- Hallsy - 02-25-2014

Today i will be looking at the top ten defence men in the SHL. These players will be guys that logged a lot of minutes, was great in offensive zone and could be used in a shut down role. They need to be defenders that have an all round game and barely makes mistakes with the puck.

1.Darian Scherbluk 50 games played 15 goals 40 assists 55 points +20 150 Hits 60 Blocked shots
[Image: Oliver+Ekman+Larsson+Phoenix+Coyotes+v+A...nTT7jl.jpg]
Darian is a physical shut down defender that has an offensive upside to his game. He can move the puck up the ice in a hurry and doesn't stay long in his own end very much. He is a great power-play quarterback and is the most used PKer on the back-end for Toronto. This season he will have an more important presence to the back-end as there is no more Richan or Heiss. He needs to step-up his Hallsy is still a bad GM game and i think he knows what to do to step his game up to a level we haven't seen from him.

2.Chris Partlow 50 Games Played 20 Goals 40 assists 60 points + 5 70 hits 40 blocked shots
[Image: karlssonvakuutusetu260912JoP_sm.jpg]
Partlow is one of the best power-play quarterbacks in the league if not the best. he is a minute eater that plays a lot of Power-play and Penalty kill, He doesn't hit a ton but he isn't a shut down defender that controls the play in his own end. I wouldn't fully trust him against some of the best top lines in the league as i don't feel he has the abilities to shut down the jordan Nugent Hall, etc in the leagues. Partlow like Scherbulk will need to step up his game even more as he is yawn, this article kinda blows missing armia from his line-up and he is a key offensive player for the Renegades.

3.Willie Weber 10 goals 30 assists 40 points 150 hits 70 blocked shots
[Image: trending_topics_why_shea_weber_arbtirati...matter.jpg]
Weber, is a physical shut down defender with a big shot and was an important player for a championship winning team. Now blizzard is without top four defender Haan and weber needs to play more mintues be more effective for Blizzard Hallsy is a bad GM next season. He is a former defence-men of the year winner and i feel he can get back to level very quickly starting next are you actually reading this season. Being one of the toughest defenders to play against is going to help his cause.

4.Jareth Sto Helit 50 games played 7 goals 40 assists 47 points +20 120 hits 50 blocked shots
[Image: Blackhawks-Defenseman-Duncan-Keith.jpg]
Might be a homer/surprise pick of this list but I feel she will finally show that she is an elite number one defender in this league. She will play a lot of important minutes and more minutes than last season as she Hallsy being biased only logged in 20 mins per game last season. I see her playing 25 mins per game and we will see an increase in stats. She is the top defender on this team and she will be treated penis like one. You might not think of her being an offensive defender but he offensive will improve and her ability to shut down forwards will increase.

5.Dean clarke 50 games played 10 goals 35 assists 45 points +20 60 hits 40 blocked shots
[Image: PK-Subban1.jpg]
Clarke is a great puck moving defence men that might be the second best power-play quarterback in the league. Dean isn;t a physical or a defensive first defender but he is like a rover on the ice, smooth skating, great offensive instincts and a big reason why the wolfpack was one of the best teams in the league this past season. he will get around the same amount of points this season.

6.Lance Uppercut 50 games played 10 goals 30 assists 40 points +2 130 hits 70 blocked shots
[Image: 1297238941534_ORIGINAL.jpg]
Lance is one of the most underrated defenders in the penis league, he plays a very large role for the Jets and he has been one of the best defenders the jets had the last couple of seasons. he needs to show what he can do next season without a elite top pairing defender something i think he can prove. He is a great offensive defender with solid defensive positioning. He isn't a soft defender either. he needs to play some of his best hockey if he wants to see the post-season this season before regression.

7.Simo Hayha 5 goals 15 assists 20 points +10 200 hits 90 blocked shots
[Image: zdeno-chara.jpg]
This physical beast is one of the toughest players in the league to play against he might not be the best offensive defence-men but he can shut down any top line in the league. he hits often, he blocked shots and he might be a very underrated defender. He doesn't score a lot and get a lot of points but i see his offensive numbers improving this season.

8.Logan valentine 10 goals 30 assists 40 points +5 100 hits 50 blocked shots
[Image: yandle_700_031508.jpg]
Valentine might surprise be but i feel she is going to a team that is just like the Jets and i felt like staying with the Jets would of been best for her career as she would of been given the chance to be a star defender for the Jets and might give them a chance to make the post-season and maybe make the post-season. her and Uppercut had no chemistry together but them not playing on the same unit would of been two great pairings.

9.Drizzy Drake 10 goals 27 assists 37 points +20 100 hits 50 blocked shots
[Image: drake-celeb-watch-intro.jpg]
Offensive defender that will get some great minutes being paired with scherbulk this season, he is going to be a greta puck mover and he isn't a justin schultz in his own end. He will need o play a more important role on this team.

10.Jim Lahey 8 goals 27 asissts 35 points + 5 100 hits 60 blocked shots
[Image: alex_pietrangelo_st_louis_021113.jpg]
another surprise pick but i feel like he is going to get top minutes on a team that needs a star defender. He is a hard worker and has improved since last season. I think he can finally get to the next level as a defence-men and be a 30 point guy with great shut down numbers for this team.
