What is something you expected to happen during this regular season that hasn't? Or conversely, what is something you didn't expect to happen this season that has?

In the casino this season, I bet the under on EDM. Somehow, we won more than 12 games! Which is fantastic for us, as a team, but less fantastic for my bank...

Unexpectadly N'Zola fell off hard in terms of goals and overall production for the first time in his entire career. One cannot be sure if it was just him playing bad or some tactics he did not follow through properly

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - Salming - 11-11-2024

William Salming expected that Hamilton Steelhawks grabs a last playoff spot in the East but unfortunately it didn't happen. They fell just short. Also Salming thought that Minnesota would have played better hockey than they did.

On a good note, I never expected us to finish in first place in the smjhl.  But we did, so now on ward and try not to let anyone stop our train rolling this season.

Teams that overperformed from my expectations: CGY, WPG, EDM, BAP
Teams that underperformed from my expectations: NOLA, CHI, ATL, MAN

Also I was expecting to see someone break the record for goals in a season but that didn't happen, nobody even got 60!

I was not expecting Chuck Stewart to be as offensive as he was. In S78, he finished the season with 15 points. It took him only a week to surpass that and finish with 52 points. Good enough to be on the leaderboard for goals and points. I'm sad he went into a goal-less slump at the end otherwise he would have had a chance for the defense goal scoring title.

I totally expected Winnipeg to finish last in our division, because on paper that should've happened. And I definitely wasn't the only one who thought so. At one point we were even relatively close to 2nd place. Sometimes FHM does rather weird things.

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - Nike - 11-11-2024

I was hoping (or expecting) that we would make the playoffs this season. We got off to a pretty horrible start and it just didn’t happen. Maybe next year.

I'll give you two!

I expected Erik Bergmark to pot 40 goals, as he has *every other season* of his career. That didn't happen, shockingly.

Second, I expected Texas to win the President's Trophy because they have, by far, the easiest division to compete in. I figured SFP and LAP were better teams, but Texas would pick up enough easy wins that it wouldn't matter. Oops.

Honestly I expected Maine to do better, even if I knew we might take a bit of a hit. We still did pretty well, just not as good as I thought we would. Still made the playoffs in a pretty good seed though.

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - JohnnyPatey - 11-11-2024

Looking at my teams record and our goal differential of almost -40, I am surprised that my player, who is playing top minutes, managed to stay a plus in the plus/minus category with a +2.

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - Rabidsponge21 - 11-11-2024

I was not expecting my player to post a +/- of +15 nor breaking 50 points as a defenseman already. I had a stupidly lucky season but do hope this is a trend for this player moving forward. Knowing my luck - doubtful - but only time will tell!

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - ZootTX - 11-11-2024

I wasn't sure what to expect in my first season with the Patriotes. Unfortunately, we missed the playoffs but are much improved year by year and my player had a decent first season for a rookie so that was kind of unexpected.

RE: S79 mPT #5: Expectations Subverted - Zerg - 11-11-2024

I did not expect Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz to be such a mediocrity this season. Justin Time's old bones got seven shutouts and a 0.908sv%. Grzegorz got only one and an even 0.900 thanks to a hot streak at the end of the season. Greg expected better of himself, but maybe he was saving it for the playoffs!
