Noah Brusky on his SMJHL Registration - BrewskyBoy - 06-05-2019 FIRST ARTICLE POST (ready for grading) (new to the league and an awful writer, so go easy on me here. I'm just in it for the sweet sweet TPE) Not long ago, the young defenseman Noah Brusky was contemplating hanging up the skates for good. After suffering a devastating leg injury in a freak bicicyling incident, he had many doubts about if he had what it would take to play professional hockey. The doctors told him that it was highly unlikely that he'd ever be able to play hockey again. He underwent numerous surgeries and multiple rehab assignments and eventually was back out on the ice skating. While his defensive ability was strong, he knew his skating speed was not what it used to be before the accident. As the days went on, he began to fall deeper and deeper into a depressed state, knowing that his hockey days were likely over. That all changed when the fire nation attacked he stumbled upon a recruitment letter from the commissioner of the SHL. The league had heard of his playing ability and his accident, yet still wanted to see if he would register for the upcoming SMJHL draft. Without hesitation, he phoned the league and began the registration process. Now, with only a few days until the draft and with the prospects tournament looming, Brusky is ready to prove to the league just what he's capable of. We had a chance to sit down and speak with him earlier this morning. Reporter: Tonight, you'll be on the ice playing the game you love for the first time since your accident. What's going through your head right now? Brusky: It's a whirlwind of emotions right now. To have come this far and to be hours away from stepping back onto the ice with a team is an unreal feeling. I don't even know where to begin. I just want to get out there and do what I can to impress the scouts and to help my team win. Reporter: Is there any particular team that you're hoping to get drafted by this weekend? Brusky: I'd be grateful to be drafted by any team. A year ago, I would have laughed in your face at just the thought of being in this position today. But to even be on this stage and to have a chance at continuing my playing career with any of these teams.. wow. Reporter: You've admitted that your skating ability isn't what it used to be. With such an injury in your past, why should any team take a gamble on drafting you? Brusky: I've busted my ass off to get back into playing form. Each and every day, I can feel myself progressing. There's no shortage of will and determination with me. Any team that decides to take a flyer on me in the draft will be getting one helluva player, as I always put the team first and will do anything and everything it takes to help bring them a championship. Reporter: Unfortunately, that's all the time we have for today. Thank you for your time this morning. Best of luck to you in the prospects tournament and at the draft this weekend, we hope to talk to you again afterwards. Brusky: Thank you, it was my pleasure.
