Please pick ONE prompt to write about. Do not mix and match prompts. Identify the prompt you are using in your submission - Copying and pasting the prompt will deduct from your word count so if you do this make sure YOUR submission is 150+ words excluding the prompt.

Written Option 1: Being a player in SHL and SMHJL requires a lot of hours in the plane as roadtrips take the teams all over the continent. Sometimes the visits are very short and you’ll be getting back to home right after the game but sometimes there is time for more. Which city is your player's favorite to visit, a place where they hope to be able to spend a day between travels to enjoy what the city has to offer? Is it home to a division rival that they get to visit often or maybe home of a team from the other conference that your player only gets to visit once a season? Why do they like that city and what do they do there when they have the opportunity?

Graphic Option 1: Create an image of your player enjoying the stay at home city of another team.

Written Option 2: What, in your opinion, is needed for a good expansion brand and location? Is it just a catchy name that sounds good alongside your city location? Is it important to make sure the brand references the history of its location or brings something important to the sport of hockey? You can use examples to demonstrate your opinions.

Graphic Option 2: Create an image related to the upcoming SHL expansion.

I would say it depends. You can bring up a Brand that is perfect fit for the area in history. But if you talk about history then it would be the old tribes. Or in Europe the Greeks, Romans or Celts and so on. In Asia you would have India, China and Japan or Khmer as example. So the question is how you definite the word history.
Then you also can look just at the city history. So that means you can bring up a City like Tokio and the Brand Samurai or Shogun. I took here with intention not North America. The problem for me as European is the short time of history for USA and Canada in the world history in comparison. In that way I can explain my opinion better.
In the end it is mostly a first Brand and City. I saw as one of the older members here several City recolation and rebrands. So that means no City or Brand will be forever if the future Head GMs and also the Head Offices believes a change would be better.

Written Option 2: A good expansion brand, in my opinion, really does need to have some kind of justifiable link to the city it's representing. I know some sports teams in real life have little to no link to the place they play (see the Lakers, the Jazz), but we can and should expect better in SHL. I'm not demanding it be an incredibly deep connection, though I think the deeper the connection the better, but it must at least be justifiable. If you're putting a team in a location, you need to be able to draw on that location for inspiration. Every city that can be considered for a legitimate shot at an SHL team has a history and culture unique to it. Display that! Make us think about something about that city with your branding! There are good existing examples of this in the SHL, already, and example of it being done poorly too. The San Francisco Pride are an incredibly clever brand considering their location and the culture of San Fran, but Philly being the Forge makes no sense when Pittsburgh is the famous steel city. So make your branding make sense, please!

WHO WANTS TO TALK EXPANSION!?

While I'm making my own team idea, not sure if it'd be used in an official application, I think a good team identity comes down to a very important thing.

Location, Location, Location: This is all a fake universe, nothing is real. But despite that, I think some level of "realism" needs to be obtained. Sorry, no moon. I think North America is the region to keep it in. But also I think the city should be either something which has the size to potentially hold a team, or has/already has a team IRL. But I can get it'd be boring seeing teams in the same cities. So some off the board picks with a smaller-ish population can work. Someone mentioned a city they were considering to me and it was one I didn't think of, but once I looked at it, makes sense. Then, pick an identity which sounds good and, if possible, fits the city. Nevada called the Battleborn based on their state name as the "Battleborn state." Then Calgary Dragons, may not have dragons in Calgary, but it sounds cool.

Written Option 2:
What makes a good expansion team really comes down to two things; cool art design and a catchy name. If you have a jersey that looks too generic, it wont really hold much in terms of generating new fans to the franchise, and if you name the team something generic like the Eagles or Wildcats, you are looking for a bad time. But, often times you can mix the the two to create something that is different and unique. Looking at the 1993 expansion draft in the NHL, the league introduced two teams, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the Florida Panthers. While Ducks and Panthers may seem to be basic names, (because they are) the teams art design for their jerseys were borderline perfect. The iconic Mighty Ducks logo is something that is still being referenced as one of the best jersey designs in the league. When thinking of the expansion team, I believe most consideration should go into the actual name of the team and design of the jerseys in order to make it successful.
