Halifax Raiders all time Draft Results and Analysis
#1

I wanted to put together an all time list of Raiders Draftees, and then potentially compare draft seasons to see the difference between seasons, top picks in x round, and best picks overall.
Some of these earlier picks I don't know about and as long as the bojo box is down I don't think I can compare points for the older members, so It's going to be a bit of an objective list (my favorites).
If you want to oblige me I'd love some discussion on some of the earlier players.
As Indexes on the site start at S43, I'm may do stats on the drafted players starting with that season of draft picks, we'll see if I have enough energy for that.

The season with the largest amount of picks is Season 30, and Season 45. Both with 13 prospects added to the team.
The season with the least amount of picks is Season 31 AND 33 - that is a rough 3 seasons, with only 1 prospect added to the team.
A total of 162 players have been drafted by the raiders
The average amount of picks per season is 6.48
Season 42 had 4! first round picks.
Players who have had the pleasure of being drafted 1oa by Halifax include: Able Skinner, Esa Parmborg, Rainbow Dash, Felix Herzog. I have no idea how Felix's career ended up, but because both Esa and Able are on the newer end I will give the best of the best, the top 1oa pick in Raiders history goes to Rainbow Dash. I expect Esa is going to be hot on the heels for this milestone however.

Now what I wanted to do originally was to figure out who the best player from each round was. Deeper drafts, and later rounds are going to have less competition, but that is part of what makes this fun, debating the best of the top!
Best Objective Player taken per round:
Round 13 - Nero Slater
Round 12 - Dylan Karlsson
Round 11 - Blake Fenrir, Yung Javi
Round 10 - Hogan Miller, Erik Nystrom, Pj Paradise

Round 7 - Xavier Barkov, Troy Lizben, Solaire Azarov, Jack Grey, Oliviz Klozoff, Montek Ramrap, James Johnson, Thomas Speardane, Monty Montgomery, Viel Veelio, Izzy Dudemiester

Round 13 - Nero Slater: With the only 13th round pick in Raider history, this is an easy choice
Round 12 - Dylan Karlsson: Same as above, the only 12 round pick in history. S45 was a very deep draft.
Round 11 - Blake Fenrir: We have 2in this round. Fenrir has a cooler name and was before a league expansion so his overall was quite a bit lower. These will be enough for that crown
Round 10 - Hogan Miller: I feel like I have heard of Hogan before, that might just be the hulkster though
Round 9 - James Jamason: Hopefully his middle name is Jonah and he hates Spiderman
Round 8 - Snipperri Baardownen: I'm going to be really dissapointed if this wonderful name went IA.
Round 7 - I'm going to assume Oliviz Klozoff is the before Oliver Klozoff, so I will happily give this one. Not too sure about any of these tbh.
Round 6 - Benjamin Blue has made a name for himself, and we're finally at a place where names start to register. Blue is Halifax's best 6th round pick @BoucherFan12
Round 5 - Mike McKorsy. I believe this name rings a bell, but the rest of the 5th rounds don't raise an eyebrow. He only lasted a few seasons.
Round 4 - This is a toughy, my top 2 are from the same draft. Between Doskocil and Kholin I'd give the edge to Matt Kohlin just on the TPE side of things @Kalakar
Round 3 - Mr. Thicc Cheezy is currently the Raiders best third round pick, and his future is bright. Only 2 seasons into his young career he has a very high ceiling. @sailingdrumstick
Round 2 - Geezus Kryyst is one of the best goalies in the league, has been for a while, and will be for another few seasons. He is Halifax's top 2nd round pick. (sincerely, congrats on the Challenge Cup) @Narconis
Round 1 - A lot of quality picks to chose from, as it should be for the first round. I think as things currently stand Hercules Rockefeller takes this. There are a bunch of folks nipping at the heels though @Leafs4ever

Now the final part I was interested in was to see players at a certain overall spot and give best of x position, so there are a few repeats I'll pull.
1 OA - Rainbow Dash. I think it's hard to argue against the commish for all the work they do in the league, and Essa is right behind, very well soon may be easily above, and Skinner is on pace for a very good career
7 OA - From the same draft as Eggy, Ray Bork takes this place. A solid contributor and high TPE player. He's going to be leading the pride for a few more seasons. There are a few 7th that are going to take a run at this in a few seasons though.
9 OA - Atlas Rush. There are players who do have more TPE, but I don't think there are many Raiders who have done more for the team. Atlas spent 4 years with the Raiders, and I believe he was captain for 3 of them. In fact he's the last raider to wear a C as it was not given out last season.
18 OA - Adam Barron - Halifax has had a few of these picks in the last few seasons, but it has to go to Adam Barron. Flipped his draft to 1oa SHL selection, and has not looked back since he joined the league.
53 OA - For now I have to stay with Troy Reynolds for contribution to Halifax. Karl is nipping right behind though and wants this spot! (And let's be serious, this curiosity is what peaked my interest to do this piece)

Let me know any other interesting Draft related Raiders history, or stats, or make an argument for different players! Since I wasn't able to look up the older stats I kept it easier on myself and just went off name recognition and familiarity.

As I mentioned earlier, I may crunch stats from what is available in a later post, but things get busy and I've been sitting on this for a little bit as it is already.

--2330 Words, hopefully the fact that S52 draft picks are included counts for the Double Draft media, but I'll leave that up to the graders extraordinaire--
