensively Jett, but he did play a big part in one of the best penalty kill units in the league. Looking at his game it’s easy to see why Labyrinth is predicted to go in the top 10 in most mock drafts. He’s big, mobile, can score, can pass, hit, win faceoffs and kill penalties. His work ethic is also something to note as he is near the top of his class in development. There are however certainly questions with his offensive ceiling with multiple teams reportedly looking to possibly move him to the blueline in the future. This makes some sense given his frame and two-way abilities but it would be a big adjustment if he does follow this path. There are also some concerns with his background as most players from his agency have fizzled out in a few seasons after the draft, but Jett affirms that he remains committed to becoming one of the best players in the SHL. Overall, while these red flags will probably keep Jett from being amongst the very top picks in the draft, there is no doubt he is deserving of being a first round pick.

My goals for my player in the SHL are the following: Play 1000 games, be at least a point-per-game player in my prime, win a Challenge Cup, and be amongst the top earners in the league. My goal for the rest of my SMJHL career is to win a Four Star Cup.

12. On the Radar - 316 Words (+6 -- 6/16 TP)
Weston Windsor is an unusual circumstance: after playing an entire season at center, although he swapped to the wing back and forth at certain times, he has opted to swap to play defense for his sophomore year at the SMJHL level. That means that, while some has been written about Windsor in the past, all of the scouting that's already been completely on him is worth approximately nothing. This is perhaps the most significant thing that teams have to be concerned about with Windsor. You simply don't know what you're getting from him.
Some of the skills that distinguished Windsor as a forward do still count for his new position: his blistering speed will remain a factor, especially given his offensive emphasis. His passing instincts should continue to serve him well. His offensive focus, while it may seem like something of a liability given his position on the blueline, will allow him to finally break into the powerplay. That, combined with the other skills noted, should make him a future powerplay quarterback of mid to high caliber.
So, for SHL suitors, it's an all-too familiar tale. There's a lot to be excited about in terms of his ability to produce points, but there's a whole lot of work to be done to ensure he can put up those points without disadvantaging his team. While his skating is, as noted, a particular strength, he was also noted as being one of the physically weaker centers in the league this past off-season. He not only lacks a physical game, but he can be pushed around, and doesn't always make the best decisions when he's moving into the offensive zone.
Potential managers will be happy to learn, however, that he has placed a greater emphasis on his physical conditioning going into next season. If only he could devote that same effort to his defensive awareness.
16. Goals - 519 Words (+10 -- 16/16 TPE)
It's difficult to really identify long-term goals when a player is so young, especially when that player has changed positions after a single season. For Weston Windsor, the goal has to be a simple one: to be as effective a player as he possibly can be. That seems a little cheesy, but it's the truth. The Hall of Fame is a difficult place to get into it, and it requires a mix of skill, luck and good team-mates, and a measure of popularity. For Weston Windsor, that right mix may never arrive no matter how effective he winds up being.
But, 'being the most effective player he can be' does carry some specific meaning when it comes to a personal goal. For Windsor, it won't be about racking up the points or breaking records. Rather, it'll be about playing to the best of his ability to help win hockey games. It's better to retire as a great player who's won championships than it is to retire as a legendary player who came up short every post-season.
That means finding the little ways to impact the game that might not always show up on the box-score, and it means constant development. But that's the goal: Challenge Cups.
Another goal that Weston has is to undo the failure of previous iterations of his name. While Winston Windsor was a multiple time Challenge Cup winner, Will Windsor was at best a mildly notable junior player, and Warwick Windsor wasn't even that. Weston Windsor's need to win is in part built off of a need to redeem a name and a brand that has gone from being desirable to almost entirely unnoteworthy: worthless, whatever Weston's early promise.
That may also mean proving that he can be a single-team player, rather than falling out of his progression along the way and needing to be moved by a team which has more ambitious plans than an expensive mid-tier player can really contribute to. When it comes to those twin goals of winning championships and 'redeeming' his family name, the opinions of general managers and coaches matter more than the opinions of the media: they know who provides the most to a team, even if they do come up short in the scoring race.
All that said, it's not as if there are no individual metrics Weston would like to achieve. In particular, he would like to at least earn a nomination or two as one of the top defensemen in either the SHL or the SMHL. In addition, Winston Windsor lost a finals MVP while being the leading scorer for the winning team as a defenceman -- not only did he lose it, but he didn't even receive votes behind his goaltender (the winner) and the two top offensive forwards from the opposing team. With that indignity in mind, some part of him may also want a chance to be the MVP of the playoffs at some point throughout his career.
Though, as with Winston Windsor before him, he'll hardly complain about missing out on that singles award if it means he wins a Challenge Cup.

