S54 Casino - 2nd Edition - Halfway Point

With each team having about 18-21 games left in the season, this is the point of the season where it becomes somewhat clear where some teams will land on the bet line while others provide false hope to casino betters.

Baltimore Platoon
Over/Under: 20.5
Current Record: 7-24-1
On Pace For: 11-37-2
Over Bets: 11
Under Bets: 14

The Baltimore Platoon have been quite disappointing this season, as they have only been able to win 7 of their 32 games this season. They are having quite the odd season of sorts though as in the most recent games, they have been consistently either getting absolutely blown out or blowing out teams themselves. Although not impossible, they will need an absolute miracle for the ages for them to clinch a playoff spot and the same can really be said for them passing that 20.5 win line.

Buffalo Stampede
Over/Under 37.5 Wins

On Pace For: 38-9-3

To not many people’s surprise, the Buffalo Stampede are currently standing on top of the SHL right now at 22 wins for the season which puts them just on pace to pass the betting line of 37.5 we set out for them, to the dismay of you 6 who bet under. Buffalo however has a good mix of top contending teams along with the bottom feeders of the league to end their season so unless they can keep up their regular season dominance, they could very well end just short of where they are on pace for.

Calgary Dragons
Over/Under 34.5 Wins

On Pace For: 28-19-3

The Calgary Dragons have been quite disappointing to say the least this season but have brought back their season somewhat after such a rough start as they are sitting on 17 wins that has them fighting it out with San Francisco for 4th in the west. With them being on pace to end with the same wins as San Fran, it should make for an exciting finish of the season to see who makes it to the playoffs. The 28 wins they are on pace for unfortunately isn’t enough to pass the 34.5 win line however.

Chicago Syndicate
Over/Under: 31.5 Wins
Current Record: 21-6-2
On Pace For: 36-10-4

As I expected, the Chicago Syndicate haven’t shown any signs of slowing down with their dominant run through the regular season as they are well on pace for 36 wins that will comfortably allow them into the playoffs and pay out all you over betters. The Chicago Syndicate will be ending the season with quite the tough schedule however as 14 of their last 19 games will be against playoff contending teams so we could very well see them fall below the 36 win mark but below the betting line? Probably not.

Edmonton Blizzard
Over/Under: 30.5 Wins
Current Record: 19-11-2
On Pace For: 29-18-3

The Edmonton Blizzard are not looking like the all dominant league leading force that they were at the start of the season, but realistically speaking keeping up a 40 win pace is difficult to say the least. With a 29 win pace they should be able to just squeak by into the playoffs but like Chicago, they have a tough schedule ahead of them and with more games played than the team below them, they will need to go on a late season run to make it into playoffs, let alone pass that 30.5 win line for all your over betters. Definitely a team to watch as we reach the end of the season.

Hamilton Steelhawks

On Pace For: 36-10-4

To the relief of all fucking 40 of you over betters, Hamilton seems to have regain their dominant cup winning form to the dismay of the rest of us .-. The Hamilton Steelhawks went on one heck of a mid season run that put them in position to fight it out with the Buffalo Stampede for first in the east. As long as they don’t somehow break down for the rest of the season, they should be expected to comfortably cruise into the playoffs and have a good shot at defending that cup of theirs, let alone pay out 40 betters a sweet paycheck this offseason.

Los Angeles Panthers
Over/Under: 31.5
Current Record: 20-10-0
On Pace For: 33-17-0
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 1

Like the Steelhawks, the Los Angeles Panthers had quite the mid season resurgence that has them slotted in at 2nd in the west, just barely behind the New Orlean Specters. As long as the Panthers keep at the pace they are currently going, they should be able to make it into the playoffs without a problem and could even possibly go into the postseason as the kings of the west. As for the betting line, the majority of you who bet over on this one should be expecting a payout this offseason but we’ve seen some weird stuff in the SHL at the end of regular seasons so I wouldn’t be celebrating just yet.

Manhattan Rage
Over/Under: 32.5
Current Record: 19-9-2
On Pace For: 32-15-3

Under Bets: 9

The Manhattan Rage seem to have cooled down some since their amazing start to the regular season as they have dropped from 2nd in the east to fighting for a playoff spot with the New England Wolfpack. Those playoff chances however don’t look so bright as they have probably the toughest schedule ahead of them to end their regular season. Definitely going to be a nail biting end to the regular season for the Manhattan Rage for their playoff hopes and to see which side of the betting line they will end up on for you Manhattan betters out there.

