Scarecrow's Draft (x2 Draft Story)
#1
(This post was last modified: 02-02-2021, 07:26 PM by Jackers41. Edit Reason: Title Fix )

The St. Louis Scarecrows had a very full draft. They had a pick in each of the six rounds and brought in solid players with each pick. They drafted 2 Centers, 2 Defense, and 2 Forwards.

The first person I got to talk with was GM Blitzkrieg. When asked about the depth of the position he talked about how there were a ton of centers, but that helped the Scarecrow's need. He then went on about the lack of goalies in the draft (only 3), but pointed out is probably due to the number of goalies in the SHL. He said "We came in with a "Shopping List", and we hit our marks" when talking about team needs. When asked about each of his picks, here is what he had to say :
"Our 1st rounder is Ethan Bouchard. We're really excited to have Fever back, he really wanted to come back to St. Louis. Filled a spot on our depth chart nicely on paper. We were a little nervous that we wouldn't get him at 6, but we're glad we did.
In the 2nd, we were really thrilled to get Dane von Gucci. Lot of ISFL ties there, which we also have on our team, and Ham had a good chat with him in scouting. We thought he was Carolina's 1st round pick, but they took their other DFA and then he fell to 14th overall.
The third was Scooby Doo, who has ties to our LR already. We talked a lot between him and Shaq O'Neal, but again, we needed centers. I think he's a great add, and I'm loving the Scooby Doo gifs in the LR.
4th was a pick that I think is going to be one of the steals of this draft. Had a really good conversation with Lebron Brady in scouting, and did a lot of talking and answering questions. I think he's a great player and a great dude, and I was hyping him up big to the war room. I'm really glad he was still there in the 4th. There were a few other really good people that we were looking at there, but I think we got the best option available to us.
Our 5th is Brent Ashe. He's a little rough around the edges, but he's really active and really wants to learn and improve, and I think we can help him with that. We're really excited to bring his energy into the locker room, and I think he's going to be another great late pick.
Our last pick, at 69 OA, is Joshua Horsemenzada. We're excited to see where it goes, but it was close between him and Harry Ballsonya to fill in that wing spot. We decided that Horsemenzada has a little more energy for the league."
Overall we had a great interview and I am looking forward to any other interview I get to do with him.

Second I got to talk to the 6th overall pick, Ethan Bouchard. The first question I had to ask him was about his overall draft experience, he shared "It was positive for me. My agent told me great things about St. Louis and the Scarecrows organization. From the get-go, I was hoping to be drafted to St. Louis and I couldn’t be happier to be donning the Crows jersey!". When talking about how he felt to be the first-round pick for this team he said "I am ecstatic to say the least. I don’t really care too much about draft position as long as I go to a team where I have a chance to succeed. I definitely have that chance here in St. Louis and I am overwhelmed with joy to be suiting up for the team that was number one on my preferred draft destinations list!". Overall he and I had a fun interview. He was great to learn more about and I am excited to have him as a teammate.

I then got to talk to second-round pick, Dane von Gucci. During his interview, he informed me he was a little bummed out when only have the teams scouted him. It was a bit strange because he was a top pre-draft prospect with highly ranked TPE. When asked how big of an impact he can be on this team, he had this to say, "I didn’t make much of an impact last season at a very low TPE (Talking about his last player), but hopefully coming in as a near max earner this season allows me to bring both consistency and some big plays to the team. I asked him if there was anyone he was looking forward to playing with and he had this to say, "I know first year send down Fredrich Hundertwasser (spelling idk) and he’s a great earner and offensive threat I’m looking forward to playing with." He was an awesome guy to interview with who has great future potential.

The Scarecrow's third-round draft pick Scooby Doo was very positive throughout his whole interview. He said that the whole draft process was fun and it was nice to see all the other anxious rookies waiting to be picked. He said he knew going in that he had narrowed it down to 4 teams he would like to draft him and he got on to one of them. I asked him how he saw himself on this young team and he had this to say, "I see myself thriving on this team! There is a lot of potential here, so I'm hoping to make things work and hopefully we can make it far!". I see a lot of potential with this young rookie and wish him the best of luck throughout his career.

Because I was interviewing all of these guys I thought I should answer some of the questions too. The draft experience was an overall positive experience for me. I was a little disappointed when I dropped to the fourth round, but I figured it was either the early third or early fourth coming in based on the teams who showed interest in me. I would like to thank Newfoundland GM Nhamlet who helped me out with answering questions here and there. I would also like to thank Blitzkrieg who I had a great conversation with the other day and who has continued to help answer questions for me throughout the whole process. I am excited about the group of guys I am getting to play with, they were all kind during interviews and I think they will all be very active. I see my player being a late-game guy where you are down and need a goal and he just has that get me the puck and it will end in the net. I am not the most balanced but Blitzkrieg helped me fix that a little with the TPE I have earned. I look forward to this upcoming season and hope we can make a deep playoff run.

Last I got to speak to fifth-round pick Brent Ashe. Sadly I wasn't able to speak with Mr. Irrelevant (IDK if they call it that in NHL) but I am looking forward to meeting him in the future. When asked about where he sees himself on this young team he had this to say, "(I see myself) Being a leader in the locker room, the glue per see to make sure that the team doesn't lose interest or lose the motivation that I want them to have." He then later said he could see himself being a big night guy some nights and just the consistent play that needs to be made guy on other nights. He was very helpful throughout the interview, and I look forward to our future conversations.

Overall the Scarecrow's rookies look like a fun young group who can bring some power off the bench and will be giving the whole league a run for their money. I look forward to future conversations with these guys and maybe even interviews recapping their rookie seasons.