To be honest, this was a lot more fun than the other Championship Weeks I've done. I much prefer having the freedom to go longer about topics that I'd rather write about, for more freedom in picking and choosing. My biggest complaint about PTs over the years has been that I would almost always right about hockey-related topics as opposed to some of the more peripheral kind of flavour topics that come up (ie. questions about merchandise, music, etc), so this kind of PT affords me the freedom to do just that without removing the more joke/'character interview' style point-tasks for those who do enjoy them.

3. Secret Plans
It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes.
The brainstorming in Anchorage is very open our goal is to get stronger with the development of the players. We also need still more prospects to give our line up more quality. We already entered the pre Team Training Camp and wait until next weekend the start of the SMJHL Draft to see which players will enter the Team Training Camp. If they are here we will start the full program of Team Training Camp and then we need to have 100% focus on our play with and without the puck. Then we will see how good we can be this season. Also later with some pre season games, those will also help us in our development and knowing how far we are. The main goal is to have a better Regular Season than last one. We know that we still have more SMJHL Teams in their prime so we also need time after this prime is over and our can rise and give us a top spot. We will see if this will happen in the upcoming season or in two, three seasons. (184 words)
11. A 6 Star Show
Make a dream team of players from any team in the playoffs, with 3 forwards, 2 defenseman and a goalie, and give an explanation for each pick. It could be the best team ever, or alternative maybe the worst?
So we receive the question of think about our dream team of the playoff performances. At first I would go with a Sniper and in that case I would take NoNo Jo. With his 18 Goals but also 10 Assists he was one of the key factors that the Vancouver Whalers won the Cup. Next to him as Sniper we also need of course a Playmaker. Here it wasnt so easy. Olafur Atlason and Robo Sven both had 20 Assists but I will go here with Robo Sven because he had 5 Goals and Olafur Atlason had 4 Goals. So we also need a third forward and with one Sniper and one Playmaker I would like to have here a two way monster. So I will take Nicals Wastlund. 13 Goals, 14 Assists and 61 Hits makes him a perfect fit for this line and we have with him three Vancouver Whalers players in the offense. The first Defender of my choice will be Jacob Maccabees from the Ottawa Highlanders. With his 4 Goals and 14 Assists he was very impressive offensively but also defensively he was very impressive with 38 Blocks, 24 Hits and 20 Takeaways. Next to him I am looking for a classic defensive Defender. I decided to go with Clarence Worley also from the Ottawa Highlanders. He had 10 Points, 11 Takeaways, 27 Hits and 57 Blocks. This duo would be nuts. In the net I also will choose a player from the Ottawa Highlanders. Bishop Van Apeldoorn had a monster performance in the playoffs. Only he had 2 shutout but he also had 703 saves the 2nd best was Woggins with 491 saves. He is from the Whalers so the both Cup Finalists Teams. Van Apeldoorn his Goals Saved Above Average was amazing. 10.93 is the number to be called here. Wiggins only had 2.32 and that makes me say it was a monster performance. Van Apeldoorn also had the fourth best save percentage with 91.4%. He won 14 of his 21 Games in the playoffs and with that game number he also had the most from all in comparison. All in all we have three Ottawa Highlanders and three Vancouver Whalers players in my dream team of the S77 Playoffs. (379 words)

It's almost officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make it past the first round of the playoffs, it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. Tell us how you're spending your time this offseason, whether it be with family or friends.
I will go home to Germany to my grandparents. It is always nice to be at home by my grandparents in Leipzig and also seeing some friends I don’t see very often. After this first month I always go on vacation and want to see the world so I travel around the world. So I can see so much I can from the world. Two weeks in Egypt and two weeks in Mexico were the destinations this year. Then I was moving back to North America to my parents and also to my brother Chris McZehrl Jr.. We were talking about the first SMJHL Season and also about my time in Germany and on my two travels to Mexico and Egypt. Later I had a phone call from my SMJHL GM about the new season and that I can prepare myself for the Draft and new season in their training hall. (151 words)

