- Turd Ferguson - 04-06-2013 <div align="center">Chiefs Select Bauer First Overall “With the first overall pick in the Season Thirteen Simulation Hockey League Draft, the Minnesota Chiefs are proud to select, from the Prince George Firebirds, Christian Bauer.†With these words, spoken by Minnesota Chiefs general manager Jon Doran, a new chapter would begin in the career of SHL prospect Christian Bauer. Bauer, who was selected third overall by the Prince George Firebirds in the Season 12 NWJHL Draft, teamed up with Isabella Esparza-Osvaldson and Reinhold Deitrich to form one of the top forward lines in the NWJHL. Bauer ended up leading all S13 prospects in points in the NWJHL, with 35 points in 40 games, good enough to give him not only the points lead, but the most goals (18) and second most assists (17) of any prospect. Bauer’s dominant performance caught the eye of many franchises, and the Chiefs, who held the first overall pick, were one of them. Bauer looks to be one of the best young players in the league, and should start to fill the holes in the forward lineup left by the retirements of Anton Wagner, Zach Miller, and Pavol Skvoznak. Bauer will be joining a potent forward lineup that also includes Emma Watson, Markus Backlund, Ja’Far Dar, Nick Fisher, and Reggie Williams. “I can’t wait to join the Chiefs,†said Bauer after the draft. “It’s a great organization with a lot of history and a lot of great players. I’m honored to be selected first overall and I’m excited to play for Minnesota.†The now-retired Anton Wagner, who used to play for the Chiefs, voiced his support of the Chiefs’ selection in an interview on the SHL Network. “I think they made a great pick in Bauer,†said Wagner of the first overall pick. “Having seen him play, he’s got a great all-around game, and off the ice he doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy to cause any controversy.†The young American has been praised for his back checking ability, as Bauer, despite being a true offensive talent, is also very good at playing defensively if needed. “He’s one of the best players I’ve seen that can get involved on both ends of the ice,†continued Wagner. “I think he has the potential to be a franchise player in Minnesota.†There is no way of knowing whether Bauer will reach this potential, but as of now he looks to be one of the best prospects in the league. “I’m looking forward to seeing how he turns out,†said one scout. “I think he’s a great fit with the Chiefs.â€</div> Code: ~450 words - Munk - 04-06-2013 Oh Turdy turdy turd turdface.
