Scarecrows S43 Draft Results - Muerto - 08-28-2018 ST. LOUIS SCARECROWS DRAFT RESULTS The end of Season 42 might have been disappointing for the St. Louis Scarecrows as they missed the playoffs, but it was only the beginning for their crop of rookies. A contingent of 10 rookies in total headed to the Big Apple for the SHL Draft, to see where and when they would be selected. Obviously SHL GMs liked what they saw from the STL team as almost every player increased their stock in the Draft, including 4 selected in the first round! It turned out to be an exciting night all around, and when all was said and done, here are the results of the Draft for the Crows! S43 SHL Draft -------------- *** 1st RD -------------- 5th OV : Goku Muerto Drafted by : San Francisco Pride   SMJHL Draft: 5th OV (--) Jersey Number: 71 Height (ft.): 6' 1" Weight (lbs.): 198 Birthplace: Reykjavik, Iceland Player Type: Playmaker Strengths: Passing, Skating, Puck Handling Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 6G 16A 22P -8 15 PIM *10 PPA Scouting: The first Crow taken off the board, Muerto projects to be a top line Center in the SHL. The Muerto Management team has a solid record of developing top-end talent, and it is extremely likely that Goku will be no exception. One of the fastest Skaters in the SMJHL, he uses his speed and vision to create offensive chances for his linemates. 6th OV : Lil' Manius Drafted by : Winnipeg Jets   SMJHL Draft: 25th OV (+19) Jersey Number: 77 Height (ft.): 5’ 6” Weight (lbs.):182 Birthplace: Onchiota, NY Player Type: Two-Way Forward Strengths:  Scoring, Defense, Puck handling Weakness: Strength S43 Stats: 6G 6A 12P -11 32PIM *95 Hits Scouting: Despite being the smallest player on the ice, Lil' is a terror who blazes around hitting anything that moves. He heads to Winnipeg where his father spent his entire career, although the two are very different players. Lil' will be a responsible two-way forward with a nasty edge, and will project to be a top player who can handle his business at both ends of the ice. 9th OV : Kiko Rytmeyr Drafted by : Texas Renegades   SMJHL Draft: 45th (+36) Jersey Number: 44 Height: 6ft 1in Weight: 210 Birthplace: Ireland Player Type: Offensive Defenseman Strengths: Scoring, Skating, Puck Handling Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 7G 16A 23P -17 16PIM *14PPP Scouting: Kiko displayed his outstanding ability to create offense from the blue line, especially on the powerplay. A player in the same mold as SHL stars Zander Rhys or Wyatt Wollker, his booming shot will terrorize goaltenders. Texas is stoked to bring in heir future franchise defender here, he will be a great addition to their squad. 14th OV : Nicky Pedersen Jr. Drafted by : Calgary Dragons   SMJHL Draft: 31st (+17) Jersey Number: 9 Height (ft.): 6'4 Weight (lbs.): 230 Birthplace: Ridgebury, CT Player Type: Two-Way Forward Strengths: Scoring, Defense, Skating Weakness: Strength S43 Stats: 8G 8A 16P -8 30PIM *92 HIT Scouting: Another son of an SHL great, Nicky is the complete package with size, skill, and vision. He hits, he scores, he does it all. Calgary just keeps getting stronger, and he will no doubt add to the Pedersen legacy in Cowtown. -------------- *** 2nd RD -------------- 22nd OV : Nicholas Williams Drafted by : Winnipeg Jets   SMJHL Draft: 41st (+19) Jersey Number: 73 Height: 6ft 2in Weight: 207 lbs Birthplace: United States Player Type: Two-Way Forward Strengths: Scoring, Defense, Skating Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 10G 12A 22P -1 12PIM *.72 P/20 Scouting: Williams showed great dedication to his game, another two-way guy with remarkable ability to create and finish around the net. A tremendous LR presence, he joins Manius in Winnipeg and will project to be a top player to fill in the roles as the Jets' squad of superstars wind down their careers. -------------- *** 3rd RD -------------- 29th OV : Steven Moyer Drafted by : Edmonton Blizzard   SMJHL Draft: F/A Signing Jersey Number: 23 Height: 6ft 5in Weight: 215 lbs Birthplace: Canada Player Type: Playmaker Forward Strengths: Passing, Puck Handling, Face Offs Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 4G 8A 12P -10 19PIM *Highest Drafted FA Scouting: Moyer was a post-draft addition to the Crows, but he hit the ground running and did not relent. His continuous improvement combined with a positive public image saw his draft stock shoot up as the season progressed. Edmonton is thrilled to bring in a playmaking center with amazing vision and excellent passing ability, he could very well be their next superstar! 36th OV : Adam Taylor Drafted by : Edmonton Blizzard   SMJHL Draft: 47th (+11) Jersey Number: 13 Height: 5ft 10in Weight: 185 lbs Birthplace: United States Player Type: Playmaker Forward Strengths: Passing, Skating, Puck Handling Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 9G 14A 23P -8 13PIM *103 SHT Scouting: Joining Moyer in Edmonton is Adam Taylor, another playmaker who was the top rookie scorer for the Crows last season. he will bring a ton of creative offensive talent to the team and will no doubt feature heavily in Edmonton's future. -------------- *** 4th RD -------------- 45th OV : Aleister Cain Drafted by : Edmonton Blizzard   SMJHL Draft: 87th (+42) Jersey Number: 28 Height: 5ft 9in Weight: 160 lbs Birthplace: United States Player Type: Hybrid Goalie Strengths: Reaction Time, Hand Speed, Agility Weakness: Size S43 Stats: 1W 1L .875 SV% 3.36 GAA *100% PS Scouting: The Blizzard stick with the STL theme here taking the 3rd Crow in a row. Aleister was the biggest pleasant surprise of S42 - he only played 2 games but he is beloved in the LR, always bringing a ton of fun and excitement to those around him, and the Blizzard are stoked to have their future starter here. 56th OV : Helmuts Akmenlauks Drafted by : Calgary Dragons   SMJHL Draft: 63rd (+7) Jersey Number: 96 Height (ft.): 6'8'' Weight (lbs.): 250 Birthplace: Latvia Player Type: Two-Way Defenseman Strengths: Scoring, Defense, Puck Handling Weakness: Checking S43 Stats: 4G 7A 11P -3 16PIM *4G at EV Scouting: Helmuts was a bit of a late bloomer but he has been showing great progress, and a surprising offensive touch from the blue line, scoring more even-strength goals than any other Crows defender, despite limited ice time.