Professional hockey players are among the luckiest members of a community, but not everyone is given the same opportunities. As such, many players are expected to give back to the community by volunteering their time and energy off the ice with various charitable organizations. Write about a charity or event that your player helped out with
I am very proud to have a nice life as a hockey player and also being in a hockey family, but I am also here to help others. My Father started a charity program and my uncle, brother and myself also work in this charity program. We help kids with many different Illnesses. In our opinion it's important to help any kid with any illnesses in the world. So we bring them gifts or some are also fans and so overjoyed to see us, talk with us and take a photo and finally get signs from us. We love to give them something special. But we also help the humans around our roots in germany. We built a training camp for young kids there to develop better. The structure in Germany is still way behind the North American one for hockey so we hope with this help we will see more good hockey players from that area. We also plan to open a second training camp. The first is in Leipzig and the second is planned for Magdeburg. In the summer if we are there we train the kids and try to give them our vision and know how about hockey to get better for their future. We also talk so much with the women in Germany about hockey and train them that they can be better. Our goal is to help all in that area have our roots. We hope we can bring in more ideas and more help for kids and all other humans. (256 words)

Chris McZehrl III is my 5th player in the SHL and I must say I like the topics in this season CW. But I also must honestly say that I believe I made my last full CW 5 real time years ago. So at this time it was totally different. But please keep up your work and this vision. I really really love this new style of PTs. I also will do more in the future for sure. (78 words)

1. Fan appreciation day is always a little macabre in Anchorage, due to the team’s pre-hockey history (more on this in section 6). Long running tradition now has the Armada handing out the taxidermied remains of sea life that have been struck by marine vessels. Of course, they try their best to save the animals, but those who cannot be saved are cleaned up and stuff and mounted on a plaque with Armada branding. A few lucky fans will come home with a whale, a seal or maybe a beaver. Most will settle for a bird. Coincidentally, that's traditionally the game with the worst attendance.

2. Can I answer all of the above? For needs, that is. This team is green. Mega green. That's no one's fault (I think) but it means that we need young players to both step up and arrive all across the roster. Our best plus/ minus was a -6, and that player only played in 22 games.

3. For people who aren't used to it and people who aren't tourist's, Alaska is a bit of a rude awakening. This is the biggest home ice advantage the Armada have to rely on. They need to lean into it. Sabotage the plows to make the ride into town even longer. We want players falling asleep on the bus and not seeing the sun when they get out. Let the heating in the visitors locker room go into disrepair, so that visiting players are literally afraid to get wet in the shower. Give them one small space heater they can fight over to destroy team cohesion.

4. As fun director, I will pass a new team bi-law making fun mandatory. At daily mandated fun times, a red light and klaxon will turn on and a voice will play over a loudspeaker declaring “fun will now commence.” When this happens, players will be given three minutes to arrive at the pre- fun staging area and silently line up in two straight columns then stand at attention. Once the three minutes have passed, they will be led by me, the fun director, to the latest fun activity. The activities could be anything - five mile jogs, carrying logs, feeding hogs.
Any players failing to arrive and line up on time or failing to attend mandatory fun time activities will be required to do remedial makeup fun. Remedial fun will be more intensive fun than normal mandatory fun, in order to help players catch up on missed fun and to reinforce the importance of punctuality and discipline during fun. Remedial fun will be in addition to regular mandatory fun.

6. It's not well-known, but the Armada were not originally a hockey team or even a sports franchise at all. In the 19th century, they were a penal florilla, first under the Russian Tsardom, then, following the sale of Alaska to the United States, as part of the US Navy. Delinquent, disobedient and criminal sailors and junior officers were sent to what was considered a non- critical and undesirable post to guard against frontier incursions from neighboring powers. Senior officers who were in political hot water or who were considered to be disgraced would be sent to staff the higher positions. Using out of date equipment on antiquated vessels, some of these seamen would spend over a decade in the Armada, before finally getting transferred back to normal duty.

