Identify the prompt you are using in your submission - Copying and pasting the prompt will deduct from your word count so if you do this make sure YOUR submission is 150+ words excluding the prompt. Written Option 1: Offseason is always time for rest but for those aspiring to be best it is also time to get together with the like minded players and push their training to the next level. Does your player train alone during the offseason or do they group up with someone else? Who do they train with? Do they rent a rink with their current teammates, maybe get together with old ones from the juniors or even just their buddies from the national team? Do they focus on certain things or take a more broader approach? How hard do they train? Who do you think runs the best or toughest bootcamp? Is your player invited? Would or do they go? Graphic Option 1: Create an image of your player training with their friend. Written Option 2: Or maybe there are more important things in life. Offseason is the prime time for your player to spend time with their family and other important people in their lives. Does your player have a spouse? Kids? Pets? How about parents and siblings? Other important people that are part of their daily lives? How is your players relations to them? Introduce us to your player’s family (and/or close friends). Graphic Option 2: Create a family portrait for your player. You will receive 3 TPE for fulfilling all requirements. All responses are due on Sunday, February 16th at 11:59 PST. NOTE: IF YOU SUBMIT/EDIT AFTER THE DEADLINE YOU WILL RECEIVE REDUCED/NO TPE. Graphics need to be viewable when PT is graded or you will not receive TPE. The first people he schedules training sessions with are his brother Nevek Kove and his mentor Kev Kevens. Those two players have such a wealth of knowledge and advice that Ylib is always keen to take advantage of. Since most of his hockey knowledge and skill was learned from those two, it's a no brainer to keep training with them. For another source of variety, Ylib likes to return to his junior rink in Yukon and train with some of the up and coming J league players. He can pass on his experience from the big leagues while also making sure he can still keep up with the youthful energy of the younger players. Of course the offseason is still meant for relaxing, so he tries to have fun with the training sessions and makes sure to appreciate and enjoy the variety and lighter pace of his training during this time. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Salming - 02-10-2025 Task 1: William Salming begins his 23th SHL season soon so he is pretty experienced veteran already and has lots of experience how to train during offseason. He made some errors in the past and would like to share now some important knowledge. A one former coach once told Salming that the most important thing to do is to decide which time you are going to practise. When the time is on the calendar, then you have a higher chance to keep your routines going on every day and you are not cheating yourself. So, first decide the time and then you can think about what do you want to train. For Salming, he usually likes to develop both weaknesses and strengths. It is a good strategy. He trains mainly alone or with the coach and then sometimes participates to ice practises but usually he returns to the ice just before the preseason begins. That way he keeps himself hungry for the game of hockey. There are 66 games in the season so he will get enough ice practises during the campaign. Truth be told, she's glad to play international, because hockey does make her feel at home, and like the world is more comfortable. Still, IIHF doesn't last forever, and eventually she's left with time to herself. She spends time with teammates; Matthias, in particular, is quick to try and fill her time as much as possible. She would never admit it, but sometimes, she appreciates it a lot, Matthias getting her out of her own head and to live life in the moment. Of course, at other times, he's annoying as heck. That tends to be when she'd rather spend time with Gwendolyn, or even Olafur, though she wishes his accent was a little less thick. But she always does end up spending time at home over the offseason, as well, in San Diego. Neither her nor her father spend much time there, not anymore. She's in Edmonton, he's helping run St Louis, and for a part of her, it feels like losing a little bit of herself. So she needs to go, visit her mom's grave, and reconnect with her history, at least for a little bit. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Frenchie - 02-10-2025 In a weird twist of events, Derek Martin was spotted touring the Ottawa Highlanders facility. As a player, Derek had worn the orange and black of the Carolina Kraken, under GM's Chris Conner and Maurice O'Bready. It was a moment in which Derek was able to catch up on a few seasons of SMJHL action with his past co-GM, who's been driving the Ottavian expansion team for 5 seasons now. When asked about this surprising offseason endeavour, Martin said he was looking for new avenues of leadership, a new way to approach the game, to perhaps engage with his teammates and front office staff. About whether or not this was a hint at some future plans for the Los Angeles forward, Martin smiled, shut down any doubts about his future, saying he was committed to Los Angeles, now and for the long forseeable future. He added that getting a chance to train in some state of the art facilities, whilst also shadowing what he views as a mentor over his career, was too good to pass up, especially with such a special night as draft night happening. