- Eggy216 - 07-22-2015

We've still got a bit of time before the puck drops on game one of the series between the Detroit Falcons and the Montreal Impact in game one of the seconds round of the SMJHL playoffs, so while we're waiting we decided to take a look at one question that every single member of the Detroit Falcons has had at one point or another during this season. That question is: Which My Little Pony Character am I, anyway? Well today we decided to sit down and take a look at the team to try and figure out which player best matches which Pony.

And you're about to be among the first to see the results.

We went through and painstakingly analyzed the personalities and playstyle of each individual player, through out patent-pending "Ponyzation analysis system." The results you're about to see may shock you, as they are guaranteed to contain massive amounts of friendship. Those with weak hearts and those who do not understand that friendship is magic should seek medical help immediately, and definitely should not read this article. Seriously, this level contains high amounts of the magic known as friendship. You have been warned.

Alex Mack - Applejack

The first Falcon up on the list is Alex Mack. Mack is a very dedicated player, and works harder than anyone else out on the ice - a fact which is reflected by his play. Mack is likely playing in his last season with the Detroit Falcons before he leaves juniors to move up and play in the SHL. The fact that he's moving on to where he belongs reflects Applejack, who realized she knew where she belonged and earned her mark when she returned there, just as Mack will earn his wings when he moves up to the SHL where he belongs.

Allan Stewart - Cheese Sandwich

Cheese Sandwich is a partier, who travels throughout Equestria to throw parties wherever he goes. Allan Stewart would get along with him quite well. Stewart doesn't like to show up to things that he doesn't consider fun. He never hits the gym, he skips team practices, doesn't make media appearances, and occasionally fails to show up for games. But when there's a party to be had, you know you'll be there. In fact, that's the one thing you can count on him to do. These two are similar in just about every way you can think of, including that it is unlikely that we ever see either one ever again.

Andre Martushev - Star Swirl the Bearded

Martushev is one of the foundations of the Falcons, holding steady on the second defensive pairing all season long. While he's had some major discipline issues all season long, his offensive and defensive prowess have allowed him to provide a base for others to play off of. Star Swirl the Bearded is quite similar, providing the base upon which Equestria could be founded. However, neither Star Swirl is never seen throughout My Little Pony, just as Martushev is not seen anymore either inside or outside of the Falcons locker room.

Austin Lemieux - Princess Celestia

Austin Lemieux is the younger half of Detroit's dominating goaltending duo this season. Lemieux shows a lot of promise, and is a leader in the locker room just as Princess Celestia is a leader to the rest of the ponies. The two of them are also very mischievous at times - while Princess Celestia likes to disrupt more formal gatherings by inviting people who she believes will cause a ruckus, Lemieux is more likely to throw people off by taking penalties in slow games to make things "more interesting."

Balrog Fuerto - Gilda

Balrog Fuerto is definitely the Gilda of the group. He's disappeared since first joining the Falcons, just as Gilda disappeared for a long time after renouncing her friendship with Rainbow Dash. Hopefully the comparisons will continue, as Gilda later met back up with the other ponies and befriended them once again, but it remains to be seen if Fuerto will ever return and reconcile with the Falcons organization by deciding to train and return to the ice yet again.

Barney Tuzis - Big McIntosh

Barney Tuzis is not someone you see around all that often, preferring to spend his time elsewhere apart from the Detroit locker room, but from time to time when things get really exciting he'll join in on conversations and engage in conversation. Big Mac is the exact same way. He's usually not a pony of many words, preferring instead to let his work do the talking for him. But when he gets excited about something, he'll gladly converse to a much greater extent than normal.

Bastien Salabanzi - Babs Seed

Salabanzi has been a major force for the Falcons this season, being the first defensemen to go in the SMJHL draft. He was a prominent offensive force on the team, putting up huge numbers aside Brandon Girard, before eventually disappearing. Babs Seed is quite similar to him. Babs Seed was very involved when she first came to Ponyville, but eventually moved back to Manahattan, appearing only once since she moved away. Both her cousins and Ponyville and the Detroit Falcons are hoping that Bastien Salabanzi and Babs Seed eventually return.

Bjorn Knutsen - Muffins/Derpy Hooves

Both Bjorn Knusten and Derpy Hooves (originally named Muffins) have both found themselves in similar situations. Derpy Hooves found fame for herself due to her cross-eyed appearance in her first episode, and often shows up as a background character in episodes just because of her popularity. Knutsen has had a similar experience. As someone who has announced his retirement for the end of the season, Knutsen has been at the forefront of many minds, leading the SMJHL in scoring this season, but talked about more because of his major flaw - his retirement. Both have been impossible to separate from the one issue for which they were originally known.

