The Study of Detroit after Week 1 - o1playz - 12-24-2024 Deep Dive #1 - The Study of Detroit after Week 1 As we all know, Detroit has had a very miserable start to the season. Sitting at the bottom of the league and 2 games back before the next. With their sudden changes this season, are they really as bad as we think? The first thing I must talk about Detroit is their quick additions, and not just for veterans. It has been a rookie heavy signing. With 5 rookies on their roster, there is no way they are not bound for future success. While the rookies may not be performing. 2 stand out among the rest. Our first notable guy, Mitch Morris, is running down to a slow start. Despite this, he is running well for a current bottom 6 right winger, with 1 goal and 8 assists. While he may not be a strong case for rookie of the year, he is a definitive standout that I believe we should look at dangerously in the league in the near future. The current stand out goalie on Detroit, John Gibson, is currently running very well on this team. John has started with an atrocious 1-4 record and 4.69 Goals Against Average (GAA). Except John himself has performed exceptionally, going first in Save Percentage (SV%) among rookies, and T-12th in the SMJHL with an 89.7 SV%. With a 75 overall game rating. Which is currently Tied for top 10 in the entire SMJHL. He’s young, but he is dangerous. The SMJHL is not all about offense, and many dont win a championship with just offense, but defense too. The rookie Vasher Summers. Vasher has only 1 goal on the season. However, his defense is unmatched on the team. He leads the team in blocks with 64 Blocks, notably 11th in the entire SMJHL. He also has 48 Hits, which is 8th among Defenseman in the SMJHL. Vasher is a great player who proves he does not need to be on the scoreboard to be an amazing contributor to the team A must have to any team is leadership. It’s a necessity for your rookies, teammates, and coaching staff. Let’s take a dive into the leadership of the Detroit Falcons. The first, and main leader, is Jeffery Bjelland. A player who could be an SHL danger, but continues to play and develop the Detroit Falcons. Jeffrey currently leads the team in Goals and Points, with 10 goals and 19 points in 27 games. Jeffrey continues to take big strides in leading the Detriot Falcons, while continuing to perform time and time again, no matter the strength of the team he is on. With how much talking I did about Jeffrey, how could I forget about his main Defenseman. He goes by Elliot Alderson. Elliot is a strong defenseman on both sides of the puck, being 2nd on the team in blocks, behind Vasher, and 7 points on the season. While Elliot may be having a down season, dont count him out on rallying and leading the defenseman to another launch of greatness RE: The Study of Detroit after Week 1 - o1playz - 12-24-2024 accidental reply |
