- RaiN - 08-29-2015 <div align="center">VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA – – History has shown that when the Vancouver Whalers win the 4-Star Cup, they often repeat this accomplishment. Yet with only 8 games played in the regular season, one word comes to mind to describe the Vancouver Whalers season so far and that word is uncertainty. I say uncertainty because up until this point in the regular season, the Whalers organization was unsure of their finalized roster due to SHL call-up rumours swirling around some of their top players including Patrikov Bure, Zach Hoover, Vlad McZehrl and Geoffrey Allen. All four of these players played a large roll in capturing Vancouver’s 1st 4-Star Cup since the S19 season and 6th 4-Star Cup in franchise history. Everyday, Whaler fans were eagerly listening to TSN radio 1040 to hear whether or not the team would be losing some of the players who helped restore and revive the junior club. The uncertainty also led to distractions amongst some of the players in the Whalers locker room because no one really knew who was staying and who was leaving. Nonetheless, after a Calgary Dragons deal fell through, we quickly learned that the Great McZ would be sent down to Vancouver for one more season of conditioning and development. However, former Whalers Zach Hoover and most recently Geoffrey Allen have both been called up to their respective clubs in the SHL. It is currently an odd feeling to describe in Vancouver right now as fans and players are saddened yet happy for both Hoover and Allen. Although the departure of Hoover and Allen will certainly create gaps with the Whalers forward line-up, it also creates opportunity for young talent to take on a larger roll with the squad in terms of leadership and playing time. Today Vancouver leaves the past in the past and as the cliché saying goes, ‘the show goes on’.
