Week 1 Blizz of the Week Award - HabsFanFromOntario - 12-30-2024

Welcome to the first season of Blizz Awards without Egg, it's truly the darkest timeline and we all hate it.

#1) Gwendolyn Telenn

Our #1 Blizz of the Week belongs to none other than Gwendolyn Telenn, putting up the second most points on the team with 20 (9 goals, 11 assists), a fantastic 29 takeaways to 9 giveaways and a 57.2 rating in the faceoff circle, Gwen contributed at a high level in all facets of the game and is deserving of this honour.

#2) Alexa Johansen

The #2 Blizz of the Week is last year's rookie of the year and Blizzard all star, Alexa Johansen. Third on the team with 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists) Johansen's play hasn't quite met the lofty expectations of her rookie season so far but she's been an incredibly valuable goal scoring machine for the Blizzard while also bringing a needed physical element with 33 hits.

#3) Dash Jackson

Every team needs a shutdown defender, a shot blocker, somebody you can throw on the ice and know your goalie is getting some damn help. Jackson fills that role for the Blizzard to a tee. Providing 14 points, 38 blocks and 22 takeaways to 2 giveaways, Jackson has been a do it all defender for the Blizzard so far this season.

Honourable Mention: Matviy Cajabi

Not everything you do for a team ends up on the stat sheet, providing 9 points from the 2 line in 18 games, with 23 blocks and 23 hits shows excellent two way play but Cajabi, formally called GOAT by his teammates is a icon in the locker room and even has a Blizzard tattoo earning him honourable mention status.

As always, to all the winners be sure to claim your prize of redacted from the Edmonton Blizzard front office.
