Threat Level Midnight 2: Michael Scarn to Colorado - Trautner - 12-21-2018 Double media draft bonus Michael Scarn never imagined he’d end up like this. After saving the entire arena full of fans and hockey stars in the NHL All Star Game, Agent Scarn thought he could enjoy retirement knowing that Goldenface was dead. He thought he could enjoy a nice glass of scotch by fireplace every night as he tells the famed story Threat Level Midnight. But life is not always a fairytale, and special agent Michael Scarn can never rest easy. Because that simply just is not who he is. This is the tale of Michael Scarn’s journey to Colorado and the SMJHL. This is Threat Level Midnight Part 2. Entering the Season 45 SMJHL Draft, Michael Scarn was known for his fast skating abilities and thunderbolt of a shot. He also carries around a unique hockey stick, a mop given to him by the late great hockey guru Cherokee Jack. Scarn looked to prove himself at the SMJHL combine several days before the draft. Going up against top forwards like Olivier Cloutier and Borromini Cannellini, Scarn had his work cut out for him to become a first round pick. He would have to have a performance for the ages to wow the scouts and earn himself not just a spot, but valuable playing time on an SMJHL roster. The combine was rough and tough on Scarn. Especially the prospect showcase, which took place over the course of several days. While Scarn was able to rack up points, with 41 points in the showcase in 36 games played, good for 3rd overall among all centers in the showcase, his team, the Outlaws, nearly finished in last. Scarn finished with a +/- of -19. It was a poor showing for the team, and Scarn felt defeated. Then, a beacon of hope: there was one final drill to be run, and it was a simple skate off in the rink around a circle. Scarn knew that this was one drill that he would not be beat at, and one drill where teammates like formx couldn’t let drag his team down. Scarn sped through each drill, and made it to the finals. Then, when the firing gun went off for the drill, Scarn glanced over and met his destiny. How could it be? Goldenface was alive? Michael Scarn could have sworn that he had killed the nefarious villain when the hockey puck exploded in Goldenface’s hands years ago. And this all seemed awfully familiar to Agent Scarn. Nevertheless, Scarn took out his gun and started firing back. Back and forth the two lifelong enemies battled, dodging bullets while skating towards the finish line to claim SMJHL glory. Goldenface bumped Scarn, and Scarn bumped right back. But, in the end, both lost to Nikolai Evans, who crossed the line first while the other two were distracted with one another. Scarn felt distraught. While he learned from the mistakes of his rage of strangling the Mexican skater who beat him last time with an American flag, he felt the need to prove himself. So Scarn took his anger out in the gym, training long and hard to become the best prospect he could be even after the combine. He lifted more weights than he had ever done in the past. He looked to improve upon the flimsy 45 Strength that he had. And it worked. Scarn now has 52 Strength. Scarn trained long and hard. Some mock drafts had him going in the first round. Others, in the second round. And others, not in either round. But it didn't matter to Scarn. He knew Goldenface was out there, and it would only be a matter of time before he showed up again. And on draft night, Colorado called his phone. Agent Scarn picked up and answered. It was the President. “You have a new mission, Agent Scarn,” the President confirmed. Agent Scarn didn’t need to think twice. He packed his skates, gloves, and helmet, and went on Expedia to book a one-way ticket to Colorado. It was time to take the ice.
