It's a fight for the last playoff spot in the west. on 2/13/2048, EDM vs WPG. After a mid-season collapse, this is the game circled on the calendar that might give EDM a chance to still make the playoffs, still make it into the dance against all odds. The problem: WPG hasn't lost to EDM even a single time this season, and by all statistics looks like the better performing team. So it's going to be tense, and tight, as each team battles for to prove they belong in the playoffs. Alexa isn't usually a nfighter, but in this case, she will, if needed. Even as team captain, or especially as team captain! Someone needs to show the team that we don't take shit here, and while who knows who on WPG might do it, if anyone hassles a Blizzard too much on the ice, she's coming in swinging, win or lose, just to show this is our time. RE: S81 PT #4: To The Last Drop of Blood - Chris-McZehrl - 03-10-2025 written option #2 At first I always try to motivate my teammates but in Texas it is different. Because we all motivate us each other. That is very amazing and the first time I can explain this about a LR. We all try our best to help the team with the success. After trading out so many top players in the offseason we really thought we could maybe make the playoffs but more at the bottom end and not at the top end. The performance of the whole team so far is amazing and this is clearly a team success performance. Personally I can help with my offense performance the team. the lack of defense is well saved by players like Jack McCarthy, Hodor but also Jack St. Clair and Marton Diehm. The GMs put me together with this squad because if have my top strengths in the offense and the 4 linemates have more and better defensive play. Until now it really works out very well. We hope that this team success can go until the end of the season and then with a hopefully a TOP 4 Place in the regular season we can have in the first round and probably also second round the home advantage for the playoffs. It can be long, slow going but n the road to the playoffs, and sometimes it doesn’t work out, but those times when it does are genuinely magical. Everybody knows about the majesty of taking home a cup, but it’s seldom spoken of just how brilliant it can feel to be the team that breaks through the wall, and rejoins the playoffs. Really, it’s an excellent feeling. Not to say that Edmonton will be satisfied, because we certainly won’t be - that cup has our name on it, and the replicas in the many many many hidden shrines throughout Edmonton’s arena is living proof of that c: RE: S81 PT #4: To The Last Drop of Blood - kdr - 03-10-2025 Option #1: It is Februrary 23, 2048 and the season in the SHL is winding down. The Seattle Argonauts are in a tight race to finish second in the division with their heated rivals the Calgary Dragons. Seattle is up in the standings and have a chance to give a daggers blow to their rivals in the chase for the playoffs. It is a game that is going very well for the Seattle Argonauts as going into the 3rd period they are up 3-1. However, Gordon McFisherman can feel the tension in the air. He knows that those Dragons are planning to shake things up and his line mate Eddie Fischerman has been the star of the game with a hat trick. Then the Calgary Goon Grunlund lines up Eddie and takes a cheep shot at him and that is all Gordon needs. He zooms over and challenges the goon to put him in his place. He might not look like it but Gordon is a solid fighter. He has great balance and knows how to tug bigger player off balance and put them on their backs. After a quick confrontation Gronlund finds himself on his back staring up at Gordon's fits. After being separated Gordon celebrates around the ice and gets the hometown crowd going. That will put Calgary in their place and Seattle goes on to win the game. He pushes himself harder in practice, setting the tone with relentless forechecking, extra reps in the gym, and maintaining high intensity in every drill. He doesn’t take a shift off in games, throwing his body around, winning board battles, and setting up teammates. If anyone’s coasting, he’s the first to call them out and get them back in the fight. Joe isn’t necessarily a rah-rah speech guy, but he knows when to speak up. If the team is slipping in focus or energy, he’ll pull guys aside—individually or as a group—and make sure everyone understands what’s at stake. A well-timed speech after a rough period or a big moment in a game can fire everyone up, and Joe has no problem stepping up when needed. At this stage in the season, it’s about more than just X’s and O’s. Chemistry can be the difference between a deep playoff run and an early exit. Joe organizes team dinners, especially after road games, to keep morale high and make sure younger guys feel included. He might get the team together for some off-ice bonding—whether it’s a night of poker, watching a big game together, or something as simple as grabbing breakfast after morning skates. Joe pays attention to the little things that can give the team an edge. Maybe it’s an extra video session with linemates to work on positioning. Maybe it’s helping a struggling teammate get some extra reps after practice. Maybe it’s making sure the locker room stays loose when the pressure starts to mount. As a power forward, Joe knows that playoff hockey is about grinding, about being willing to do the dirty work. He makes sure the whole team is in that mindset now—blocking shots, finishing checks, playing a complete 200-foot game. That way, when the playoffs arrive, they’re already playing the right way rather than trying to flip a switch. At this point in the season, it’s about making sure everyone is dialed in, playing for each other, and ready to go to war together. Joe Primeau wouldn’t have it any other way. |
