Darby meets Sir Devoir - WildfireMicro - 11-23-2024 "Yes mom I am fine, the plane ride was uneventful" Darby Reznor says to his mom on the phone "the only thing I can say that was weird was an old guy next to me snoring louder than the movie until he suddenly woke up and ate some peanut butter crackers. He actually offered me one, and I took it... Yes mom I brought my winter coat, and yes it is kinda cold here... Alright I love you too. See you when I can" he sighs a bit after ending the call, moving his small luggage through the airport. He had agreed to go on a visit to his SHL team in the Baltimore Platoon's city, and he just landed in the city. He yawns as he enters the taxi, putting in some earphones and listening to his playlist. He was halfway through The Hand That Feeds when they reached the hotel he was staying at. "Hey buddy" the driver says as he gently shakes Darby "we reached the hotel. It is probably one of the nicer hotels in the area" "Oh ok" Darby says as he takes off his earphones and reaches for the door handle "I'll be the judge of the hotel quality" he stepped out, and the hotel was indeed big, with a couple of bellhops helping him with the little big of luggage he brought for the week long trip. The room was almost as big as the condo Darby had in Maine, and had a nice selection of Blu-rays next to the rather large TV. After resting a bit and watching Jim Carrey's The Mask for what feels like the 100th time in his life, he decided to head out and see what the city had for him. He was used to cities, being from Seattle, and he trusted himself to know which neighborhoods to avoid. As he skated along on the skateboard he brought, occasionally grinding the rails to get back in the groove, he passed by a smaller arena with a poster that says "Meet and greet the multiple times Arena Bowl champions: The Baltimore Bulldogs!" Darby could swear that he had heard that name before, so he got a closer look. "If you're gonna gawk at the poster, you might as well buy a ticket" At that voice, Darby turns around with his skateboard raised in alarm, until he noticed who was talking to him: a Gallade, who was wearing a Baltimore Bulldogs jersey and jeans and a jacket, seemingly because of the weather. "Hey hey realx!" The Gallade says, his arms rasied in a defensive pose "sorry for scaring you" "Wait..." Darby begins to say, lowering the skateboard "I know there are Pokemon in the woods but... You can talk?" "Oh! I know who you are!" The Gallade says, pointing a finger at Darby "you're one of the Platoon's draftees. My name is Sir Devoir, I used to play goalie for the Platoon" "Oh yeah" Darby puts the skateboard back on the ground, holding it in place with his foot "I should have recognized you, my bad." "Heh, I'm used to people recognizing my voice, so sorry for scaring you" "Anyways" Darby says as he grabs some gum from his pocket and starts chewing "what's your story with this place?" He indicates towards the arena "Oh I own the Baltimore Bulldogs, and the arena itself" Devoir smiles "Oh!" Darby says, looking surprised "Oh indeed. Come on, since I own it we can both talk inside instead of freezing our butts off" Devior leads Darby into the arena, using his key "I was aiming to enter the arena anyways, I need to make check finances and make sure everything is doing well" "I see" Darby says as he looks around. There are a few posters of team achievements, along with a poster talking about how the team had the Arena Football attendance record "Arena football is not exactly popular where I am, so I'm surprised this place is doing so well" "Oh we're probably the best run team in the league" Devoir smiles "there are a couple of teams in the league who are not running well at all, but I like to think that the ones who are running well help keep things going well" in Devoir's office Darby noticed a lot of memorabilia of when Devior was playing in Baltimore. "I hope you're enjoying your time in Baltimore so far" Devoir says "It's a city like any other" Darby shrugs "I'm not much of one to judge a place for ether it's best or worst quality" "That makes sense" Devoir says "look if you need anything while you're in Baltimore, just call me,nill give you my number" The two of them exchanged numbers as they both talked about hockey for a while. Yeah I kinda ran out of stem towards the end of this media, but I might make a follow up to it eventually. Thank you so much for reading and I hope to see you all on the ice! |
