- Alucard - 11-13-2015 <div align="justify"> Banananov, Prikulis, Vlaters named stars of Week 2 Friday, 13th Nov Hamilton's Vuro Vlaters has maintained his excellent form from week one, and makes the list for the second week in a row. Minnesota Chiefs right winger Chernika Banananov, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Lauris Prikulis, and Hamilton Steelhawks centre Vuro Vlaters have been named the SHL's Three Stars for the week spanning Day 8 through 14 of the regular season. Vlaters beat off stiff competition from Simon Palat of the Texas Renegades (0-8-8 through 4 games), Portland Admirals' Buzz Killington (0-7-7 through 5 games), and Calgary Dragons' Nicholas Pedersen (1-6-7 through 5 games) to name but a few to keep his place on the list from Week 1. And yes, I am fully aware that I just said Vlaters "beat off stiff competition." Whatever you have to do to win, I guess... FIRST STAR – CHERNIKA BANANANOV, RW, MINNESOTA CHIEFS GP: 5, G: 3, A: 5, Pts: 8, +/-: -1 The Minnesota Chiefs won just one of their five games this week, but that didn't stop Banananov racking up the points with eight in just four games, including a four point game in the 5-2 victory over Manhattan. With a +/- of -1 through five games, the Russian winger is showing herself to be a key part of the Chiefs offence, which has also seen a healthy contribution from returning legend David Winter (4-1-5). Minnesota currently occupy the final playoff spot in the East, and they will need Banananov and Winter to continue their current form if they are to fight off the challenge from Buffalo, Toronto, and Manhattan. SECOND STAR – LAURIS PRIKULIS, G, WINNIPEG JETS GP: 4, Save %: .934, GAA: 2.00, Wins: 3 The Winnipeg Jets won all but one of their games this week, and that was due in large part to the continued form of goaltender Lauris Prikulis. The Jets netminder may not have posted a shutout during week 2 (West Kendall's Colin Schmidt kept out Buffalo on Day 9, and Calgary's Hunter Wong added two clean sheets to his career tally), but he had the best GAA of any goaltender in the league, and that with an average of twenty-eight shots per game coming his way. The Latvian has already established himself as one of the SHL's première goaltenders, and his displays in Week 2 have shown why he is such an important player in Winnipeg. THIRD STAR – VURO VLATERS, C, HAMILTON STEELHAWKS GP: 4, G: 5, A: 1, Pts: 6, +/-: 2 Vlaters was top of the list in Week 1, and in Week 2 has shown no signs of slowing down. He single-handedly demolished the New England Wolfpack on Day 8 with a fantastic four goals on seven shots, and that performance alone should be deemed worthy of one of the stars of the week. Two more points against Manhattan (1-1-2) followed, ensuring that the second Latvian on our list remains at the top of both the point scoring and goal scoring lists after Week 2. At the time of writing, Vlaters has nine goals and six assists, meaning that I am quite chuffed at having added him to my fantasy team in place of the under-performing Pierre-Luc Laflamme (sorry Dmoushey)! It was actually pretty difficult to leave Palat out after the week he's had. Who the fuck came up with the three star idea? I'd make it five if that didn't mean more work for me. - linsangeles - 11-14-2015 Thanks for picking me up in your fantasy. You won`t regret. |
