S60 New England Wolfpack Team Awards
[Image: NewEngland-min.png]

Welcome to our annual New England Wolfpack Wolfpack team awards! We have five awards to hand out tonight. All representing mindsets of what it means to be part of the Pack. Our awards have all been named after Wolfpack legends who have poured their heart and soul into this franchise. Here's a recap of what they stand for.

The Patrikov Bure Award
This trophy is awarded in honor of Patrikov Bure who leads the franchise in goals and points. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest offensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers.

The Mia Landvik Award
This trophy is awarded in honor of Mia Landvik who was a long term captain and defensive goddess. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest defensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers.

The Nathan Russell Leadership Award
This trophy is awarded in honor of Nathan Russell who captained the team to three Challenge Cups in the early S30s. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice as voted on by their peers.

The Sasha Dangelchek Memorial Award
This trophy is awarded in honor and memory of the late Sasha Dangelchek who passed away on 9/9/2020. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies camaraderie, friendship and sportsmanship as voted on by their peers.

The Jasper Clayton Award
This Trophy is awarded in honor of Jasper Clayton who is the franchise leader in assists and who was the GM from S30-S40. It goes to the Wolfpack player who most exceeded expectations as voted on by the team management.

You can find more information about these players and their legacy here.

The voting process happened completely internal to the Wolfpack. Where, as mentioned in the award descriptions above, every player associated with New England was eligible to cast their votes. Including all prospects and rostered players.

The process allowed each voter to cast two votes per award. They would select their first pick, and then their second pick for each. Where any first pick received 2 points, and any second pick received 1 point.

After all votes were cast. I dove into the ballot box and counted the votes. The outcome of which you will be reading about below.

Let's get started!

Our first award tonight is the offensive achievement award. The Patrikov Bure! As a reminder, here is the award description: This trophy is awarded in honor of Patrikov Bure who leads the franchise in goals and points. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest offensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers.

As our younglings are growing up our offensive achievements are now a lot more spread out. Hell, even Frans Eller received votes for this award showing that it's not only our skaters that make us better offensively. We had a close fight in the team's points race all season. Having several different players at the top of the scoreboard at some point. Both young and old. Here are your finalists:

C, Slap McShotty @bbjygm
F, Ethan Price @Zomp
F, Bás O'Bigbers @Sopath
D, Sven Yxskaft @kenvald

While the points were fairly close, the final tally wasn't the same. A lot of players received multiple votes. But in the end, there was one who stood out in the eyes of the team. The winner is...

Our second award is the defensive achievement award. The Mia Landvik! This trophy is awarded in honor of Mia Landvik who was a long term captain and defensive goddess. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest defensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers.

In the results for this award we saw a good range of players catching both 1st and 2nd votes. Proven by our nominees that represent three generations of players. There was impressive defensive output from all four and once again the light shines not only on our defensive line, but also on some of our forwards that have become the definition of two-way. Your final four...

C, Jakub Bruchevski @JaytheGreat
C, Slap McShotty @bbjygm
D, Sven Yxskaft @kenvald
D, Teylora Petrov @Bayley

This one was a doozy. It had me at the edge of my seat as I counted each vote. Until the very last one it wasn't clear which player would take home the award. And imagine my surprise when it wasn't "player", but "players". We have another two-way win where our winners received the same amount of points and the same amount of 1st votes. Our Mia Landvik winners are… this and that!

Our next award is the first award that takes off-ice contributions into account. The Nathan Russell! This trophy is awarded in honor of Nathan Russell who captained the team to three Challenge Cups in the early S30s. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice as voted on by their peers.

Counting the votes for our leadership award is always a good time for me. I get to see a majority of the players in New England receive votes from their peers. We have a lot of good people, and it shows. There's always someone willing and able to help others out, to step up when others need them, to cheer us on during both up and down turns. Sadly, we have to narrow down our finalists to find the winner. And here they are...

F, Guðmundur Kristjánsson @Fluw
F, Jonathan Granström @Halkohol
D, Sven Yxskaft @kenvald
G, Frans Eller @Ace

Here was another very close vote. But in the end there was a single player that received more points than the rest. Showing that we did the right by putting our trust in them. Our leadership award winner is…

On to our last player-voted award. The Sasha Dangelchek! This trophy is awarded in honor and memory of the late Sasha Dangelchek who passed away on 9/9/2020. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies camaraderie, friendship and sportsmanship as voted on by their peers. It is also one of two awards that our prospects are eligible to win.

This award holds a special place in our hearts as we remember Dangel #AD26

This award gets me every time. We're all trying our best to embrace what Dangel stood for. There are so many amazing people within New England. To try and prevent myself from repeating too much from the previous award, let me just say I love you all. The NHL rivalries, the game nights, the goofiness, the game threads, and everything in between makes it a great place to be. Our finalists for this award continuously provides the locker room with good and great times. Here are the chosen three...

F, Guðmundur Kristjánsson @Fluw
F, Jonathan Granström @Halkohol
G, Frans Eller @Ace

These 3 are all amazing people, as shown by them being voted as finalists to what some would say is our most prestigious award. It came down to the line. Our Sasha Dangelchek award winner is...

And now for our final award of the ceremony. The Jasper Clayton! This Trophy is awarded in honor of Jasper Clayton who is the franchise leader in assists and who was the GM from S30-S40. It goes to the Wolfpack player who most exceeded expectations as voted on by the team management. This is the only award where the New England management team are the only ones to cast votes.

Season 60 brought back the playoffs to New England. All thanks to both the young and old who stepped up and showed the league that we're getting ready to play with the big boys! We saw several players break their own records, and here are some of them as your nominees...

C, Calvin Hobbes @krazko
F, Bás O'Bigbers @Sopath
F, Guðmundur Kristjánsson @Fluw
F, Jonathan Granström @Halkohol
D, Leonids Balzams @Cyanide

Management were encouraged to submit motivations with their award nominations. Here is the combined motivation for this award’s winner:

You know the saying that someone can go "above and beyond"? Well, this player went even further than that. After a slow start to the season something just clicked for this player and their line mates. Stepping up as an extremely efficient offensive line. It being their first year in the SHL, other teams might've underestimated them and given this player too much space. Problem for our opponents was, that even after they figured out this player was a threat, they still couldn't stop them. This player has a big performance most nights of the week. And to top off the best rookie season in S60, this player didn't just have the 4th most points scored on the team. But also the most points scored among all rookies in the entire league. On top of their outstanding on-ice performance this player also has a great attitude at all time, and brings a great atmosphere to the LR.

Our winner is...