Brandon Girard - Prince Shining Armor

The captain of the Detroit Falcons correlates best to the captain of the Royal Guards in Canterlot. They're both very kind souls, who would give their all in order to protect those they love. Just like Prince Shining Armor, Girard is a leader willing to stand in the way of all those who wish to do harm to his loved ones. While he projects a strong, dominating presence, Girard is actually one of the kindest people you will ever meet on or off the ice.

Clive Stonehands - DJ Pon-3

Stonehands was very flashy when he was around. A very active player, it seemed that there was nothing that could possibly hinder Stonehands' assent to greatness in the SHL one day. Then, when the world needed him most, he vanished. DJ Pon-3 is a little similar in the first part (and Avatar Aang is a little better in the second respect, but that's a whole different show), DJ Pon-3 has a very flashy, very noticeable personality. She shows up at all the parties, always wearing the same sunglasses and headphones while turning tunes for everyone else to enjoy. Stonehands is the perfect parallel for her.

Esa - Granny Smith

While Esa is no longer the GM of the Detroit Falcons today, the foundation he lay has held up strong to be built upon. But he can be compared quite well to Granny Smith. While she's older now and has moved on from her early days in which she played a key role to the founding of Ponyville, she's still a respected member of the society. The same holds true for Esa - while he's no longer at the helm of the Falcons, his work is a big part of why the team continues to dominate, and the respect the team has for him is still undying.

Elvis Libra - Spitfire

Elvis Libra is extremely hard-working, and proves that every night on the ice for the Falcons. With thirty-eight points this season in fifty-two games, he's been a great scorer all year long. Spitfire has a very similar personality to this. She's very strong-willed, always wanting to push herself more and more, and is amazing when it comes to flying - just as Libra dominates on the ice, Spitfire dominates in the sky.

Jasper Clayton - Rainbow Dash

If the British defenseman were to unleash his inner pony, it would definitely be Rainbow Dash that you saw. Just as Clayton dreamed of getting the chance to play for the Detroit Falcons in juniors this season, Rainbow Dash dreamed of getting the opportunity the Wonderbolts, and both were eventually able to achieve those dreams. Rainbow Dash is known for her Sonic Rainboom, in which she breaks the sound barrier, while Clayton is known for making lots of sound by never stopping talking. The two are also very similar in their loyalty. Clayton will always stand up to defend his Queen's country, as well as defend his team, whereas Rainbow Dash is known for her loyalty to all she loves, and towards all she does. The two are also a little strange at times, which makes Rainbow Dash the perfect parallel for Jasper Clayton.

Jyri Jolo - Diamond Tiara

Jyri Jolo never actually showed up, as he decided not to sign (or do anything, for that matter) after being drafted by the Detroit Falcons. Diamond Tiara's personality is quite similar, turning her nose up at everyone else. She doesn't want anything to do with anyone she sees as below her, just as Jolo wanted nothing to do with the SHL. It's impossible to tell what scared off Jolo from spending even another day in the SHL - long enough to sign a contract, but because of that it looks like he's gone for good.

Kaapo Kekkonen - Snips

Snips is never seen without his good friend, Snails. The two of them are often working together, and tend to cause a lot of mischief with one another. Who better to match Snips than Kaapo Kekkonen, the first half of the two twin power forwards on the Detroit Falcons. It's hard to imagine Kekkonen without Pejonis, just as Snips cannot be thought of without Snails.

Lee Bowden - Princess Luna

The other half of the team's goaltending duo means we have the other half of the two royal sisters. While Princess Celestia holds power over the sun, Princess Luna does her work opposite Celestia's, controlling the moon. While Princess Luna went crazy at one point in her life, trying to bring eternal night to all the people, we have to hope that Lee Bowden doesn't go crazy as well. Last thing we need is two crazy goaltenders trying to cause trouble in the locker room.

Mac Hooper - Starlight Glimmer

Starlight Glimmer is the leader of a town for two episodes in the My Little Pony series, but ends up fleeing after a disagreement with her townspeople (specifically, after she is exposed as a fraud). Hooper's experience in the SHL has been quite similar - after joining the Falcons, he just one day decided to leave. It's hard to say why he left, but the Falcons definitely hope that he'll eventually come back - although I doubt that anyone's waiting for Starlight Glimmer to come back.

Michael Burch - Twilight Sparkle

Michael Burch is probably one of the most consistent players on the Falcons this season, in that he is constantly getting better. Twilight Sparkle is the exact same way. While the other ponies always thought that friendship was the most important thing there was, Twilight Sparkle always put studying first. She believed that growing in knowledge, and learning all there was to know was the most important thing she could do for herself. Eventually, she grew to realize that friendship was also important, and dedicated herself to studying friendship. Just as Twilight Sparkle was always growing and becoming ever greater, Burch is the same way. Always pushing himself to get better, pushing himself to be the best player in the league - just as Twilight Sparkle pushes herself to be the greatest pony in Equestria.

