First and Foremost, Congratulations to the St. Louis Scarecrows for their first ever championship!
We hope to have another successful SMJHL season and have a couple of announcements to make!
GM Openings:
The Detroit Falcons and Prince George Firebirds will be looking for new GM's this season. If interested, send in your resume, cover letter, and references to JP, HFFO, or myself. Be sure to include why you would be the best candidate and which team you would prefer. Applications will be open for 3 days.
The Knights are also looking for a Co-GM so if you want to get your feet wet send in an application to Kylrad.
GM Conduct:
Continuing on the note of GM's, it has come to my attention that the conduct of some of our SMJHL GM's over the last season has not been lets just say.... Exemplary.
We expect our GM's to be role models for our new members, act maturely, and not get into constant flame wars on the boards (regardless of which section it is in).
If GM's are unable to conduct themselves appropriately, they may just find themselves replaced with a more suitable candidate.
Mentorship Committee:
We will be bringing back the Welcoming committee which unfortunately fell apart and was never rebuilt. They will act as a mentorship group for new members, and help us approve members in an efficient manner. We are looking for someone to lead this committee. If interested, please send in your application to JP, HFFO, or myself mentioning why you would be a good candidate and what other ideas you have! Applications will be open for 2 days.
Rule Changes:
[1) SMJHL teams may now sign newly created players as free agents up until the last game of the season. Previously this could only be done up until the trade deadline. We had quite a few promising members join right after the trade deadline and while they remained active for a few days after, the long wait ultimately made them inactive.
2) Team Training Camp will no longer count towards the training cap of 30. Thus, the training cap will remain at 30 but will be effectively raised by 10.

SMJHL Lottery / GM Announcement:
Saturday around 11:00 AM PST
SMJHL Combine:
Early- mid next week.
SMJHL Draft:
Depends on recruitment, late next week / early week after if everything goes well!
Lastly, a recent article made a request that commish's make themselves more available to answer questions. Thus I will be holding a "Ask a Junior Commish" presser following this announcement located in the SHL media section.

Don't see why they wouldn't allow your input. Been done before by Scherbluk, GOB etc. and you were around DET for a while and did well enough to warrant it.
