Detroit Co-GM Announcement - notorioustig - 04-27-2019
First off, I'd like to thank all of the applicants who reached out to me about filling grok's vacant Co-GM position. We had some big shoes to fill and received some very strong and a couple of very unexpected applications that definitely forced me to put a lot of time and effort into thinking this decision over.
For the first time in a very long time, Detroit will be filling a GM position with someone from outside the organization. I still believe very strongly in our policy of developing managerial talent internally and am working with two interns at the moment to position us for the future. However, the strengths and experience of our new Co-GM are so great that I saw an opportunity to add someone that can not only be a massive help to our team on an organizational level, but also push me to develop further as a GM. He won a string of Four Star Cups as a GM himself, was known as a strong negotiator, and is a strong tactician. I plan on leaning on his experience quite heavily, and I know that he'll be a perfect fit culturally as well.

and a -5 goal differential, I understand hiring from the outside.
Reminds me of that situation with Eddie Johnston and the Pittsburgh Penguins with the Hartford Whalers back in the late 80s early 90s
