Now that we're 30+ games into season 31, it seems like a good time to start the S30 awards show! So without wasting any more time, let's hop into the Delorean and head back to before this season started and hand out the awards for the SHL's 30th season! - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And what better way to start this awards show than making it about me? As usual, the first award we have tonight is the Challenge Cup, which is awarded to the league's top team at the conclusion of the playoffs. That being said, I'm proud to hand the challenge cup to the captain of the S30 Champion New England Wolfpack, Nathan Russell!! <div align="center"></div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And of course to have a Challenge Cup champion, we have to have conference champions! The winners of the Cole Reinhart trophy this season for winning the West were the Edmonton Blizzard! And taking home the Mathias Chouinard for the Eastern Conference champions, of course we have the New England Wolfpack! <div align="center"> </div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And then we have the President's Trophy, which goes each season to the team that has the best regular season record. The most impressive team in the 30th season was the Western Conference's Calgary Dragons! <div align="center"></div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 Before we move on to the stat-based awards, we have one thing to note here. This season, the Vidrik Onoprienko Lifetime Achievement Award has not been awarded, so our program will conclude with the awarding of the Ron Mexico for League MVP. - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 First up we have the Mike Honcho trophy, which is given to the goaltender with the lowest GAA in the regular season. This year, the award goes to Brett Broadway who led the Edmonton Blizzard to an extremely impressive showing last season! Congratulations, Broadway! <div align="center"></div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 Moving on, we have the Jay McDonald for the league's leader in goals! No contest this year as his uncontested performance turned Manhattan into a contender almost singlehandedly. This year's McDonald winner is. . .VLAD McZehrl! <div align="center"></div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And then we have the Sergei Karpotsov, given to the league's regular season points leader. This year the award was won by not one, but two players! Our first winner, from the Manhattan Rage, yet again it's VLAD McZehrl! And, still in the Eastern Conference, he shares this honor with the the Minnesota Chiefs' own Chernika Banananov! <div align="center"> </div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And of course, we have everyone's favourite award - the Turd Ferguson! This award is granted every year to the player with the most PIMs in the regular season. In S30, this guy truly lived up to his name - bringing home the Turd Ferguson is Winnipeg's Big Manious! <div align="center"></div> - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 Alright let's move on past the stat-based awards now to the ones that are actually a surprise! - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 First up, the John McBride! This is given each season to the league's top goaltender! This year's nominees are: From the Calgary Dragons, Hunter Wong! From the New England Wolfpack, Jakob Tanner! And, from the Edmonton Blizzard, Brett Broadway! - Eggy216 - 10-26-2016 And the winner of the McBride for S30 is. . . |
