Day one of the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League preseason is in the books, and the Preseason has to brought a little excitement to the team and to the fan base here in Maine as the Timber started three and one in their first 4 games of the day.
The first game was a very successful one for Luka and the team as they came away with a 5-1 victory. Luka in his first preseason game in the second period kicked off his SMJHL career with the GWG in the second period to give the Timber a 2-1 lead. The game continued with more scoring for the Timber with the Timber getting on the board with a trio of goals to go up 5-1 in the third periodand seal the win. Luka scored his first of the season off a brilliant assist from Johnny Tsunami, who lured the defense into crashing and set up the easy score. Mann lead the breakout charge for the pass as the team charged up the ice getting the secondary assist. In the next game the Timber faced jumped on the go from the faceoff , in another big win for them as the young team showed some scoring potential. The team jumped out to an early two to zero lead after some nice shooting by Angler and Pu. The second period saw the opposing team get their one and only goal for the game. The third period would turn into another multiple goal period for the Maine Timber. Maines Steven Thomas opened the third period scoring with a nice wrister after some gravity defying moves to get open, blazing it into the net for the goal, then later in the period Pu potted his second pretty potter with the help by Obrien and Ford on the assist. Obrien got a nice breakout pass to get across half ice and set up the offense, the team skated and created and got a nice possession before he saw a streaking Pu who found the back of the net on a tip in. The final result was a 4-1 victory for Maine, outscoring their opponents 9-2 in the first 2 opening pre season games had the team feeling and looking as good as their Logo. The third preseason game however was much closer, as we saw Vancouver take the 2-1 lead in the second period as Maine was struggling to get their defensive footing in. Maine finally found the back of the net first, but Vancouver recovered and took the 2-1 lead before periods end. In the third it was all Maine Timbers though as they unleashed a flurry of goals before the end game horn, with Marsh, Pu and Amglier all getting on the scoreboard in the third to take a 4-2 lead and the third straight preseason W. The boxscores from game 3 where mysteriously vanished and no one even remembers that game happening. The Timber lockerroom left day 1 feeling good about the start of their dynasty and a chance to build a really good young and upcoming team by the end of the year Approved! +5 TPE @Slav1cThor
