- ArGarBarGar - 12-20-2016 So I have finished calculating the legacy scores for all skaters who have won some sort of award. Going to the goaltenders and I am currently unsure if the legacy chart that I am using will accurately show which goaltenders are better than others (at least to a point). This is the current way I have each award and their impact on the overall score. Reg. Ssn. Wins 1 Playoff Wins 1.5 1st All-Star 40 2nd All-Star 20 3rd All-Star 10 All-Rookie 10 Ron Mexico 150 Sarmad Khan 150 John McBride 100 Anton Razov 90 Challenge Cup 80 Mike Honcho 70 Ryan Jesster 60 Damian Littleton 40 With this score, I have Lauris Prikulis at 1572, Jakob Tanner at 1020, Jordin FourFour at 1175, Jakub Aittokallio at 1392, and John McBride at 1396. Now I am not sure if I put Prikulis THAT far above everyone else, especially a guy like McBride who won 6 McBride trophies, but I am curious what others would think. Considering I am not a big goalie guy, I am unsure if I am putting the right weight into certain categories. - Schultzy - 12-20-2016 I feel like the cup and playoff wins are being slightly undervalued. That's the ultimate prize and should be the measure of a great goaltender. Playoff Wins 1.5 -> 2 Cup 80 -> 120 - ArGarBarGar - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Schultzy@Dec 20 2016, 08:18 PMI can see bumping up playoff wins because they aren't going to tip the scales too heavily, but I am not sure about cups going up 40 per. Maybe bumping cups to 100? - Wally - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Schultzy@Dec 20 2016, 06:18 PM 100% agree with this... especially with the precedent on raising the cup weight. - Schultzy - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by ArGarBarGar@Dec 20 2016, 07:26 PMShould be at least worth what the McBride is if not more imo. - TheLastOlympian07 - 12-20-2016 tanner sucks. im ok with this - Possum Queen - 12-20-2016 Cup should be worth more so nobody figures out I'm shit kthx - JumpierPegasus - 12-20-2016 Mike Honcho still the best peak of any SHL goaltender, hands down - Tomen - 12-20-2016 I guess maybe adding some records to that would also help to distinguish the great from the good ones since the records have been recently updated. - ArGarBarGar - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Tomen@Dec 20 2016, 09:12 PMLike what records? - Tomen - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by ArGarBarGar@Dec 21 2016, 02:26 AMSave Percentage and maybe Shutouts there also is technically GAA but I wouldn't count that one. - Eggy216 - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Tomen@Dec 20 2016, 09:31 PM Might those be too fluid to factor in? Does a goalie lose the points when he loses the record? - Tomen - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Eggy Nog@Dec 21 2016, 02:38 AM Might be the case but then again the records are separated by eras so only 5 goalies could lose points. - ArGarBarGar - 12-20-2016 Quote:Originally posted by Tomen@Dec 20 2016, 09:31 PMThere isn't enough of a gap between most goaltenders to where save percentage would matter. I think I will bump playoff wins to 2 and Challenge Cup wins to 100 and call it a day. - InciteHysteria - 12-20-2016 I think it's unfair to weight cups that highly. Some of the best players in sports have never reached the goal of taking the championship. Winning a cup is the ultimate team achievement. I think playoffs and cups should count ultimately towards the ranking of players. But I don't think they should be weighted as heavily as personal achievements. I know some will argue that everything a goaltender does is a team achievement. But when you have a guy facing 25 shots on average and winning a cup against a guy who faces an average of 35 shots and comes up short in the previous round. I can't exactly say the best goalie won the cup. |
