Anaheim Outlaws - S47 SMJHL Champs - SDCore - 06-03-2019 I am writing this to inform the league that the Anaheim Outlaws won the SMJHL championship. Despite finishing in 5th place during the regular season the Anaheim Outlaws decided it was their time. Anaheim was like Thomas the train engine, we just kept chugging along, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. Well guess what??? We did. Beating that other "expansion" team the Lethbridge Lions in a Sweep. Get those brooms out Luffy, @TnlAstatine . That was the easiest round we had. We vanquished them with little to no effort. Starting that series off with a 5-1 win, the Lions made their best effort in the next game taking us to Overtime, but alas it was not enough. We then continued our stomping of them, by winning the next 3 games to complete that sweep. Then the real challenge started. We would be up against the 3-time defending champions, the St. Louis Scarecrows. St. Louis proved to be a tough opponent as they quickly came out to a 2-0 lead. Anaheim however, undeterred decided to have a good home stand against the defending champs, winning both home games to tie the series at 2. In an overtime thriller Anaheim went up in the series 3-2. The Scarecrows were not going to give up however, as they pushed the series to 7 games. This was expected from such a good team in St Louis. We never thought they were going to give up and die, and they didn’t. Anaheim however, prevailed in game 7 to get to their first Four Star Cup finals in their short history. Being the better expansion team, Anaheim reached the finals in just their third year. Led by a stacked 1st and 2nd line and close to 5 capped defenders, our hopes were high. The Anaheim Outlaws were looking at facing the Montreal Militia in the S47 Four Star Cup. This was a big deal, as Montreal was the team to boot them from the playoffs last year, unceremoniously. We in the Anaheim locker room were extremely excited at the opportunity. The Four Star Cup lived up to the hype surrounding it. As Montreal got the early lead in game one by dominating the Outlaws 7-5. Anaheim was quick to answer back with a 5-3 win of their own in game two, splitting the series in Montreal. Coming back to Anaheim the Outlaws were buzzing. Getting a game 3 win to go up in the series, but losing game 4, neither team giving an inch. We are now going to affectionately call game 4 #PBPGATE. As game 4 approached the PBP announcers were nowhere to be seen. Having Anaheim players agitated. This allowed them to lose focus and play two bad games back to back going down in the series 3-2. #PBPGATE almost drove this Anaheim team off the rails. Fortunately, for them they corrected the ship by winning a BIG game 6 in overtime in Anaheim. Game 7 was played overnight, as there had been another conspiracy in the PBP announcers, as it seemed like Montreal was reeling and trying to get into the Outlaws heads. Never the less Anaheim started slow, but by the third period Anaheim had all but secured the Four Star Cup. That people is how Anaheim became the champions this year, even though everyone doubted them. WEEE AAARREEE THHHEE CHHAAAMPPPIIOOONSSS!!