To celebrate their run to the SMJHL finals, the Ottawa Highlanders will be giving out commemorative foam claymore swords to all fans in attendance at their home opener for season 78. These swords will be a full 4 feet long, and adorned with the Ottawa Highlanders logo on the pommel and the hilt wrapped in cloth of the official Highlanders tartan. There will be an appearance by Christopher Lambert of the 1986 Highlander movie, a custom jersey auction, and a raffle for a chance to duel your favorite Highlander player! On second thought, this might not be the best idea. It could be worse I guess. The backup idea was bagpipes.
2. Looking Towards the Future (155 words +3 TPE)
The Ottawa Highlanders that made an unlikely run to the SMJHL finals is a young team that returns mostly intact for season 78, with a couple of key losses. Second line center Benji Hockiwi and third line Florian Hascek the forward ranks have graduated to the SHL but the forward ranks are still stacked in Ottawa, with enough second year players ready to step up to fill the holes.
Defense is a different story, with losses of Demir Bellona and Jacob Maccabees leaving only one player under contract on defense. Ottawa will want to find a few stalwart defenders in the draft or as free agents to fill those holes if they hope to make another deep playoff run.
The goaltending corps is anchored by game-stealing Bishop Van Apeldoorn who was a key part of the playoff run. Van Apeldoorn will need a backup to share the workload but the net is otherwise well tended.
10. In the Zone (315 words +6 TPE)
You don't get to the finals of the playoffs without a number of players stepping p when it matters most, but when it comes to the two teams that met in the SMJHL finals, we can pick one that stood out for each team. For the runner-up Ottawa Highlanders, the standout player is Bishop Van Apeldoorn. While posting a moderate .900 SV% and 3.40 GAA in the regular Van Apeldoorn took his game up a notch in the playoffs and flat out stole enough games to keep the Highlanders rolling. With a young defense in front of him, Van Apeldoorn faced an average of 36 shots per game, and 200 more shots than any other goalie in the playoffs. He posted the highest goals saved above average and the most shutouts in the playoffs and his SV% led playoff goalies until Ottawa ran into red hot Vancouver.
For Vancouver it is more difficult to pick one standout player. In the regular season only one player scored higher than a point per game but five players did so in the playoffs. The whole team stepped up their game in a dominant performance that won them the Four Star Cup. To pick just one, I'm going to choose Right Winger MattyJ. After scoring 50 points in the regular season, MattyJ scored 24 in 19 games. While he was just behind the team leaders, MattyJ was a force at even strength, scoring all but one of his points there and leading the team in shots and most possession stats. While the championship was definitely a team effort, MattyJ provided a spark that helped propel the Whalers to victory.
With Van Apeldoorn on the losing side and MattyJ a few points behind the team leaders, there's a good chance that neither of these players end up as playoff MVP, but in my opinion, both should at least be nominated.
12. On the Radar (257 words +5 TPE)
One intriguing prospect in this year's draft class is Ottawa Highlanders left winger Spaceman Spiff. Drafted 11th overall in the SMJHL draft, Spiff has shown flashes of skill but only put up 39 points in his rookies season while playing on Ottawa's 3rd line. A small but quick skating forward, with a laser fast wrist shot Spiff rounded out his game in the playoffs with solid defensive play to make up for the lower point totals. Despite the slow start to his career, Spiff's ceiling is high and his strong work ethic has already proven itself on and off the ice. With a little work to do on the defensive side of his game, and fine tuning of his offensive skills, Spiff projects to be a top six winger in the SHL with the skills and potential to play effectively on the first line.
Off the ice, Spiff is a classic character guy in the locker room. He is eager to learn from the coaches and veterans, with a specific interest in the tactical areas of the game. He's a hard worker in practice, the first on the ice and the last off of it, and leads by example with his team-first attitude, hard work, maturity, and even his sense of humor. Activity level is high and he has the drive to do all he can to make his mark on this league. Spaceman Spiff has been projected to be an early pick in the draft, and will be a great asset to whatever team takes him.

The rink is quiet now. The stands, which used to be full of rowding fans, are silent. The ice is now melting. It's over. It's officially the offseason. This is the part they don't tell you about..the emptiness that follows the rush.
I can remember the final whistle like it was yesterday. We lost, of course. We always lose. Nothing against the Falcons, but no one expected to win the championship this year. Losing to the Kraken however was definitively a slap to the face. Skating off the ice for the last time this season, I noticed that I was feeling a strange mix of relief and dread. The relief was for my body, finally getting a chance to heal. The dread was for my mind, which now has to confront the silence.
The first few days were fine. I welcomed the lack of routine. I slept in, something I hadn't done in months. I spent time with the few friends I have which I neglected during the season, making small talk, pretending like I was there. But in the back of my mind, the itch started. The need for the grind, for the structure, for the chaos of hockey. I tried to keep busy. I picked up old hobbies and tried new ones. At one point, I even started coding again, which I hadn't done since many months ago. Last time I coded, I was able to hack ECorp for the 100th time. But nothing could make me whole again. Sitting at my computer became that one refuge; it was the only place in which I kind of got that intensity back. But even there, the emptiness followed.
One night, as I layed in bed staring at the ceiling, it hit me. The offseason was not only a break from hockey… it was a break from me. I knew who I was on the ice. I was a player, a competitor, a warrior. Off the ice? Well, I was just… Elliot. A guy with too much time on his hands and not enough purpose. So, I began journaling every day…something I'd done as a kid but abandoned over time. Writing these thoughts down feels weird at first. However, it helps. I wrote about the season, its highs and lows, moments of triumph and despair. I wrote about my teammates, Darlene, my dad. I wrote about the future, about the uncertainty and the fear.
As the days turned into weeks, I found a strange sort of peace. The offseason was not simply a void but an opportunity, an opportunity for reflection and growth, an opportunity to prepare for the next battle. I started seeing beauty in the stillness and potential in the quiet. I spent more time with Darlene and Angela—time that had been taken for granted. That's how I came to find new passions, things that had me interested in ways hockey never could. I even learned to re-embrace the solitude and those moments of introspection that the offseason brought.
The itch never fully went away, of course. The need for the game, for the competition, for the chaos, is always there. But I learned to manage it, to channel it into other areas of my life. The offseason was a time of transformation, where I became a better person and more balanced. In the time to come, stepping onto the ice again, I'll be ready. Ready to hit that ice with more intent, a clearer head, and a stronger body. The offseason is a strange, lonely place; however, it is a place of growth, healing, and change. It's a reminder that there is so much more to life than the game, beauty in the silence, and strength in stillness. As I step out onto the ice for the next season, those are the lessons that I carry with me. Ready for whatever comes next. Who knows? Maybe my team will be able to surprise me and we’ll get past the first round.

