Hey everyone,
Considering that I just was chosen as the new Head GM for the Colorado Mammoths. I will be opening applications to people on the site to "show me what they've got".
So, I as a person am pretty flexible and think I'm quite friendly. I would like someone who fits that bill too and isn't well known as a shit-stirrer on the site. I don't need lots of experience (or really any at all). I would just like someone who is friendly and wants to learn. Activity is a huge must for me, but not so much in the day-to-day maintanence with the team. I am fine doing the mechanical parts of Colorado, if you want to pitch in and take some of those responsiblities - well I'll certainly not complain. But I am looking for someone who likes interacting with people. I will mostly be asking you to be a face for Colorado. Mingle with the rookies, open conversations with them and don't be afraid to sit down with the new members of the team and give them a "how to update your player" seminar.
I want someoe who wants to send me a few messages a day at least and let me know what they're thinking about the team. What they think could be changed for the better. What they see on the horizon for players to pick.
I know this feels very specific but I would like to find someone that fits the bill and will work well with me. So here are a few things that are a mest for the future Co-GM of Colorado.
Respectful - Not of just me but of everyone on the site. Just because we're all on a computer doesn't mean you have to act like a jackass. Have a little decorum. Friendliness gets you places.
Committed - Colorado has been a team punctuated with short tenures. The team has went through quite a few tumultuous times. I want this team to have stability with a GM in place for a long while and I'd like to develop a relationship with my Co-GM that lasts. Colorado has struggled because it's never had a singular vision stick around for more than two seasons. I want this team to be special. Not only winning games but as a place people want to play for because the GMs are nice and helpful and they've heard the locker room is an active and fun place.
Fun - Part of building our excellent locker room culture is bringing a lot of entertainment and levity to the room. I want someone that wants to be part of that fun and finds interacting with newer players as a great experience. We like to joke around in Colorado. We would hope you would like that as well.
Time Difference - I guess I should note this as well. I won't discount someone because they are outside of the USA/Canada region but I would prefer someone be within 2-3 hours of me. Being farther than that apart can cause some real problems communicating. So please consider this when you apply. If you think it wouldn't be a problem for you - well note it in your application. Keep in mind that I am actually in Colorado. So I am MST (GMT-6).
I know this application might seem daunting to some. I might come across as being too specific or wanting too much. I am not discounting anyone and hope to hear from ANYONE that is interested. This post is only serious because Colorado deserves only the best from it's GMs. I want this team to be like a family. So please, don't be nervous. I am an easy person to get along with, I promise. There are no questions for my application because I don't want you to feel forced to answer something. I want you to write and show me what you'd bring to the team. Be yourself. Open up if you feel like doing so.