Minnesota Chiefs
Over/Under: 15.5
Current Record: 7-20-2
On Pace For: 12-30-8
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 21

This season hasn’t been all too friendly for the Minnesota Chiefs as they have struggled to just get to 7 wins on the season and are on pace to fall below the betting line. I’m sure I don’t have to say it but we won’t be hearing the Minnesota Chief’s name being called this coming offseason as they are on pace for just 12 wins on the season that is well below what the contending teams will be expecting to reach. This is still a young rebuilding team that is far from contending so I’m sure this is what the Chiefs and the rest of us expected though. As for the betting line, unless the Chiefs can double their wins to end the season, all 21 of you under betters should be getting an easy payout but you just never know, it could very well happen.

New England Wolfpack
Over/Under: 35.5
Current Record: 18-10-1
On Pace For: 31-17-2

Well the New England Wolfpack might not be missing out on the playoffs to rebuilding teams but they are however having a bit of a disappointing season after their 42 win run we saw just last year. With only 18 wins on the season, they are currently fighting it out with Manhattan to just squeak by into the playoffs as the 4th seed in the East but as they are on pace to fall below them, it shouldn’t come too much as a surprise if you don't see their name on the playoff bracket this coming postseason. With this disappointing regular season, the Wolfpack are falling quite behind the high betting line set out for them but they are still a very talented team that has shown they can be dominant in the regular season so not all hope should be lost for you 5 over betters.

New Orleans Specters
Over/Under 34.5
Current Record: 19-9-1
On Pace For: 33-15-2

I think it’s safe to say that the New Orleans Specters aren’t exactly underperforming this season any longer as they are currently sitting on top of the wet at 19 wins for the season that should allow them to quite safely get into the playoffs barring an end of the season breakdown. They are however underperforming in the eyes of the casino as they are on pace for 33 wins that will be 2 wins below the over on the 34.5 win line that they will need to reach for the casino so see some winnings at season’s end, but hey I’m sure you all are happy about that.

San Francisco Pride
Over/Under 31.5
Current Record: 17-13-0
On Pace For: 28-22-0

San Francisco’s moves this past offseason seem to be working out for them as they are sitting on 17 wins on the season that has allowed them to claim the 4th spot in the west but are just barely behind the Edmonton Blizzard and a pretty comfortable 2 win lead over the Texas Renegades. That’s not to say they are guaranteed a playoff spot but it shouldn’t surprise anyone if they do make it. As for their betting line, the Pride will be expected to end the season with only 28 wins which will be 4 wins below the amount needed for an over win so as of now, it looks like the casino can expect some major loss.

Tampa Bay Barracudas
Over/Under: 5.5
Current Record: 0-31-0
On Pace For: 0-50-0
Over Bets: 7
Under Bets: 55

This is where the real major casino loss is gonna come from…. The Tampa Bay Barracudas seem to be looking to go down in the history books, just not for what you really wanna go down for .-. With 0 wins on the season and no signs of uh… winning? The Waterdogs this season could very well be the first team in SHL history to ever go 0-50 on the season. There are still quite a few games for the rest of the season for them to get their first win but I think it’s very safe to say that they will not be getting over 5.5 wins that will probably bankrupt 55 of you as I’m sure many of you under betters parlayed.

Texas Renegades
Over/Under: 21.5
Current Record: 15-11-4
On Pace For: 25-16-9
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 8

The Texas Renegades have finally come down to earth to around where they should be expected to be which is on pace for a 25 win season and a 5th place western conference finish that will see them just outside of the playoffs. The Renegades have shown that they can be a formidable force this season however so they could very well topple the Blizzard and Pride to squeak into the playoffs, but they do have quite the schedule to end the season that those chances don't look too bright. What does look bright however is the over better win as Texas only needs 6 wins to end the season.

Toronto North Stars
Over/Under: 9.5
Current Record: 6-22-1
On Pace For: 10-38-2
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 11

The Toronto North Stars have done much better than the season prior as they are expected to reach double digits in the win column but are still a bad rebuilding team that really won’t be seen in the playoffs for some time to come. Seems the casino predicted the Toronto North Star season pretty well as they are just on pace for 10 wins for the season that will see an over win that the majority of you did not expect : ))))) Should make for a very close finish for the season however for all you TOR betters.

Winnipeg Jets
Over/Under: 20.5
Current Record: 9-19-0
On Pace For: 16-34-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 0

You know, it kinda surprises me to see that we had 0 bets on the Winnipeg Jets. That of course means no one will be benefitting or losing out due to the Winnipeg season as they are currently 2nd to last in the west as they have 9 wins on the season and are on route to end with a 16 win season that will see them far below the 20.5 win line that the casino set out for them.

It’s a bit early to say for sure for all these bets, but they are all starting to flesh out to be some very close ones and some that are almost set in stone. Thank you all for reading the 2nd edition of S54 Casino Media!
