- Jearim - 05-06-2018 As we quickly approach the SHL draft we will take a quick look at the top 10 rookies. With just over 40 rookies to choose from, here are the top 10. Ten - Rahotep Tutankhamun (MTL) 50 GP - 9 goals - 8 Assists - 17 Points Nicknamed “King Tut”, Rahotep had a very good first season in SMJHL. His 9 goals and 17 points were tenth best on a Montreal team that was full of rookies. He was the third highest scoring rookie on the team. He shot just over 27%. “King Tut” also had some power play time scoring 3 of his 9 goals on the power play. Nine- Logan Crosby (PGF) 50 GP - 10 Goals - 7 Assists - 17 Points Crosby logged under 1000 minutes played this season and made the most of his time. Logan sat 8th on Prince George with 17 points. 10 Goals was the second highest on the team. His 3 power play points sits him in the middle of team power play points. Eight - Kristaps Ball (VAN) - 50 GP - 11 Goals - 7 Assists - 18 Points Ball was 1 of 8 players under 20 points. 3 of his 11 goals were on the power play. Second highest scoring rookie player on the Vancouver roster. Ball had 27 hits and shot just over 15%. His Power play time yielded 4 points. Seven - Muhammad McLovin (PGF) 50 GP - 7 Goals - 13 Assists - 20 Points McLovin had great rookie season. The Prince George forward was only one of two rookies with 20 or more points. He also sat 7th in Power play points with 1 goal and 4 assists. Six - Alex Andani (VAN) 50 GP - 5 Goals - 16 Assists - 21 Points Alex tops the bottom half of our top 10 with 21 points. The top rookie scorer on the Vancouver roster, Alex was a solid playmaker with 16 assists. Although his power play time only yielded 3 points, he was a solid five on five player. Just under 900 minutes of play time and a shooting percentage of 10.42%, he is a solid prospect. Five - Daniel Daniil (MTL) 50 GP - 8 Goals - 13 Assists - 21 Points. Daniil had a solid 21 point season. Third highest rookie scorer on Montreal, Daniil had 21 points even though he had little to no power play time. A solid all around player he can both score and pass. Good vision and hockey sense. Daniil is a solid pick for top 5. Four - Piotr Czerkawski (MTL) 50 GP - 11 Goals - 12 Assists - 23 Points. Known as the Polish Train, Czerkawski has had a very solid campaign. One of the only rookies to have double digits in goals and assists, he also had 36 hits and 11.00% shooting. Only 4 power play points, most came from five on five. Using his size and strength he has been a solid forward for a team with 8 rookies on the roster. Three - Steve McGirthensons (PGF) - 50 GP - 9 Goals - 15 Assists - 24 Points As we enter the top three, McGirthensons was pretty impressive this season. Second in points on Prince George, This rookie shows a lot of potential. 8 power play points and 24 points total. His ability to find players and get them the puck makes him a great playmaker. Two - Flacko Lagerfield (DET) 50 GP - 14 Goals - 11 Assists - 25 Points The highest Goal scoring rookie this season, Lagerfield had a great season. Not only did he score 14 Goals and 25 points, but his Detroit Falcons also made their way to the SMJHL finals. 7 power play points, 33 hits and 16.87% shooting. The team that drafts Lagerfield would be getting a great talent. One - Dayymo Ralchankinov (MTL) 50 GP - 9 Goals - 23 Assists - 32 Points. Dayymo’s season was a fantastic one. One of the reasons Montreal made the playoffs was this impressive rookie. 32 points lead all rookies by 7 points. a solid playmaker, Ralchankinov was great on the Power play with 11 points, He also has one shorthanded point. Dayymo is a great addition to a team looking for a natural playmaker. Just missing the cut: Defensman Daniel Karlsson had 15 points in 50 Games. 6 Power play points, 37 hits, and just under 10% shooting, a solid defensman, a good pick.