For the defence I got to go for these guys from the other team who made it to the finals. They were leading the defenders in scoring, but also did really good job defensively.

I believe there is only one choice here. Bishop Van Apeldoorn was phenomenal through out the playoffs. He pretty much carried himself Ottawa to the finals.
12. On the Radar - 309 words - 7/16 tpe
Valtteri Pulkkinen, a winger from Maine Timber, is considered one of the finest winger prospects from upcoming S78 draft class. Going into the S77 SMJHL draft, Pulkkinen was pretty slept on prospect and fell into the late 2nd round until Maine got their first pick and took him at 30th overall. Pulkkinen has proved all the other teams wrong who passed up on him and has climbed his way all to the top of his draft class. He has proved with his incredible work ethic that he has bright future ahead of him.
The young winger (6-foot, 190-pounds) had promising rookie season in the smjhl scoring 17 goals and assisting 26 for total of 43 points with limited minutes in stacked Maine roster. With upcoming season Maine's 1st line moving up to shl its looking like Pulkkinen is going to be stepping up to fill a bigger role for his sophmore season. With more ice time, we will be seeing more of his strengths utilised.
He possesses exceptional hands and timing, making him an incredibly creative playmaker who delivers pucks to his linemates with one-touch passes. He's an outstanding goal scorer with a lightning-fast catch and release, sending the puck rocketing off his stick. His knack for anticipating plays keeps him a step ahead of everyone else on the ice. He exerts the same effort defensively as he does offensively. When he doesn't have the puck, he tirelessly works to regain possession. With excellent speed and agility, Pulkkinen can navigate through defenses effortlessly. His edgework and acceleration enable him to create separation from defenders, making him a versatile threat both on the rush and during set plays.
SHL teams looking for a future winger with a high ceiling and with right enviroment to develop in Maine, Pulkkinen got it all player needs to become a star in the league.

After a long season, the offseason is a much-needed to let your body and mind recover from the season. First thing I did after losing in the conference finals was book first flight back to Finland and enjoy some time with my family. It is a blessing that the season ends around summer time, because that is the time Finland comes to alive. It is amazing in the endless summer nights. First couple days I had to enjoy the nightlife in Helsinki with my close friend group that I haven't been able see since moving to overseas. After first couple of days I had to go to our family's summer cottage. I can't think of anything more relaxing than just enjoying the beautiful weather and just listening to nature sounds. The cottage is next to a lake so during hot day it is refreshing to jump into the lake to cool down a bit. The main activities comes during the night time when its time to heat up the sauna and fire up the bbq and make some delicious food. Sauna is a place where your mind and body really gets to relax. Open a cold one and thats perfect night. To cool down you can jump into the lake after coming out of the sauna. Repeat that couple of times and your body will feel so relaxed. One activity you always have to there is go to fishing. Fishing also one of those activities that really lets you reset mind from hockey. It is just so peaceful watch the sunset and try to get some fish.

I haven't been here in a while, but from what I can remember doing those old CW's I like this format more that you get to paid per word. I feel like it gives us more freedom to write about what we like to. Like you don't have to write certain amount of tasks if you got some cool story about one topic you can write the whole thing about one task.
For the normal smjhl pt's, I feel like they are just bit too generic and too repetitive. I get it that for new players it is propably cool to create a story for their player etc, but overall they just feel like they were made with too little effort. I would have also liked bit more of primetimes or some kind of task where you can earn more than others with predictions. As a someone who didn't create their player straight after deadline I missed a couple of weekly trainings and ac's so it takes lot of effort to catch up with the top earners.
overall you guys have been doing good work and I appreciate all of you who spends your free time here to make it enjoyable to us.