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - LALLAREN_1 - 02-10-2025 Option 1: (187 words) Dionicio spends the off-seasons training alone back at home in Sweden. A player's life is hectic and often on the road, even “home” in this case Quebec is a continent away from Kalmar, Sweden. The chance to spend time back at home in his native Sweden with family and friends is a rare opportunity Dionicio always takes each off-season. The focus during the off-season training is physicals and skating. The best time to really focus on the gym and pure skating is the off-season. All the technical details are trained during the season’s practices and games but there is rarely time or the ability to focus on strength and skating during the season. Dionicio’s game is built on his ability to be stronger and faster, pure athletic ability can make up for almost anything if the advantage is large enough! While Dionicio tends to be alone just due to where he lives and trains, teammates from his junior days and even sometimes the national team do drop by to catch up and help push Dionicio to become better every day. The goal is set, it's three-peat time! RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Cobbenstein - 02-10-2025 Denebor Milasch always has very busy and active offseasons. There are several different places and people he trains with and this offseason was no exception. Normally after the season ends, Denebor would still spend several weeks in Toronto training with any staff and players that stick around the area after the season. After those first few weeks he would leave for Sweden to join the national team and train with the staff and players there. After that he would generally take some time off before returning to Toronto to pick up with the staff there. This offseason thoigh Denebor has to take even more time off to get his affairs in order as he made the big move to Atlanta. This cut into his training time, but he is doing everything he can to make for that time with his new teammates and coaches here. The slight changes in his training regiment they have suggested have been a motivating change to get in top form again even this late into his career. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - MrPrime - 02-10-2025 Joe Primeau's offseason would be a family affair, blending tradition, grit, and high-level training. Being from Montreal, Quebec, and coming from a hockey lineage, I see him embracing the old-school meets modern approach to training. Joe wouldn’t train alone—he’d get together with his father, Bastien, and grandfather, Sebastien, both of whom played in the SMJHL before him. That’s three generations of hockey players pushing each other to be better. His father, being a former forward, would help sharpen his offensive instincts, puck protection, and physicality, while his grandfather, a goaltender, could give him insight into how netminders think, helping Joe become a more deceptive and effective goal-scorer. Besides family, I could see him renting ice time with fellow junior hockey players such as Claude L'Castor, Jordan Lafreniere, Matthew Leroux, or even pros from the NHL training in Montreal during the summer. Given the city’s deep hockey culture, he’d have access to elite talent to skate with, whether it's WHL, QMJHL, AHL, or even NHL guys returning home for the offseason. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Fluw - 02-10-2025 PT pass RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Ricer13 - 02-10-2025 Option 1: Peter Tingle is more than just a hockey player and spends quite a bit of his offseason time at his second profession. It does require a lot of training and the training does fit what he needs to be doing for hockey as well. There is a bit of work in the gym but it’s usually just a competition with his other hero buddies to see who’s stronger. He’s actual training consists of protecting the world from unknown dangers. He doesn’t get to do alot of this during the regular season so the offseason he has a lot of making up to do because of the other hero’s covering for him. Each season it seems to get more difficult as the threats to the world seem to only get bigger and badder. He does miss the old days when he got to protect his friendly neighborhood but as he’s gotten older it’s only gotten more intense. RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Beavie - 02-10-2025 Option 1: As I have already had media introducing him and his family, I will focus on how Claude trained this off-season. After taking a little time with family, he's been working hard on his cardio. He's a naturally big guy and has slimmed a bit during the season on the combination of his regimen and an improving diet (Though he has his soft spot for certain foods). He has dropped from 250 to about 235. This is not reflected in his stats. His hopes is just to be able to handle longer stretches of play in the future. If Nevada hopes to go deep in the playoffs (eventually, we have been hit by a sudden need to rebuild), then Claude will have to be able to handle an entire series. This off-season in particular, his training was much like the regular season with BOTH the IIHF worlds and the WJCs calling his name. Thankfully for him, it was all in his hometown so he was one of the few people in the tournament who could sleep in his own bed before going to high level play. He's hopeful this extra experience will do him well in Nevada, and with Buffalo in the future. |
