- Banjo - 08-07-2017 It was a night full of anxiety and excitement for young defenseman Ben Turska. "I could barely breathe" Turska said. "Honestly, I had no clue when I was going to be selected." Turska added that he had read that he could go as high as the end of the first round, and as low as the end of the second round. Those predictions seemed accurate, as Turska went 12th overall to the Los Angeles Panthers. So just how did Turska feel about being selected by the Panthers? He did not hold back in making it known that Los Angeles was a preferred choice. "I would have been really happy wherever I ended up, and I mean that...but there was something about Los Angeles that interested me more than any other team," Turska said. Maybe it was the bright lights of Los Angeles, maybe it was the culture of being a Panther. Whatever it was, Turska knows he is going to be a part of something special. Turska takes the ice in his Panthers jersey for the first time. The connection between Turska and the Panthers goes deeper than many might realize. Longtime general manager of the Panthers, Niclas Wastlund, was a teammate of Ben's father, Jackson Turska. "That was a special moment, not only for me, but for my dad." said Turska. "He walked up to him after the draft and expressed his gratitude for taking on a chance on drafting me." The Panthers have a lot to be excited about. Draftees Yuri Boyka Jr., drafted 13th overall, and Mark Ruggeri, drafted 38th overall, are expected to make big contributions in the future. "I connected with those guys right away. We are definitely going to share a special bond throughout our careers, and I hope that it can be with the Panthers for a long time." The Milwaukee boy is now in Detroit after being traded from the Montreal Militia to the Detroit Falcons, but the young defenseman can't wait for that call up to the bigs. "My time with the Falcons is going to be great, but I am going to work towards that ultimate goal of making it to the team that had faith in drafting me. They won't be disappointed when that time comes." - NYRangers - 08-07-2017 Happy to have you on the team! - CFJ - 08-07-2017 I'm hoping the vets on LAP can keep Tuska on his feet with the Party life over there - vbottas17 - 08-07-2017 Happy that we were able to draft you Banjo! - daBenchwarmer - 08-07-2017 panthers turska is kind of okay - 701 aka YUNG GUAP GOD - 08-07-2017 Quote:Originally posted by Crossfit Jesus@Aug 7 2017, 09:48 PMI can't play hockey, but I can party. - daBenchwarmer - 08-08-2017 Quote:Originally posted by 701 aka YUNG GUAP GOD@Aug 7 2017, 11:09 PM debatable - WannabeFinn - 08-08-2017 ur all mine now bby - Bishop - 08-08-2017 Awesome to have on the team!! - Wasty - 08-08-2017 Love this article!
