RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

Good evening, and welcome to the Season 78 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I want to remind everyone of the voting rules!
Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th).
Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to support their choices.
These points are then totaled, and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Before we celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season.
Twenty-six players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 78 who, unfortunately, did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame.

RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

Our first inductee is one of those rare players that, as they finish their career, you eagerly await their arrival on the ballot to see how they stack up compared to previous inductees in the Hall, let alone others on the ballot. It's no surprise that a player who broke most of the records there were to be broken and is considered by many to be the best to ever play the position is our next unanimous first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee. Please join me in congratulating . . .

Awards:
1x Rookie All-SHL
1x 3rd Team All-SHL
3x 1st Team All-SHL
2x John McBride Nominee
1x John McBride Winner
3x Mike Honcho Winner
1x Ryan Jesster Nominee
2x Challenge Cup Champion (S57, S64)

[Image: 6109.png][Image: 4914.png]

Committee Quotes:
“Mat Smith is the greatest goalie in the history of the SHL. The first goalie to reach 500 wins, the all-time wins leader with 583, and an award cabinet bursting at the seams with 5 all-SHL teams, a McBride, two more McBride nominations, 3 Mike Honcho awards, and a Jesster nomination, Smith is the model of goalie excellence and a true generational legend. The fact that he lifted the cup twice with Chicago is just icing on the cake.”

“Mat Smith is arguably the greatest goalie to ever hit the SHL ice (so far). He has the league record for the most wins at 583, and no other goalie has yet managed to reach even 500. He earned 5 All-SHL nods over a 21 season-long career, and collected an obscene amount of hardware over that time. In total, Mat has four award wins (3 Honchos and a McBride), and 3 additional nominations for the Mcbride and Jesster. There's almost nothing he didn't accomplish.”

“5 All-SHL appearances, a McBride, 2 more McBride nominations, 3 Honchos, a Jesster nom, 2 cups, and the all-time wins record at 583. No other goalie has even reached 500. Mat Smith is the greatest to ever play the position in my opinion whether it be in the FHM or STHS era.”

“The 5-time All-SHL-er is the winningest goalie in SHL history with 583 wins. 1 McBride win, 2 more nominations, 3 Honcho wins, and 2 cups. He will be the gold standard for Hall of Fame goalie moving forward.”

RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

Our second inductee this evening, despite having a relatively short 11-season career, made the most of what time he had in the league. As one of our committee members says, "Not one but two MVP nominations, including a win, was just the start of an incredible career that included regular season and playoff success. This player joined the very exclusive club of non-cup winners to take home the Razov, and while he'd probably have preferred the cup, it speaks volumes about the quality he brought to his team every season." This kind of success, the kind that elevates those around you to also succeed while not diminishing yourself, is rare, and our committee has recognized it in this player, rewarding him with his induction into the Hall. Please join me in congratulating . . .

1x Ron Mexico Winner
1x Ryan Jesster Nominee
1x Sarmad Khan Nominee

[Image: 4981.png][Image: 4812.png]

Committee Quotes:
“Your almost stereotypical MVP: 3 All-SHL nods, a Razov win, a Mexico win, as well as additional nominations for the Mexico, Jesster, and Khan. Oh yeah, and a Richan win to boot. All of that, and he only played ELEVEN seasons.”

“Despite not having the longevity of some candidates, there is no doubt that Lebedev was the brightest star in the SHL at his peak. A Mexico and Razov winner, he was the driving force behind two Cinderella runs to the finals with the Manhattan Rage. Lebedev was better than a point per game in his career on a team that was nowhere close to as dominant as some of the competition during his tenure, but he elevated his team to a point that made them a threat to everyone.”

“Not one but two MVP nominations, including a win, was just the start of an incredible career that included regular season and playoff success. Lev joined the very exclusive club of non-cup winners to take home the Razov, and while he'd probably have preferred the cup, it speaks volumes about the quality he brought to his team every season.”

RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

Our third inductee this evening was the epitome of the two-way game for a large portion of his career, and for his efforts won four Jeff Dar trophies in a row, a feat that had never been done before (Andreas Kvalheim won 3 times in a row, from S54-56, and he was inducted in our previous class). This feat alone would at least put him in serious discussion for the Hall, but add in his Richan nomination, 2 All-SHL appearances, and more than PPG over the course of his 13 seasons, and, well, you have the makings of our next inductee! Please join me in congratulating . . .

Grogu Mandosson

@Muerto

Dragons : S64 - S70
Patriotes : S71 - S72
Aurora : S73 - S76

Career Regular Season Stats:
GP: 858 | G: 362 | A: 563 | P: 925 | +/-: 157 | Hits: 850 | SB: 642

Career Playoff Stats:
GP: 115 | G: 29 | A: 74 | P: 103 | +/-: 19 | Hits: 113 | SB: 79

Awards:
1x 3rd Team All-SHL
1x 2nd Team All-SHL
1x Aidan Richan Nominee
4x Jeff Dar Winner

Committee Quotes:
“Mastery of the two-way game allowed Mandosson to be a four-time winner of the Dar, a rare achievement that exemplified his commitment to being everything a team could want in a player. On top of being one of the best defensive forwards in the league, he still finished his career above a point per game pace.”

“The 4 time Dar winner was never able to secure a cup, but he was an absolute force over his 13 seasons, finishing with 925 points and 1.078 points per game.”

“Most awards won out of any skater with four Dars being a two-way forward specialist. Also averaged over a point a game during his eleven-season career while also having the most takeaways out of any eligible forward with over 700 while having the best TA/GA average of any forward at 1.11 on top of two All-SHL nominations and also the highest ppg average of any eligible player for the HoF being over a ppg at 1.078.”

“While his career was on the shorter side at 11 seasons total, Mandosson packed a whole lot therein: Two All-SHL nods on top of four whopping Dar wins, a Richan nomination, 1.078 PPG, and an outstanding TA/GA average of 1.11. To no one's surprise, he was a mainstay on the PP and PK, and to such a degree that he could be mistaken for a defenseman.”

THEM CARDS ARE LIT

RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

We have one more player inductee this evening! While this skater isn't the most decorated, his incredibly long career (29 seasons), consistent offensive performance, and ability to fit into almost any roster made him standout to the committee. He'll be easy to spot in the top 5 of games played and points scored in a career for a long while, so it makes sense to enshrine him in the Hall now that he's finally decided to retire. Please join me in congratulating our fourth inductee tonight . . .

2x Anton Razov Nominee
1x Challenge Cup Champion (S56)

Committee Quotes:
“The journeyman SHL'er was never able to secure an award, but his 1684 games played and 1326 points both rank 3rd all-time in SHL history which is more than deserving for Hall of Fame induction in this voter's opinion.”

“Clapper stands out with sheer numbers. Though he "only" had one All-SHL appearance and a couple of awards nominations, it's hard to look past such prolific stats when comparing him to other nominees with shinier accomplishments. Not only did he somehow play for 29 seasons, but he also tallied 1326 regular season points and landed himself firmly in 3rd all-time on the leaderboard.”

RE: Season 78 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 12-19-2024

Our final inductee this evening is not a player, but a GM. Leading their team through many up and down seasons, this GM has built their organization into one of the perennial powerhouses of the league and has left the team in a place where they will be continuing to compete for many seasons to come after their departure, which is the sign of a GM that not only made good decisions for present but for the future as well. Please join me in congratulating our final inductee tonight . . .

"LAP is what it is today because of Fuzz. At the helm for 22 seasons, he departed with 4 Uppercut wins (and another nomination), a McKeil nomination, a Presidents Trophy, and two cups."
"Fuzz accomplished pretty much everything as a GM, being recognized for management and coaching while putting up big win totals and two cups, all while going through multiple different up and down eras as a franchise."