Ray Pejonis - Snails

Snails is never seen without his good friend, Snips. These two are almost always portrayed in the My Little Pony multiverse as being together, always at each other's sides. Pejonis is the second of the twin power forwards to show up on our list, and as such he gets the other half of the duo. Kekkonen and Pejonis suffered when they were forced to play apart, and when reunited they shone. Snips and Snails are together so often it's worrisome to think that they one day might be forced to spend time apart. It's the same issue that arises with Kekkonen and Pejonis - what would happen if they ever had to play in different cities?

Ross Burke - Flutteryshy

Burke's inner pony is definitely Fluttershy. Flutteryshy has a really friendly personality, but doesn't often speak up around others. But when she's pushed, she'll stand up for her friends and everything that she believes in. Burke is the exact same way. While he wasn't seen much throughout the beginning of the regular season, he eventually found his stride and is now very active among the rest of the Falcons. While it takes them both a bit to warm up to new people and new surroundings, once these two are behind you then you know that you've got a friend and a partner for life.

Shayne Gow - Soarin

Shayne Gow definitely best fits one of the members of the Wonderbolts, Soarin. Soarin is a stallion who loves to blaze through the clouds, but is generally more easy-going than others around him. Gow is the exact same way. He loves skating circles around people on the ice, and he does that quite well. But when it comes down to it, win or lose, he's going to be one of the most relaxed guys out there. He's not about to get stressed out over anything, just the same way as Soarin.

Tim Tebow - Maud Pie

Both Tebow and Maud Pie are primarily driven by showing their strength, and proving that they can do things that so many others can't. While neither one of them is primarily driven by a need to win, both are self-motivated to prove that they can be one of the strongest there is. Tim Tebow proved this by making the jump from the National Football League into hockey now that he's playing the SMJHL, and Maud Pie aims to prove this through her frequent feats of strength with rocks.

Tommy Creller - Apple Bloom

Apple Bloom stands out for General Manager and Coach Tommy Creller, as both are prominent leaders of their respective organizations. While Creller leads the Falcons, Apple Bloom spends her time leading the Cutie Mark Crusaders. She's also one of the more level-headed ponies, and she's usually able to defuse explosive situations, and resolve them in such a way that they don't spiral out of control. Creller is the same way. When there were issues with one member of the team, and shit was going down, Creller was the one who stepped up and made a speech to the team to make sure that everyone stayed calm, cool, and collected, and it was thanks to him that things did not get any worse than they already had.

Tyson Apostol - Cheerilee

Tyson Apostol has appeared in a few games for the Detroit Falcons this season, but he prefers to spend his time being more of a supporter than an actor. He works hard to make sure that everyone else is doing well, just as Cheerilee works to make sure that everyone can reach their full potential. The two of them work perfectly as parallels to one another - people who prefer to push others to be greater, rather than pushing themselves to the limit.

Vseveolod Nikitin - Pinkie Pie

Here we have the prankster and the partier. Both of them love parties - while Pinkie Pie prefers to plan them and Nikitin prefers to crash them, at least that's one thing you can say the two of them have in common - you'll always find them when there's a party to be had. But perhaps the bigger comparison is the fact that Nikitin loves to pull pranks on the other members of the Falcons. Whether it's changing all the numbers on the practice jerseys to be one number higher, or painting Stonehands' beard in a rainbow of colors, Nikitin has been at the forefront of pranks all year long. He and Pikie Pie would get along quite well together.

Yorgen Bartenberry - Sweetie Belle

Sweetie Belle loves to help out whenever she has the chance, and loves to perform, but if there's other people around you can guess that she'll suddenly grow very shy about her talents. Yorgen Bartenberry is the same way - while he's a rather dominating force on the ice, you won't be seeing him much off the ice. He prefers to practice his talents in secret, and retreats away when there's no games to be had.

Thank you everyone for stopping by to check out which members of the Detroit Falcons best parallel the members of the My Little Pony multiverse. It's been a wild ride playing along these guys all season long, and I'm going to miss the ones end up moving on to play in the SHL next season. It's almost a given that this is the last time we'll be sharing the ice with Brandon Girard and Alex Mack, so best of luck to those two especially as they move on to the next chapter in their careers, as well as to all the other veterans who receive the call to duty in the SHL for the league's twenty-fifth season.

Be sure to keep an eye out for The Falcon's Wing, which will be returning at the conclusion of the SMJHL playoffs with a review of the Falcons' performance in their games this post-season. We will also have a second issue coming out soon thereafter, previewing the draft and taking a look at all of the draft-eligible members of the Detroit Falcons this season.
