RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - Sburbine - 04-18-2025 Wow so many zerks RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 Good evening, and welcome to the Season 80 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I want to remind everyone of the voting rules!
Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th). Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to support their choices. These points are then totaled, and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Before we celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season. Thirty-one players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 80 who, unfortunately, did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame. But his dominance wasn't clear on just one end of the ice, and his FOUR total Dar nominations prove that his prowess on both ends was clear to everyone. Please join me in welcoming tonight's first inductee . . . RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 ![]() ![]() Evan Winter @RomanesEuntDomus ![]() ![]() ![]() Career Regular Season Stats: GP: 792 | G: 419 | A: 604 | P: 1023 | +/-: 408 | Hits: 1082 | SB: 567 Career Playoff Stats: GP: 157 | G: 76 | A: 98 | P: 174 | +/-: 32 | Hits: 198 | SB: 118 Awards: 1x Rookie All-SHL 2x 2nd Team All-SHL 2x 1st Team All-SHL 1x Aidian Richan Nominee 1x Jay McDonald Winner 3x Jeff Dar Nominee 1x Jeff Dar Winner 1x Ron Mexico Nominee 1x Ryan Jesster Nominee 2x Sarmad Khan Nominee 2x Challenge Cup Champion (S73, S78) ![]() ![]() Committee Quotes: “Evan Winter led two separate teams to Challenge Cup wins and excelled as a two-way forward. Appearing on the final Dar ballot 4 times (including a win), Winter was also a scoring machine. His lone Jay McDonald win doesn't tell the full story, as he also lost a scoring race while still posting a top 3 all-time scoring season. With 5 all-SHL appearances, more than anyone on the ballot, Winter not only managed to be one of the league's elite, but did it for a long stretch of time." “The latest Winter in a long line of SHL superstardom, Evan is no different than those before him, with another long and successful career. The 5 time All-Star was a two-way force during his prime with 1 Dar Award win and 3 more nominations. He was no slouch offensively either, with 1 Mexico award nomination, 2 Khan award nominations, and 1 McDonald award win. Over the course of 12 seasons, he played in just shy of 800 games and collected 1023 points, resulting in a ridiculous 1.292 points per game average.” "Evan Winter accomplished much in a relatively "short" SHL career. In that time, he received 5 All-SHL nods (for close to half of his career!), a whopping 10 total award wins/nominations, and somehow maintained close to 1.3 PPG. My favourite thing with all of that in mind is that he won a Dar (among other awards) for his two-way play, not just for how clearly insane he was at getting the puck into the back of the net.” RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 Our next inductee this evening has a trophy cabinet that rivals some of the most decorated skaters in league history, with 2 All-SHL appearances and 5 Award wins, not to mention the two Challenge Cups that he helped his team win. With just over 1500 regular-season games played, this player can be viewed as one of the best forwards in the FHM6 era, and he has the stats to back it up, with over 1200 points and over 2200 hits BEFORE the scoring and hit inflation of FHM8. Please join me in congratulating our second inductee this evening . . . RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 ![]() ![]() Ryuuji Minamino @Nhamlet ![]() Career Regular Season Stats: GP: 1502 | G: 533 | A: 683 | P: 1216 | +/-: 289 | Hits: 2248 | SB: 482 Career Playoff Stats: GP: 263 | G: 97 | A: 85 | P: 182 | +/-: 20 | Hits: 443 | SB: 119 Awards: 1x Rookie All-SHL 1x 1st Team All-SHL 1x Aidan Richan Winner 1x Jay McDonald Winner 1x Ron Mexico Winner 1x Ryan Jesster Nominee 1x Sarmad Khan Winner 1x Sergei Karpotsov Winner 2x Challenge Cup Champion (S57, S64) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Committee Quotes: “Minamino won 5 awards (most out of any eligible player), and had an impressively long career of twenty-three seasons, which displayed a ton of high-level consistency. He had over 1,200 points, which is the most out of any currently eligible player, over 2,200 hits, and had 2 All-SHL nominations and an additional award nomination. He was arguably the best forward in the FHM6 era, playing his peak and most of his career before the FHM8 points inflation era.” “In my opinion, Minamino is the best candidate in this class. Over 1200 points, 2 cups, and 5 awards show it. His 23 seasons in the league had him averaging 0.810 p/g, while it's on the lower end of the spectrum, it's still very respectable with a career that long.” “Minamino built a long and storied career over two decades. Over 500 goals and 1200 points put him in some of the loftiest company in SHL history, not to mention having the distinction of leading the league in goals, points, and winning both regular season MVP awards in a single season. As important as any of his awards was contributing to two Challenge Cup victories.” RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 Our final inductee this evening is another player who spent his entire career with one team, but was incredibly successful with that team. Almost 1200 points, more than 1600 hits, and an impressive list of award nominations and wins means we have another excellent addition to the Hall. Please join me in welcoming our final induction for the evening . . . His outstanding performance carried over to the playoffs, with two Razov nominations and a historic cup win for his team.” “AllBran had over a ppg throughout a seventeen-season career, over 1000 career points, 6 award nominations, over 1,600 hits, and 3 All-SHL nods. He also had a few seasons playing defense, which makes his offensive numbers more impressive since defenders have much lower point totals than forwards. AllBran also has the most playoff points out of any eligible player on the ballot and the best ppg average in the playoffs at well over 1 ppg.” RE: Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony - AgentSmith630 - 04-18-2025 This concludes the Season 80 Hall of Fame Ceremony! See you soon for Season 81!
