Manhattan Rage honor Wollker with jersey retirement

The Manhattan Rage officially honored one of the greatest players in franchise history recently, retiring the number of Wyatt Wollker against the Winnipeg Jets. This makes Wollker only the third player to have their number retired by the 50-year old franchise.

Wollker finished his time with the Manhattan Rage being traded to the Edmonton Blizzard as the fourth highest scoring player in Rage history with 437 points in 486 games, which gave him the fifth most games played in team history as well. He also finished second in franchise history for assists, with 326, proving his ability as a playmaker. He is second only to Roy Razin, the first player to have their number retired, in franchise history for scoring by a defenseman.

Beyond his play offensively, Wollker was impactful defensively. He finished his career second in shots blocked for the Rage with 771. He played heavily and is among the most minutes played per game for a defenseman in Rage history as well.

Finally, Wollker is one of few players to win multiple Challenge Cups with the Rage. The franchise infamously failed throughout their early history to secure a Cup victory before finally winning in their 20th season in S22. Wollker was a member of two of the three Rage Cup victories all-time, winning in both S34 and S38. With that, he is the all-time leader in playoff points for the Rage with 57, 41 of which are assists, all in 56 games played which ties for the most all time for the Rage. He was a +14, had 107 shot blocks and 3 game winning goals.

Wollker was honored in S35 with the Scott Stevens Trophy, making him only the 6th defenseman in team history to win the award. He was inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame in S44.

Please join the Rage in thanking Wollker for his work for the Rage and honoring him with his name in the rafters.

This is the 50th season of the Manhattan Rage, and as such they are honoring many of their greatest players of all time. Keep an eye out as more retirements come along, as well as additional content.
