Team British Isles WJC Captains announcement - Fordyford - 05-28-2019

For many, the playoffs have ended, and while we congratulate Montreal and whoever wins game 7 of Anaheim vs St Louis on reaching the final, we at team British Isles (the conglomerate of team GB and team Ireland Ireland

) need to look forward to WJCs this offseason, a tournament that as ever, we seek to win, replicating the success of the IIHF teams of both our nations (Season 40 was the last season the IIHF wasn't won by either team UK (now GB) or Ireland, when team UK came runner up to team USA)

So, we will be announcing a team in the coming days (if anyone wants to transfer to us right now feel free - also anyone who wants to be on the team & is active, join the WJC discord so I can check that you are in the team - we still have slots to fill), but first, as no doubt many are aware, we have many senior players this season who will be taking their roles as Captains and Alternate Captains. We will be announcing those players today.

Now, without further ado, we would like to announce our first Alternate. Hailing from Ireland, he has had an excellent sophomore season for the Anaheim Outlaws, and as ever, we look forward having him on our squad.

It is of course the elite defenseman COREY KENNEDY @SDCore

The second alternate for this year's tournament is a player who has just finished his final season in the SMJHL, starting it with the Halifax raiders before being transferred to the Vancouver Whalers to try and get a cup. He's dedicated to the UK, and will be a crucial piece in the forward lines for us this season.

Jimmy Slothface @slothfacekilla is our guy to wear the second A

Finally, Maybe our most key piece. A stalwart on the blue line, and a true leader, this player has enough experience to tear apart any team he comes up against. Rest of the world beware, an elite defenseman is coming to tear up your shit.

Wearing the C will be Dominic Montgomery @bilbo
