IIHF Expansion Announcement - artermis - 02-28-2019

We received a total of 9 applications for 6 nations, and an unprecedented amount of them were of incredibly high quality, as such sifting through them and getting acquainted took some time.

After some intense deliberation though (that was a lot of fun, might I add) we have selected our two nations and their respective Federation Heads.

The nations were the easy part. Two nations have consistently been popular unassigned nations and often have a group of supporters demanding an expansion team, but selecting who to represent them was difficult.

Without further ado, the IIHF will be adding the following two nations starting S46 tourney ...

Representing these two nations as they make their debut are:

@O4L for Team Japan!

@Segi for Team Switzerland!


Thank you so much for all those that applied, it was a fun process that really showed how much some people care about international hockey here.

Keep an eye on the transfer thread (going up soon) to see what these new teams will be up to.

All unassigned players of these two nations will automatically be assigned to their birth nation, as well as all transferred inactives automatically transferring back to these nations.

Transferred actives will be contacted with the option to transfer and instructions shortly.

If the nations still have less than 10 players, they will be allotted additional assigned transfers to get to 10, from there the roster will be filled with inactives until reaching the roster minimum.

All nations losing players will be reimbursed with an additional assigned transfer for each player lost.

I apologize it seemed that way. We came to these conclusion quite unanimously after our two days of discussion and feel good with these selections.
