World Junior Championship Roundup + Presser - Carbine - 07-17-2018
The latest edition of the WJC concluded late Sunday night with the combined nations of Russia, Czechoslovakia, and Latvia taking the Gold in a decisive victory over Team Canada.
The tournament came together a lot slower than it should have this season and as Commissioner, I have to take responsibility for that. I didn't use the resources at my disposal and the tourney suffered. I plan to not let this happen again so long as I am Commissioner of the WJC.
With that said, I can't thank my Head Office enough for the work they did in preparing the eligible player list, selecting GMs and handling the problems as they arose throughout the Tourney. @jcfbey01 and @Chris-McZehrl were fantastic as the GM liaisons as we sorted out the rule sets and eligible players leading up to the tourney. @artermis picked me up when I simply couldn't find the time to get the show on the road and is one of the main reasons we were able to get this done before the start of the regular season (I am in your debt, sir.) And @FlappyGiraffe continued to be the silent but wise Discord overlord that I don't deserve. His input was invaluable when dealing with a particularly sticking situation that arose during the tourney and saved us a lot of time and effort had we approached the situation differently. I thank you again for your work this season.
Finally, I want to recognize the person who was the driving force behind this tourney being played out this offseason. He was a late addition to the Head Office after it became apparent I wouldn't be able to sim the tourney as initially expected, and he absolutely blew me out of the water with the work he put it to make sure we got this done in a timely fashion. @hockeyfan, you've earned every cent of your simmer pay this tourney and I cannot thank you enough for your efforts this season. Your Play by Play of the Gold Medal game wasn't at all part of your job description and you absolutely killed it. Bravo good sir, I hope we can count on your services next season.
So, with all that said, I'd like to make myself (and anyone in HO who decides to chime in) open to questions regarding the WJC this season and general questions related to the WJC.

I really enjoyed doing it, and appreciate the nice words @Carbine. Would love to do it again next season and help build it up to something bigger and better!

Rookie GMs. I never GMed before, Geck never did in this league. We are rookie GMs

I’m not terribly surprised given the star power that UCORCAL had at its disposal, but STHS is a fickle beast. Make your lines incorrectly, and you may not win a single game.
